Requested moves is a process for requesting the retitling (moving) of an article, template, or project page on Wikipedia. For retitling files, categories and other items, see When not to use this page.
Please read the article titling policy and the guideline regarding primary topics before moving a page or requesting a page move.
Any autoconfirmed user can use the Move function to perform most moves (see Help:How to move a page). If you have no reason to expect a dispute concerning a move, be bold and move the page. However, it may not always be possible or desirable to do this:
- Technical reasons may prevent a move; for example, a page may already exist at the target title and require deletion, or the page may be protected from moves. See: § Requesting technical moves.
- Requests to revert recent, undiscussed, controversial moves may be made at WP:RM/TR. If the new name has not become the stable title, the undiscussed move will be reverted. If the new name has become the stable title, a requested move will be needed to determine the article's proper location.
- A title may be disputed, and discussion may be necessary to reach consensus: see § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves. The requested moves process is not mandatory, and sometimes an informal discussion at the article's talk page can help reach consensus.
- Unregistered and new (not yet autoconfirmed) users are unable to move pages.
Requests are generally processed after seven days. If consensus to move the page is reached at or after this time, a reviewer will carry out the request. If there is a consensus not to move the page, the request will be closed as "not moved". When consensus remains unclear, the request may be relisted to allow more time for consensus to develop, or the discussion may be closed as "no consensus". See Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions for more details on the process.
Wikipedia:Move review can be used to contest the outcome of a move request as long as all steps are followed. If a discussion on the closer's talk page does not resolve an issue, then a move review will evaluate the close of the move discussion to determine whether or not the contested close was reasonable and consistent with the spirit and intent of common practice, policies, and guidelines.
When not to use this page
Separate processes exist for moving certain types of pages, and for changes other than page moves:
- Making an uncontroversial move – if you can, be bold and do it yourself! If you can't, see § Requesting technical moves.
- Renaming a category – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming a stub template – propose the move at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion.
- Renaming an image or other file – see Wikipedia:Moving a page § Moving a file page.
- Moves from draft namespace or user space to article space – Unconfirmed users: add
{{subst:submit}}
to the top of the article. See Wikipedia:Articles for creation. Confirmed users: Move the page yourself. - Merging two articles – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed mergers, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Splitting an article – make a request at Wikipedia:Proposed article splits, or be bold and do it yourself.
- Requesting that page histories be merged – list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge.
- Contesting a move request close – use the Wikipedia:Move review process.
Undiscussed moves
Autoconfirmed editors may move a page without discussion if all of the following apply:
- No article exists at the new target title;
- There has been no previous discussion about the title of the page that expressed any objection to a new title; and
- It seems unlikely that anyone would reasonably disagree with the move.
If you disagree with a prior bold move, and the new title has not been in place for a long time, you may revert the move yourself. If you cannot revert the move for technical reasons, then you may request a technical move.
Move wars are disruptive, so if you make a bold move and it is reverted, do not make the move again. Instead, follow the procedures laid out in § Requesting controversial and potentially controversial moves.
Uncontroversial requests
Only list proposals here that are clearly uncontroversial but require administrator help to complete (for example, spelling and capitalization fixes). Do not list a proposed page move in this section if there is any reasonable possibility that it could be opposed by anyone. Please list new requests at the bottom of the list in this section and use {{subst:RMassist|Old page name|Requested name|Reason for move}} rather than copying previous entries. The template will automatically include your signature. No edits to the article's talk page are required. If you object to a proposal listed here, please relist it in the #Incomplete and contested proposals section below.
- Douce II of Provence → Douce II, Countess of Provence — Consistency with Douce I of Provence. — Srnec (talk) 19:22, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- ONE (TV channel) → One (TV channel) —(Discuss)— ONE is not an acronym-MOSCAPS and trademarks --Falcadore (talk) 09:57, 29 April 2009 (UTC)
- Australian Rules Football → Australian football -- Because it is the official name for the sport - "not Australian rules football" which is an unofficial name. "Australian rules football" should redirect to "Australian football" rather than the other way around which it is currently. --Rulesfan (talk) 15:23, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Actual move is Australian rules football → Australian football. 199.125.109.135 (talk) 16:33, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Michael Chaney (Australian businessman) → Michael Chaney — no need for the dab — 202.89.181.179 (talk) 16:51, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Norm Macdonald (Canadian comedian) → Norm Macdonald (comedian). Unnecessary disambiguation. -- Wikipedical (talk) 17:43, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Old Stagecoach Trail → Old Santa Susana Stage Road — "Old Santa Susana Stage Road" (now a redirect) is on the National Register of Historic Places and should be the article name. "Old Stagecoach Trail" is the name of the modern hiking trail that follows the Old Santa Susana Stage Road; it is non-specific and wouldn't meet notability guidelines if it didn't follow the historic Butterfield Overland Mail route. The redirects need to work the other way around. I will be expanding this article with more historic information. — PKM (talk) 18:59, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
Incomplete and contested proposals
With the exception of a brief description of the problem or objection to the move proposal, please do not discuss move proposals here. If you support an incomplete or contested move proposal, please consider following the instructions above to complete the proposal, and move it to the "Other proposals" section below under the current date. Proposals that remain incomplete after seven days will be removed.

3 May 2009
- Israel_and_the_apartheid_analogy → Allegations of Israeli apartheid —(Discuss)— The article is about allegations of Israeli apartheid, and should be titled such. Current title is awkward. Consensus that such allegations exist. Would have moved the article myself, but a suspected sock and indef blocked user edited the redirection page to make such a thing difficult. --ScWizard (talk) 21:06, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Gideon Levy (journalist) → Gideon Levy - only one G.Levy, no need for disambig. JaakobouChalk Talk 18:11, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Maglia rosa → Pink jersey —(Discuss)— I think this should be moved to the English. --Nosleep break my slumber 13:46, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- The Watchtower Announcing Jehovah's Kingdom → The Watchtower —(Discuss)— Remove subtitle from article name per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (books)#subtitles --Jeffro77 (talk) 13:30, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Momcsilló Tapavicza → Momčilo Tapavica —(Discuss)— Momčilo Tapavica is native name of this person and article should be moved to that name according to Wikipedia policy that native names of the people are used in such cases. First name written with Hungarian alphabet was only used during olimpic games, but for most of his life, this person was known under its native name. PANONIAN 06:47, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Chicago and Northwestern Depot → Chicago and Northwestern Depot (Sycamore, Illinois) — (Discuss) — Existing name is too geographically generic — DanTD (talk) 11:49, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Chicago (CTA Brown Line) → Chicago (CTA Brown and Purple Lines) — (Discuss) — Station is shared by two lines and would be consistent with naming standards of other 'L' stations that share lines — DanTD (talk) 11:40, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- JX (artist) → Jake Williams —(Discuss)— Jake Williams had a number of equally notable stagenames, namely "Rex the Dog" and JX, therefore rather than naming the title as a currently obsolete stagename (JX) or his current stagename (Rex the Dog); the proposal will makes things simpler --Donnie Park (talk) 02:23, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
2 May 2009
- Isuzu Amigo → Isuzu MU — (Discuss) — per Wikipedia:WikiProject Automobiles/Conventions, "Article titles shall bear the name used in the original market by the original manufacturer or marketer, regardless of sales. So a car designed in Japan primarily for the United States market would bear the name used in Japan." Since the Isuzu MU is a Japanese car, the "Isuzu MU" name should be used in-line with all other articles. OSX (talk • contributions) 23:18, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Exact dup of request made a week ago. 199.125.109.88 (talk) 00:06, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- This Woman's Work (song) → This Woman's Work —(Discuss)— Hopefully non-controversial move. The only two items on the page for This Woman's Work are both to do with Bush. As the source of inspiration for the boxset, the song's article should really take preference. --Sceptre (talk) 20:12, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Virgil Franklin Partch → Virgil Partch —(Discuss)— This cartoonist is not known by his middle name, which brings about 900 results on Google. The familiar "Virgil Partch" brings some 5000 Google results. Use of unfamiliar middle names is also a problem on other pages. For instance, see Talk:Daniel F. Galouye. --Pepso2 (talk) 14:56, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- CARKD (gene) → CARKD —(Discuss)— Article is about both the gene and the protein which the gene is named after. The current name implies that the scope of the article is only about the gene which is misleading. --Boghog2 (talk) 21:39, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- RACI matrix → Responsibility assignment matrix —(Discuss)— RACI matrix is just one example of a responsibility assignment matrix, there are several others (listed within RACI matrix article) which would be better shown under Responsibility assignment matrix. This has been proposed for two months with some agreement and no dissent. Responsibility assignment matrix has been reset as redirect to RACI matrix in preparation for the swap. --Greyskinnedboy (talk) 11:59, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- rogue software → Rogue security software — (Discuss) — The latter (the official term used by Microsoft and many anti-malware vendors) currently redirects to the former. It ought to be the other way around. —Nailbiter (talk) 07:33, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Southern Cross Station → Southern Cross railway station, Melbourne —(Discuss)— Consistency with other articles about railway stations in Melbourne. --Scott Nash (talk) 04:34, 2 May 2009 (UTC)
- Robert Searle (pirate) → Robert Searle —(Discuss)— Page at Robert Searle currently serves as a redirect to the page about the pirate, request move to remove this redirect. --shas T|C 10:20, 2 May 2009 (UTC)

- Allan Jenkins (footballer) → Allan Jenkins — (Discuss) - Reason: The article for the Morton player contains quite a bit of information, whereas the previous holder of that page was described in a single sentence. Salty1984 (talk) 20:04, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Allan Jenkins is a redirect (which went to Allan Jenkins (journalist)). I've changed it to redirect to Allan Jenkins (footballer). I am not sure that more needs to be done here, {{for}} would seem irrelevant since someone is hardly likely to find Allan Jenkins (journalist) and expect a footballer, or vice versa. Will check What Links Here just in case. SimonTrew (talk) 22:05, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- I've added otheruses -> journalist to the footballer's page, and checked the What Links Here, nothing except in User: namespace or self-referential; added dab for "Alan Jenkins" [sic] which lists the footballer, journalist, and an American comic comedian. Blanchardb fixed the dab, presumably to make it conform to a guideline I am unaware of (HAYLP!) SimonTrew (talk) 22:54, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- User:Blanchardb's edits to the DAB have been fixed by User:MuffledThud to comply with WP:MOSDAB. – ukexpat (talk) 23:08, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Allan jenkins [sic] now redirects to Allan Jenkins the dab page. Double redirect, will have to stay a while until we unravel the rest. MOSDAB irrelevant, the user asked to move to Allan Jenkins, not to make it a dab page. I didn't; blanchardb didn't; you did. SimonTrew (talk) 23:15, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- dabs all now work as expected; still a little uncomfortable that though this is probably the best solution it is not what was asked for. SimonTrew (talk) 23:27, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Move need: 1918 flu pandemic → 1918 influenza pandemic — (Discuss) — Reason: flu is a slang term, influenza is more correct. '1918 influenza pandemic' is currently a redirect to '1918 flu pandemic'. Yug (talk) 13:29, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

- Biomedical research → Medical research —(Discuss)— Medical research is currently a redirect to Biomedical research. However, the content of the article more closely relates to medicine in general as opposed to its subset biomedicine, so the 'bio' prefix would be imprecise and misleading, in contravention to WP:PRECISION. Also, to observe WP:COMMONAME, while 'biomedical' and 'medical' are commonly and mistakenly used interchangeably in popular usage due to the difficulty in drawing the line between medical research that is non-biomedical and research that is biomedical, 'medical research' is still the more commonly-used phrase in relation to such topics that could arguably qualify as both. --Ariedartin JECJY Talk 09:15, 1 May 2009 (UTC)
- Kim Taeyeon (Girls' Generation) → Taeyeon — (Discuss) — Well, first off, the original name wouldn't fly per WP:MOS. Second, the girl goes by her first name as her stage name (she's referred only as "Taeyeon" in the news). Third, this wouldn't be a problem at all because in the AFD I said that I would move it here because it wasn't created yet, but someone created it yesterday and made it into a redirect into a redirect into a disambiguation page that goes back to this. So a direct link would be easier. :P — SKS2K6 (talk) 19:49, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Copa Libertadores 2009 group stage → Copa Libertadores 2009 Second Stage —(Discuss)— After a review of the tournament rules, this stage of the tournament is called "Segunda Fase" in Spanish, but which translates to "Second Phase" in English. But CONMEBOL (the tournament's organizer), in English documents and in their English website, do not refer to this round as the "group stage", but rather as the "Second Stage" (capitalized as such). --Digirami (talk) 05:26, 1 May 2009 (UTC)

- Domestic partnership in Maine → Same-sex marriage in Maine —(Discuss)— Marriage bill in Maine has passed Senate. It is expected to pass house soon.. should begin the transition now --Iwasblueonce (talk) 17:44, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Centrifugal force (rotating reference frame) → Centrifugal force —(Discuss)— Centrifugal force already redirects here; it is the primary topic of "centrifugal force", and "centrifugal force" is the common name for this topic. Furthermore, the only reason I can find for the current title is that it was moved here by User:Ggsgas during a prolific move vandalism campaign last year. According to naming conventions, an article should not be disambiguated any further than necessary, and the parenthetical disambiguation here is truly puzzling. --Wilhelm_meis (talk) 12:22, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
- Frank Kelly (professor) → Frank P. Kelly —(Discuss)— Usually "Frank Kelly", but there is already an article with that name. As papers published by Kelly usually referenced as "Kelly, F.P." this proposed title, without the qualifier, seems like a better page title to me. Some may know Kelly better from his role as Master of Christ's College, rather than as a professor. --Gareth Jones (talk) 11:54, 30 April 2009 (UTC)

Since it is simultaneously broadcasting at W250BC and WWWQ-HD2, and translators cannot have separate articles, WWWQ-HD2 should be the correct naming. In addition, the signal originates at WWWQ-HD2, and is simply translated to terrestrial radio, so the former is a more logical name choice.
