I got a templated invitation from an IP to join this wikiproject, with no indication why I (out of all wikipedians) was asked. Are there criteria being applied, or is this entirely arbitrary? (Hint: there's a correct answer.)[[User:LeadSongDog|LeadSongDog]] [[User talk:LeadSongDog#top|come howl!]] 17:17, 6 July 2018 (UTC) |

Revision as of 03:26, 24 October 2018
This project page does not require a rating on Wikipedia's content assessment scale. It is of interest to the following WikiProjects: | ||||||||||||||||||

Content
I started the task force as an empty framework to give others the opportunity to weigh in. Feel free to boldly edit or propose and discuss ideas here. –dlthewave ☎ 15:12, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- Very nice. I added myself because I'm in process for improvements for Port Arthur massacre (Australia) --Tom (talk) 17:48, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
Templates
- I've made a request to add Gun politics to the WP:POLITICS banner. –dlthewave ☎ 15:40, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
Assessment? Showcase?
Thank you for creating this task force. I'm curious, when the project have an assessment table showing article quality and WikiProject priorities? How about a showcase highlighting Good and Featured articles and lists? ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:07, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for the suggestion. The Politics banner supports Class and Importance parameters so editors can start rating articles right away if they wish. It's just a matter of displaying it on the project page which I'm hoping to accomplish this weekend. –dlthewave ☎ 03:14, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
WikiProject Firearms?
Should we include a link to WikiProject Firearms, as a related project? ---Another Believer (Talk) 23:09, 13 April 2018 (UTC)
Do we help each other as collegues ?
Hello Buddies from this project :-) I'm working at the Port Arthur massacre. See Talk:Port_Arthur_massacre_(Australia)#Improvement_of_Article_/_Wikipedia:WikiProject_Politics/Gun_politics. I would really appreciate it if you have a look ... perhaps leave some criticisms ... or happily give hints and support a little in editing the article. Have a nice weekend. Cheers --Tom (talk) 14:49, 14 April 2018 (UTC)

Somebody just attempted (and failed) to login to my account. Anybody else having this issue? --KRAPENHOEFFER! TALK 18:20, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
- Yes, I had the same thing happen. –dlthewave ☎ 18:47, 3 May 2018 (UTC)
- Might want to bring this to attention of staff then. --KRAPENHOEFFER! TALK 19:13, 3 May 2018 (UTC)

- It seems to be happening across the board. K.e.coffman (talk) 00:56, 4 May 2018 (UTC)

Open discussions section
I recently added an Open discussions section to the project page, but another editor has raised campaigning concerns since other projects were not notified. Do folks feel that this is a useful/appropriate addition to the project? I'd like to see uninvolved editors weigh in on the potential canvassing issue elsewhere but also get a feel for whether or not this something we would like to include. –dlthewave ☎ 18:18, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
- I think it's a good idea. It would allow to track discussions so that we could refer to them in the future. I would include RfCs and discussions at various noticeboards: NPOVN, RSN, etc. Once the RfC/discussion is closed / archived, it could be moved to "Archived discussions" or similar. I would also suggest having a similar section at WP:GUNS - for the discussions that cover specific types or models of firearms. --K.e.coffman (talk) 01:30, 5 May 2018 (UTC)

RfC Notice
An RfC related to this topic, Wound characteristics of military-style rifles, has been opened at Reliable sources noticeboard. –dlthewave ☎ 20:09, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
User essay
I've written an essay related to this topic, How a project advice page was enforced as policy for ten years, which documents a group of editors who enforced the WP:Firearms advice page as policy. Feel free to comment or suggest changes and additions at my talk page. –dlthewave ☎ 22:00, 23 June 2018 (UTC)
