Summary
Description |
Otley Show began in the late 1700s when the farmers around the town were keen to apply developments in agriculture taking place elsewhere in England. A competition for various livestock classes was conducted in 1796 - the event acted as a focus for the local farming community to promote and encourage improvements in livestock breeding and it has continued to the present day. The show has become more commercial in modern times but still affords visitors an opportunity to see prize animal breeds like these Clydesdale Horses which belong to the Bradford Industrial Museum and are participating in the heavy horse turnout challenge.
