Revision as of 02:06, 23 April 2019
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

AFC Champions League two
- AFC Champions League two (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: High level of IP vandalism. MMMM97 (talk) 20:02, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Question: That's a recently created redirect. Which article did you want protection at? Daniel Case (talk) 22:55, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
Mr. Robot
Reason: Persistent disruptive editing by IP editor within similar IPv4 range. Ranges, diff 1, diff 2, diff 3, diff 4, etc. Look though revision history. --WikiLinuz (talk) 23:40, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Checking to see if protection is necessary. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 00:16, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked. @WikiLinuz: If the disruption resumes, feel free to resubmit, but please try to make greater efforts to explain why an edit is being reverted, both in edit summaries and on user talk pages. Thanks. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 00:41, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Kabosu (dog)
- Kabosu (dog) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Vandalism (e.g. users Iamnotblocked123 and InedibleHulk) Charles Dong (talk) 23:42, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Also, Kabosu is the dog behind the doge meme. So the vandalism from malicious users is extremely probable due to the popularity of doge meme. Charles Dong (talk) 23:47, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 01:37, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Nearly all articles linked in Template:2022–2023 mpox outbreak should be protected.
Reason: Persistent Vandalism. The same vandal has been consistently adding the same racist word in nearly every article about Mpox. Additionally, they have now branched out into anime related articles. I would request those pages be protected as well. See edits of 2601:46:600:2AF5:4BA0:A68E:F9FC:3C71, 2601:46:600:8df4:e9e6:56bb:47d9:ce40, 2601:40:c600:a9f0:f8f6:d1a0:512b:2ea2, 76.98.200.125, 76.98.202.103, and more. --Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 04:07, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Automated comment: @Classicwiki: This request cannot be parsed. Please ensure it follows formatting consistent with the current or previous methods of submission.—cyberbot ITalk to my owner:Online 04:07, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Additionally not all articles have been successfully revdel'ed. Some still require it. If there is a range block that is obvious, that might be useful as well. --Classicwiki (talk) If you reply here, please ping me. 04:09, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Checking to see if protection is necessary. @Classicwiki: In the future, please list the specific articles with significant disruption. It's only a subset of the articles. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 04:47, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Not done — that template has not been edited for like 6 months!El_C 04:49, 25 May 2024 (UTC)- Sorry, Daniel Quinlan, missed your checking. El_C 04:50, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Semi-protected. I've protected the articles with the most disruption. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 05:02, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- User(s) blocked: 76.98.202.103 (talk · contribs). Other recent IPs also blocked by other administrators. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 05:02, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
Burnout Revenge
- Burnout Revenge (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Repeat adding of poorly sourced/unsourced popular culture section to the article, two editors repeatedly refuse to follow MOS:POPCULT and provide reliable sources. TheDeviantPro (talk) 04:09, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
- Extended confirmed protected for a period of 3 days, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Hopefully, this brief enhanced protection will get that point across, TheDeviantPro. El_C 04:53, 25 May 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – IP's persistently changing content without edit summary/explanation. - . LouisAragon (talk) 16:57, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- Question: It's a little hard for me to tell, and the talk page isn't too illustrative, but is this not just a content dispute? ~ Amory (u • t • c) 18:54, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
- @Amorymeltzer: It appears the IP hopper in question made the initial contentious edit,[1] which was subsequently reverted. So not only has said operator violated WP:WAR (and WP:SOCK, de facto), but also WP:BRD. They should discuss contentious edits on the talk page, not on the article itself through sheer reverting. - LouisAragon (talk) 21:36, 22 April 2019 (UTC)
Broward County Sheriff's Office
- Broward County Sheriff's Office (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Broward County's sheriff's department is currently in the news due to this viral video: https://www.cnn.com/videos/us/2019/04/21/florida-broward-teen-rough-arrest-vpx.wplg
This has led to some vandalism of the article, e.g. this edit: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Broward_County_Sheriff%27s_Office&oldid=893601279. Vrrajkum (talk) 22:12, 22 April 2019 (UTC)

Vaporwave
Indefinite extended confirmed: Persistent disruptive editing – As seen in the past few months, Vaporwave's wiki page has been edited to include unsourced, poorly sourced, or generally disruptive editing that may or may not be seen as vandalism. A large amount of these edits are by IP addresses, users with only a few edits, and generally not by extended confirmed users. Protecting the page so only extended confirmed users can edit would significantly reduce the amount of unhelpful, unconstructive and poorly done edits that would most likely be reverted anyway, essentially wasting the time of users who revert such edits. Alligator gar
- Alligator gar (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – IP keeps reverting to add improper grammar. Atsme Talk 📧 00:25, 23 April 2019 (UTC)
- Comment. In this case I have to say that agree with at least some of what the IP has posted. For instance, one of the sentences under discussion presently reads as follows:
- Anecdotal evidence in several scientific reports suggest that an alligator gar can grow up to 10 ft (3.0 m) in length.
- This is incorrect. The subject of the sentence is evidence, evidence is always singular, therefore the sentence should be:
- Evidence[singular subject] suggests[singular verb] (not the present "Evidence [singular subject] suggest [plural verb]", see University of Sydney blog here and Wiktionary "uncountable" nouns & Wiktionary 'uncountable' definition.
- There might be more issues that are grammatical in nature but this case of subject/verb agreement is simply the first one I came across... Shearonink (talk) 00:44, 23 April 2019 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

2014 Isla Vista killings
- 2014 Isla Vista killings (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
I would like to request that someone give this article a serious look through. There are numerous grammatical errors, as if someone who is not a native English speaker wrote it. Errors are primarily subject/verb agreement. 133.130.185.232 (talk) 01:29, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- This isn't really an edit request. Daniel Case (talk) 23:15, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{Pagelinks}} template and then the reason. It looks like this:
