Brockwood Park is a country estate located in Bramdean, East Hampshire in England. There is a Krishnamurti school on the grounds of the estate known as Brockwood Park School[1].
Brockwood Park School
Brockwood Park School is a public school inspired by the teachings of Jiddu Krishnamurti. The school was founded in 1969 on the site of a dilapidated park and manor house which was restored for the purposes of the school[1]. Krishnamurti resided the school until 1985 when he left due to health concerns.
History
There are a number of prehistoric Barrows in the vicinity of the park suggesting a significant area of activity for Early Bronze Age peoples. The manor house at the centre of the estate and school is a Georgian construction built in 1769. [2]
Notable features
A stone circle was erected in the park grounds in the mid 19th century by Colonel George Greenwood made primarily from local sandstone and some puddingstones from Farringdon[3] in commemoration of his favourite horse[4]. Additionally, 15 redwoods grow in the estate grounds[5].
