Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

City of Heroes (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Following the initial declined request (seen below), deleterious edits have become more frequent on the article.—Ryulong (琉竜) 21:28, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Illinois Family Institute (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: edit-warring while an RfC is active regarding an addition to the lead. StAnselm (talk) 21:20, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- StAnselm has been reported for edit warring at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. This request of his is an obvious attempt to further extend his desired version. He is harming the development of the article. Protection is not needed at the article; the only thing wrong with it will be fixed when StAnselm is blocked. Binksternet (talk) 21:47, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Whitesnake (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Lassad Nouioui (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary full protection: Content dispute/edit warring – User:Teep123 and User:90.213.135.183 are edit warring this page. Mr. Vernon (talk) 17:11, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- I strongly agree...in the three minutes I've been there refereeing it's been mayhem. A protection is paramount. Go Phightins! (talk) 17:17, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Lord Bloody Wog Rolo (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism. Anderson - What's up? 09:13, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- the person your are accusing of vandalising this article is making legitimate contributions, you and 'andreclos' and your other alternate accounts are the ones vandalising the article, just because you dont want certain facts published does not make them vandalism124.182.142.3 (talk) 10:24, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Reading the above and going back through the article editing history, and some other related items, I get the impression that 124.182.142.3 and 124.178.238.235 (who was conducting the same acitity as now back in March - April with Rozziew) is Robin Tapier (son of Rolo), who believes that Anderson (AKA: ItsZippy and ItsZippy/CVUA/Anderson) and Rozziew, who's talkpage states it is 'Rozzie Chapman,s home page, are both Rosalyn Chapman (nee Anderson). If that is so then does it not bring both editors into Conflict of Interest, and Edit warring as personal family issues, amongst others? Richard Harvey (talk) 10:31, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – Constant IP harassment. I'll create a sub-page for IPs (maybe). Evanh2008 (talk|contribs) 06:21, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Irfan abbasi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary create protection: Repeatedly recreated – Despite multiple warnings, the user continues to recreate their autobiography. Mephistophelian (talk) 06:17, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) Comment: - Honestly, I believe the better option would be to give the user a final warning before blocking them. After a certain number of attempts, it may be evident that they are not here to edit constructively. A relevant note to other users: User talk:Irfanabbasi is the author's talk page. SwisterTwister talk 06:23, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Nb. While an additional warning is appropriate, I'm not advocating the create protection as a punishment, but merely a preventative measure to preclude the disruption from repeatedly tagging and deleting inappropriate material. Mephistophelian (talk) 06:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC).
- Exactly, I'm not suggesting it would be a punishment either but the user appears to have failed to significantly understand why the articles have been deleted. I'll give the user a message of advice but this may be a case of Wikipedia:Competence is required. Something like this had happened at Kalappurackal since May 2012. Cruel Summer (album) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: High level of IP vandalism. I've created this page today for the album of GOOD Music label. Like you should know, it's a very popular label nowadays with a lot of fans. I am requesting semi-protection for this page because a lot of kids are trying to put fake stuff in the page. Please, reply in my page if accept this request. Thank you -SrGangsta (talk)
- Lot of vandalism there. Please somebody help me. Lock this page -SrGangsta (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:43, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Fifty Shades of Grey (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Permanent semi-protection. Persistent vandalism. Since it was removed from temporary semi-protection on August 25th, the page has been vandalized on an almost daily basis. ([1]) Most of the vandalizing is coming from IPs and the semi-protection worked relatively well while it was up, so I think a permanent semi-protection would be enough.Tokyogirl79 (talk) 10:49, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Semi-protection; recently cancelled, fans likely to keep posting epitaphs.—Ryulong (琉竜) 04:34, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Declined – Pages are not protected preemptively. Feel free to re-post if there is widespread disruption later.—Bagumba (talk) 05:29, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Soviet war in Afghanistan (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Edit warring by newbie and IP editors. SMS Talk 14:26, 31 August 2012 (UTC)
- Declined – Content dispute. Please use the article's talk page or other forms of dispute resolution. —Bagumba (talk) 02:01, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Note: I am not the involved party, just watching the page. And I see some 20 reverts in last 30 edits on different content started by newbie and IP editors. --SMS Talk 09:51, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Semi-protection: The same tireless vandal is back. The article which is the target of this vandalism has been moved to another name so the logs currently look blank, but see this link for the previous history of page protections of this article. Page protection seems to be the only thing that works. -Thibbs (talk) 04:53, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Three vandals edits over two weeks.—Bagumba (talk) 05:36, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
- I guess I'm having trouble with the word "recent". The last act of vandalism was only hours ago. How recent does it need to be? Anyway as I pointed out this is part of a pattern of vandalism stretching back for more than a year. Notice the comment attending the most recent month-long page protection "Persistent vandalism, recurring in spurts every few days for almost the past year". Three times in 2 weeks is exactly the "every few days" the protecting admin was talking about. It would be one thing if this was an expanding article with repeated useful IP contributions. But it's not. The only IP involvement here is a slow stream of monothematic vandalism. I really don't want a 1.5 times a week job of reverting this nonsense. What a terrible waste of my editing time. -Thibbs (talk) 14:15, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
