If you believe someone has chosen an inappropriate username under Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here. However, before listing the user here, please consider contacting the user on his or her talk page and bring their attention to the problem and Wikipedia:Changing username.
When contacting the user, {{subst:UsernameConcern|reason for objection}} or {{subst:uncon|reason for objection}} may be helpful, but feel free to paraphrase it or write your own original text if you prefer. Please try to assume good faith and don't bite the newcomers, if possible: allow for the possibility of innocent error or other reasonable explanation.
Names that are offensive, inflammatory, impersonating an existing user, or asserting inappropriate authority will generally be permanently blocked by admins. Please also read Wikipedia:Username before reporting here. Grossly, blatantly, or obviously inappropriate usernames should be reported at WP:AIV instead.
Be aware that usernames are subject to specific criteria which differ from controls and guidelines regarding other forms of self-expression on Wikipedia. Please ensure you are familiar with the username policy before commenting on a username. This is not the place to discuss the behavior of a user unless it is directly related to their username.
Please inform all users reported here with {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}} or {{subst:und}}. If the RFC is closed as "Allow", please follow up by informing the user with {{subst:UsernameAllowed}} or {{subst:una}}. Admins who impose username blocks, please detail the specific reason with {{UsernameBlocked|reason for block}} or {{unb|reason for block}} (not just "Violates WP:U", please).
This page is for bringing attention to usernames which may be in violation of Wikipedia's username policy. Before listing a username here, consider if it should be more appropriately reported elsewhere, or if it needs to be reported at all:
- Report blatantly inappropriate usernames, such as usernames that are obscene or inflammatory, to Wikipedia:Usernames for administrator attention.
- For other cases involving vandalism, personal attacks or other urgent issues, try Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents; blatant vandalism can also be reported at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism, which is sometimes a better option.
Do NOT post here if:
- the user in question has made no recent edits.
- you wish to have the block of a user reviewed. Instead, discuss the block with the blocking administrator (see also Wikipedia:Blocking policy § Unblocking).
Before adding a name here you MUST ensure that the user in question:
- has been warned about their username (with e.g. {{subst:uw-username}}) and has been allowed time to address the concern on their user talk page.
- has disagreed with the concern, refused to change their username and/or continued to edit without replying to the warning.
- is not already blocked.
If, after having followed all the steps above, you still believe the username violates Wikipedia's username policy, you may list it here with an explanation of which part of the username policy you think has been violated. After posting, please alert the user of the discussion (with e.g. {{subst:UsernameDiscussion}}). You may also invite others who have expressed concern about the username to comment on the discussion by use of this template.
Add new requests below, using the syntax {{subst:rfcn1|username|2=reason ~~~~}}.

Hey everyone. Please take a look at Template:UsernameBlocked-vandal. It has slightly annoyed me that when we block a blatantly trolling name (like User:SomeAdminIsAJerk), it would be nice to have a template to use other than our "good faith" block template. This one would be purely for blocks where the user unquestionably is trolling with their name or is obviously a banned user (like User:I'mCPlotHaHaHa or something). Any thoughts? --BigDT 19:36, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm like the "If you would like to discuss the block, you may appeal on your talk page or email the administrator who blocked you." stuck on the end. My own thoughts are why bother? Why feed the trolls by giving them a special template at all, just block them and move on, no need to tag userpages etc. For those most obvious of obvious blocks it's all pretty irrelevant. --pgk 19:42, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I like the idea of a separate template for blatantly trolling names, as opposed to good-faith names that violate one of our requirements and have to be changed for a technical reason or because they are too close to someone else. In the blatant cases, I haven't wanted to use the username-block template inviting them to change their names, so I've either been using "vandalblocked" or just writing a sentence. This would be easier. (I'm not sure if the template name is perfect, since they might not have vandalized yet; maybe call it {{GrosslyImproperUsername}} (though that's too long) or something like that. - Please take this to Wikipedia talk:Template messages/User talk namespace and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject_user warnings. WP:RFCN is for discussing questionable usernames. Grossly, blatantly, or obviously inappropriate usernames go over to WP:AIV. But neither of these are template discussion boards. The first two links I provided are. -- Ben 19:50, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- Also please see Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard/Archive74#Optional parameter in the .22usernameblock.22 .28.22unb.22.29 template. You can (and really should) specify the precise reason for a username block with {{usernameblock|reason for block}} or {{unb|reason for block}} -- then the boilerplate text -- ..."it may be rude or inflammatory, unnecessarily long/confusing, too similar to an existing user, contains the name of an organization or website, or is otherwise inappropriate"... -- goes away and is replaced by your own text.
- If you enter: {{unb|"Charles Prince of Wales" too closely resembles the existing username "The Outlaw Josey Wales"}}
you get: Your username has been blocked indefinitely because "Charles Prince of Wales" too closely resembles the existing username "The Outlaw Josey Wales" (see our blocking and username policies for more information). (and the rest of the template stays the same)
- Likewise for: {{unb|it is obscene, offensive, and made my cat throw up on the keyboard}}
- You don't need a whole separate template for that.
- For blocking admins to consistently use that feature would certainly cut down on our head-scratching here at WP:RFCN over "Why was this name blocked?" -- Ben 20:10, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- I think you haven't been following the news on the upgraded and standardized user warning templates. The entire test* series is going away. What you want to accomplish is already done by {{subst:uw-block3|offensive username, see [[WP:U]]}}. Please see WP:UTM, and, again, please move this discussion to either or both of those template discussion pages (which WP:RFCN is not). Thanks! -- Ben 21:00, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

This is being used to create an article in User Space which links to another article in User Space. Likely created by User:Aadenton whose own User Page looks like an article about himself. Try saying it out loud. Actually, since this looks like a vandalism account, perhaps it should go straight to the AIV page... Grutness...wha? 00:12, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
