Gideon IV was the Governor of Semien during the times of Semien being a Vassal of the Axumite Empire. After he was killed in Battle with Dil Na'od, his daughter, Yudit, would succeed him as Governor and she would free Semien from Axumite Rule and even destroy the Axumite Kingdom.[1]
Reign
Gideon IV was a rebellious man and wanted to free the Kingdom of Semien from Axumite Vassalage. He revolted in c.960 C.E. against Axum but he failed and was killed in Battle.[citation needed] His daughter, Yudit would succeed him as the Governor of Semien and she would revolt against Aksum and unlike her father, she was victorious and collapsed Axum into multiple states.[citation needed]
