Revision as of 17:16, 26 January 2021
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for increase in protection level
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Indefinite pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Multiple IP user violating BLP by changing surname from Shon to Son. [1][2][3][4]. — Paper9oll (📣 • 📝) 04:28, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Paper9oll: It's not vandalism: see the comments from 2014 at the top of the talk page (there is confusion about Shon/Son). There should be a more recent explanation of why the changes are being reverted. Johnuniq (talk) 09:50, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Johnuniq: As per source provided in the article, you can see the image depicted her surname as Shon. In addition, the link provided in the talk page also listed her name as Shon. Furthermore, user Lonedirewolf didn't provide RS to support his claims on Son usage either. In fact, I'm not the only editor reverting it, other watcher that normally edits Korean-related article also reverted it. — Paper9oll (📣 • 📝) 10:04, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- Good, but persuading me is not relevant. The point is that an explanation should be on article talk and passing editors should be encouraged (with a link in the edit summary of reverts) to see that explanation and discuss if wanted. Johnuniq (talk) 10:11, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Johnuniq: Erm okay, I forgot to also mentioned that the article have 3 RS (inclusive the talk page link and also 1 link of school website) supporting her surname. Also, it isn't really my fault for not directing IP user to the talk page (frankly speaking, only minority of IP user would bothered about going to talk page. If it's registered user, I can expect to be more interested) as other editor with more experience and higher edit count, didn't do as well. Looks talking so much, won't likely change your mind, so

Temporary pending changes: Persistent addition of unsourced or poorly sourced content. ~ ItsJustLukas talk|Contribs 23:33, 25 January 2021 (UTC)
Jason Smith (politician)
- Jason Smith (politician) (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent deletion of references to Smith's family and personal connection to a puppy mill by anonymous editors. Eponymous-Archon (talk) 00:55, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Declined @Eponymous-Archon: No way does a WP:BLP of a politician feature a section on the sins of his mother. I'll watch the article for a while and see if there is any reason that editors repeatedly adding that should not be blocked. For example, a reason would be that the matter was discussed at WP:BLPN where consensus was in favor of the undue material. Johnuniq (talk) 08:31, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- @Johnuniq: thanks for the action. I think part of the mitigation here is that the politician himself owned the establishment in question, so the “sins of the mother” are, in this case, his as well. -Eponymous-Archon (talk) 12:37, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Malayalam
Semi-protection: @ThaThinThaKiThaTha user authoritative over the page. Not ready to accept any additions or any constructive changes with sources or any links to make the page richer in information. Constantly requesting for sources even if it has been given before hand. Seems like the person is trying to prove his point. Naveen Ramanathan (talk) 09:56, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
WWE Superstar Spectacle
- WWE Superstar Spectacle (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent disruptive editing – Persistent vandalism, removal of reliable WP:PROWRESTLING sources by anonymous contributors who are choosing to add unreliable sources, removing spoilers which are allowed, and being generally disruptive by deleting important information about the event in question. Pokkeballs17 (talk) 11:45, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

- Shaun Rooney (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – IPs are socking by adding “The Belshill Cafu” to the article instead of his real name. Cupper52 (talk) 14:23, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent disruptive and false edits, following Conte's resignation as Prime Minister, which will be effective only when (and if) a new cabinet will be sworn in. -- Nick.mon (talk) 14:41, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – There seems to be rewriting of history in recent weeks on this page using unreliable sources. One user was recently blocked after sock puppet investigation, a newly registered user, Prem Mathurr is peddling the same content. Jonathansammy (talk) 15:48, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Battle of Mu'tah
- Battle of Mu'tah (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Semi-protection: The amount of times this article has suffered from disruption by IPs/new accounts who change the result to something like 'Muslim victory' (completely disregarding the cited sources in favour of their own POV and/or WP:JDLI) is mindboggling. Please put some kind of protection template on this article so these edits don't get through so easily. HistoryofIran (talk) 15:51, 26 January 2021 (UTC)

Semi-protection: unconfirmed IP persistently reverting edits by autoconfirmed users and pushing POV, has been going on for weeks. (talk) 17:15, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
Current requests for reduction in protection level
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Montana Tucker
- Montana Tucker (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: This page has been protected in 2008, after several attempts at COI biographies. In other words, very much justified at that time. 16 years have passed and by now she passes the GNG. I wish to undo what is by now an injustice. gidonb (talk) 22:43, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Gidonb: Do you have a ready draft article you could use to help justify unprotecting it? —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 22:47, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- I have something on my machine I plan to use once unprotected. It's not very organized. I will add plenty of references and tie to the many pages where she is currently mentioned.[5] It's a similar effort really to the Brian Balmages article that I recreated. Was also understandably removed for peacock, yet notable. gidonb (talk) 22:53, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
Module:RFX report
- Module:RFX report (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Downgrade to semi-protection to match Template:RFX report, which is the only template that invokes this module. They are both transcluded on 389 other pages. (For a period of three months in 2022 the module was transcluded on >5000 pages because of this edit, later reverted, so the bot template-protected it.) If semi is too low, please increase Template:RFX report to match the module. SilverLocust 💬 06:24, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Module:Rfx
- Module:Rfx (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Reason: Downgrade to semi-protection from template-protection. Transcluded on 490 pages. It is invoked by Module:RFX report, so the bot template-protected it in 2022 for the same reason. SilverLocust 💬 06:24, 5 June 2024 (UTC)
Talk:List of lighthouses in China
- Talk:List of lighthouses in China (edit | subject | history | links | watch | logs)
Unprotection: There is no edit warring or disruptive edits to the list under the article namespace. Neither are there disruptive edits to the talk page. Talking doesn't affect the article itself. 220.246.55.231 (talk) 13:51, 22 January 2021 (UTC)

Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I would like to request that... (the map be updated to show that Israel now controls the entire Gaza-Egypt border) . LordOfWalruses (talk) 15:25, 30 May 2024 (UTC)

- @48JCL: Unregistered and non-extended-confirmed editors are allowed to request edits to ARBPIA pages here. —Jéské Couriano v^_^v threads critiques 15:09, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- The talk page Talk:Israel-Hamas War is protected, therefore edit requests by non-extended-confirmed users land here. That is acceptable, and this request made above is reasonable. The people who actually do participate on that talk page should be reviewing requests here that remain open and haven't been declined for days. ~Anachronist (talk) 20:30, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
Create a level 3 header with a link to the article in question, then a {{pagelinks}} template and then the reason.
