Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Macedonia (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary Full Protection, due to edit warring. This article is currently the subject of an arbitration case, and has been mentioned in the media of both Macedonia and Greece. I'd protect it myself, but I am peripherally involved, and I'd rather not get accused of misusing my tools in a dispute. Horologium (talk) 16:53, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Declined, given the nature of the topic, this is not really the kind of edit-warring like one might expect on such articles. The started talking at 16:00 UTC and there was no further edits after your request, so I will hope that they stopped now (and if not, there is still WP:ARBMAC that can be enforced). Temporary full protection, Protection request on behalf of email to foundation:Ticket:2008080810010623 because of libeled BLP from single purpose editor (who ignored request for sourcing BLP edits, but who admins are unlikely to block because admins don't care much about libeling editors). -- Jeandré, 2009-04-24t16:45z 16:45, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Declined, you do realize that assuming such bad faith towards admins is not likely to help? Anyway, protection policy does not allow protection in this case, there were no such edits in the last 2 months. The problem can and should be dealt with blocks if needed. Temporary semi-protection vandalism, This article has been experiencing an increase in vandalism due to the approaching season premiere on May 11. Semi-protect. Excessive non-constructive IP activity. The non-constructive activity is recent, a long-standing problem, and with multiple IPs. Article previously semi-protected (in 2008) for same reasons. –Whitehorse1 09:23, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

- Please may I have a further opinion on this request? Since April 1st, the page has been edited nearly 30 times—scarce constructive changes have taken place, other than to deal with vandal & similar reversions. This includes today, yesterday, end of last week, earlier that week, etc., with editors facing a similar story of vandal and non-constructive IP activity in the prior month March. –Whitehorse1 15:29, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- 2 counts in the last 5 days does not count as excessive recent vandalism. I doubt any other admin would see this differently. WP:PROTECT just does not allow such protections. Regards SoWhy 18:13, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Blockland (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection, Hello,
This article is at AFD being reviewed. I decided to go through it, and remove all material with no source or reference. I come back later that day to find all my revisions reverted. I wanted to find out why, and found this forum thread on Blockland's own forum.
http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=66768.0
This proves to me that the people editing this article, mosty IP users do not have a neutral Point of view, and are keeping people from changing the article. Is there anyway we could get this article protected until the AFD is closed? Thanks. gordonrox24 (talk) 10:58, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Declined, - the heart of the AfD process is that articles may be improved in order to avoid deletion. I don't think that it's appropriate to lock the article from attempts to do so. I agree that there are NPOV issues, but the better practice is to try and educate them. Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 12:28, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Temporary full protection dispute, Edit warring. CardinalDan (talk) 03:25, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. People should be reverting vandalism, but this looks almost like a virtual war across several articles and >50 reverts in the last hour. There is a point though when continued vandalism-reverting itself becomes distruptive and ends up looking more like an actual all out war. Reverting vandalism is admirable, but we have admins to protect and block user for a reason, so this doesn't happen. -Royalguard11(T) 03:47, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection Vandalism and good faith corruption by inexperienced users. Template:Editsemiprotected is already indef semi. Celestra (talk) 00:59, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
- Declined First because there's not very much recent activity at all, not enough to warrant protection. Second, correct me if I'm wrong but the whole point of a /doc page for a template is to have an editable explanation page when a template is protected for whatever reason. The /doc is excluded from transclusions, so editing the /doc does nothing to compromise the template itself. -Royalguard11(T) 02:30, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
