Revision as of 18:56, 17 November 2013
Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here. | |
---|---|
Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection) After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism. Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here |

Current requests for protection
Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

- Request permanent protection from creation due to repeat creations. Also might as well do Megan Nicole for when they work out how to write English properly. Barney the barney barney (talk) 18:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
List of changes in Star Wars re-releases (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Reverts and vandalism within several months had gone unnoticed. George Ho (talk) 18:44, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
David Graham (actor) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Persistent date of birth original research, bordering on disruption. For more than a year, one or more unregistered users, operating from a wide range of IPs, have been re-inserting an unverifiable full DOB. SuperMarioMan 17:39, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Jacoby Ellsbury (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: BLP violations. Someone said that Ellsbury is signing for the Mets but it's not legit. There are no other news articles nor MLB.com saying that Ellsbury was going to sign for the Mets.
Kshama Sawant (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary pending changes: BLP policy violations – This version of Kshama Sawant needs to be restored and the page protected from further reverts until consensus is reached at Talk:Kshama_Sawant#Editorializing_and_using_the_word_choice_of_critics. Negative information about living persons should be very well sourced and should be kept out of articles when in doubt, or when disupted. Dennis Bratland (talk) 17:24, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- To label the relevant information negative is subjective and likely not backed by the subject of the article as she has self-identified as she is characterized in the article. The information is neither libelous nor untrue. This is a matter that can be resolved without page protection, through normal consensus building channels, and will be resolved with finality once the existing reliable sources are review. GraniteSand (talk) 17:32, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
George Harrison (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – This featured article is the almost constant target of IP hopping vandals. This goes back several months, and every time protection lapses it's back to the same old time-wasting disruption. GabeMc (talk|contribs) 17:05, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Automated comment: A request for protection/unprotection was recently made for this page, and was denied at some point within the last 8 days. —cyberbot I NotifyOnline 17:13, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Template:Angle bracket ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite semi-protection' Just had our first case of vandalism, and this formats the text in quite a few articles already. — kwami (talk) 17:01, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Already protected by administrator Future Perfect at Sunrise. Armbrust The Homunculus 18:48, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Template:AFC submission/tools ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite template protection: Highly visible template – This is a sub-template of of the TE protected AFC submission /declined /draft etc templates and should be protected in the same manner. Thank you. Technical 13 (talk) 16:14, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
2013 Pacific typhoon season (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Many IPs keep adding false information and a lot of content without using reliable sources. Sometimes it is just plain vandalism. Reverting all the time is very annoying. United States Man (talk) 14:37, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Alec Baldwin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism, BLP violations. There are rumors that Baldwin was caught yelling at a FOX News reporter and performing anti-gay slurs. Furthermore, he was suspended by MSNBC for 2 shows. ModernSportsEra (talk) 14:32, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Brian Lara (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Indefinite semi-protection: BLP policy violations – I request page protection because this page is a biography of a renowned cricketer and there are chances of persistent vandalism. Param Mudgal (talk) 12:45, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Toyota Tercel (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection: IP-hopping, edit-warring vandal. Similar situation to several articles that were protected yesterday. Lukeno94 (tell Luke off here) 11:26, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Talk:Jay-P ( | article | history | links | watch | logs)
Indefinite create protection: Repeatedly recreated – recreated again, this time to the talk page. Fiddle Faddle 11:13, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Gurkha (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Semi-protection for indefinite: Unsourced editing and IP vandalism still continues in the article. Temporary protection is not working here. -Owsert (talk) 10:21, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Photography (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Soerfm (talk) 08:27, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Semi-protected for six months. Acalamari 17:12, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Hijackers in the September 11 attacks (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – I can't find a substantial good edit by IP; minor edits I can push aside. George Ho (talk) 07:58, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Acalamari 17:19, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Rumiko Takahashi (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Unsure if BLP policy is violated this year, but someone last year wrote a death date that wasn't confirmed. Fortunately, it was reverted. George Ho (talk) 07:54, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Hardly any edits being made at all. Acalamari 17:19, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Latin hip hop (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: There have been reverts, one self-revert. Also, there was removal of unsourced content. George Ho (talk) 07:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Acalamari 17:17, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
History of film (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – It happened last month, and it's happening this month. George Ho (talk) 07:34, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Acalamari 17:16, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Kate Beckinsale (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – I can't tell whether BLP policy is violated, but I don't see any good contributions by any IP this year. George Ho (talk) 07:11, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Acalamari 17:14, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Kate Moss (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Pending changes: Persistent vandalism – Maybe BLP policy is violated or not, but there have been reverts, including self-reverts lately. George Ho (talk) 07:08, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
- Declined – Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection. Acalamari 17:14, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Current requests for unprotection
Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.
Ed Emery (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Unprotection: I don't get it. This page is protected for just one vandalism? Why not pending changes if "unprotection" is too much? I tried asking the prot. admin. about this, but he's not responded. George Ho (talk) 18:42, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Ancient China (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)
Unprotection: Only 2 vandalism edits at ANY time. 2AwwsomeTell me where I screwed up. See where I screwed up 16:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- Plus one instance of page move vandalism. 2AwwsomeTell me where I screwed up. See where I screwed up 16:28, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- Have you asked the protecting admin, User:NawlinWiki to consider unprotecting? Mark Arsten (talk) 21:58, 16 November 2013 (UTC)
- This is a redirect to the Ancient China section of History of China. Is there some reason this needs to be edited? NawlinWiki (talk) 12:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.
Fulfilled/denied requests
