Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – As a result of a recent game, there has been some vandalism of this account. Protection for ten days please. Walter Görlitz (talk) 20:06, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I am not seeing protection as warranted. I see two problematic IP edits: this one, which is contentious and poorly worded but at least arguably supported by reliable sources [1], and this one, which is vandalism but the editor has been warned, which for now seems to have resolved the issue. Rlendog (talk) 20:29, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

File:Tower.jpg ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
OTRS has been alerted that users keep uploading images with generic filenames, such as File:Tower.jpg, often without descriptions. This makes the images unusable, and additionally they overwrite existing images. I ask that the image File:Tower.jpg be deleted (albeit for copyvio reasons) and that the following file names be salted permanently:
- File:Tower.jpg ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- File:Tower.jpeg ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- File:Tower.png ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
- File:Tower.svg ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

Windows 8 (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP users constantly make the bad changes described in Talk:Windows 8#Bad edits to avoid. I have notified them in their talk pages, ([2], [3], [4]), but they still commit the bad edits and refuse to discuss. Although these edits are not exactly vandalism and are made in good faith, they are nonetheless disruptive and their editors are stubborn. Codename Lisa (talk) 05:50, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
List of This TV affiliates (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Multiple IP edits (probably same person) with persistent vandalism with basically campaign to get affiliate for Atlanta area. If possible, one week block for now. Msw1002 (talk) 05:09, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Fuckyou (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinitely protect against creation. Three attack pages have been created with that title according to the deletion log, and because the title itself is offensive, it is unlikely that a legitimate article can be created there. jfd34 (talk) 16:31, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- (Non-administrator comment) Title appears to be disruptive. All creations have been speedy deleted. No reason, for now, why it should be recreated.--Chip123456 17:39, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Redirected to Fuck you. Can now be protected. Choyoołʼįįhí:Seb az86556 > haneʼ 17:44, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Ongoing multi-day edit war among IPs over when she was born, no Talk page discussion. Zad68
16:24, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Fully protected for 2 days. Semi-protection would be inappropriate, as some autoconfirmed users have taken part in the dispute. Please try to encourage discussion among those involved. ItsZippy (talk • contributions) 18:21, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- OK, I guess I didn't look far enough down the history page to really appreciate for how long this edit-war has been going on, and how many editors it has involved! This article isn't of any interest to me really, but maybe with it full-protected, some Talk discussions might start. Cheers...

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Player got away with hitting an opposing, American player below the belt in an Olympic basketball game yesterday. Vandalism committed has been related to that event. OlYeller21Talktome 14:59, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. IPs have been removing the vandalism as much as those adding it. I'll keep an eye on it, though.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:15, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Regular and persistent IP vandalism of the article release date field. No release date has been announced but IP users keep adding fictitious ones. Has been a continuous problem since November 2011. Article was protected in June but vandalism restarted after protection expired. X201 (talk) 11:20, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Maybe one disruptive edit a day, sometimes none, some very constructive edits by IPs.--Bbb23 (talk) 18:10, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Long-term semiprotect. While the article is not generally subject to periods of high-speed vandalism, the fact that about 75% of the edits to the article are IPs and new accounts trying to cast doubt on this BLP's religious identification because they disagree with her politics, and reversions of those edits, indicate that some sort of remedy is called for. –Roscelese (talk ⋅ contribs) 16:50, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – I asked for this article to be requested the other day and I assume it wasn't. This article is becoming unstable as IP editors are making a lots of edits which are then being reverted by other registered users. Aaron • You Da One 10:52, 7 August 2012 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Giovanni Cernogoraz (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary protection: To prevent edit war, couple of users are continously posting information about Giovanni Cernogoraz which is unconfirmed and is potentially harassing Croatian people and Giovanni Cernogoraz himself. Protection until after London 2012 Olympics passes? Qwe144 (talk) 10:18, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Declined One account and two IP addresses have been editing disruptively. The more recently used IP address has been blocked, and the account and any other IPs can be blocked if the problem continues. There is no need to obstruct constructive editors too. The content is not "unconfirmed", as there is a reliable source. The idea that the information "is potentially harassing Croatian people" is absurd, and I can see no reason why anyone should see it that way, unless he or she is a nationalist. Finally, it is clear that the intention of this request was to protect the particular version of the article that the person making the request prefers. That is not the purpose of page protection. - Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection.; it is just one IP. Will watchlist, though. Lectonar (talk) 10:03, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- Does "recent" mean the past few days? I have reverted vandals on August 6, August 1, July 28, and July 26. Or should I just let the vandals run rampant? — WylieCoyote (talk) 17:46, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
- I agree with Lectonar. Articles like this are a magnet for new users who want to try their hand at editing, so it's better if we let them. It's a great way to attract new participants. That means we have to watch-list and revert any vandalism. Four vandalistic edits in ten days is not a very heavy work-load for the watchers. -- Dianna (talk) 19:23, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
