*To claim that this is one's own work is absurd. It is clearly from Google maps. It even has a Google copyright notice on it (at the bottom, towards the right hand side). The uploader, in an edit summary, says "''I created this work entirely by myself, using google maps''". - Definitely not self-made as claimed, Animation Factory is a division of Getty Images, so likely not allowed to be used freely here on Wikipedia. The Evil IP address (talk) 09:06, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- This file comes from animationfactory, which is a commercial site and charges fees for access to its material. Its terms of use at http://www.animationfactory.com/en/company/terms.html says, among other things, that the site content is "protected by copyright, trade dress, moral rights, trademark and other laws relating to the protection of intellectual property". Nowhere on that page or anywhere else on the company's site can I find anything that remotely suggests that the material is made available for free use. This is one of a string of files from the same source uploaded by the same user, and in all cases the copyright claim made by that user is clearly completely unfounded. - Keep Apply a {{PD-textlogo}} and {{trademark}} and call it a day. This image is nothing by text. — BQZip01 — talk 11:30, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- Comment. It also contains that triangle-spiral image. I don't know if this is PD-text, though it might be fair use of a {{non-free logo}}. Cnilep (talk) 14:17, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- That "triangle spiral" is a "G" and is, therefore, text. I'm not saying there isn't some creativity, but font creativity itself is not protected by copyright law, so the "non-free logo" tag doesn't apply. — BQZip01 — talk 19:20, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
- I don't see that as a G, but given that the company's name is spelled with a G, that's certainly an argument you might win. In that case, I guess the logo would be non-copyrightable as calligraphy in the US, right? What about in Brazil, where the company is located? Does that matter, given the location of Wikimedia servers? And by the way, thanks for your patience with my questions. Cnilep (talk) 16:01, 8 March 2010 (UTC)

- This image is derived from the anime series Big O and would fall under the copyright ownership of the series' producers and/or creators. As such, it cannot be claimed as an "original work" by another party and uploaded under a Creative Commons license. —Farix (t | c) 23:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)
- The series is copyrighted, but an independent illustration of a significant plot mover from it for non-commercial purposes ought to be covered by fair use, and indeed is elswhere on WP: see for example File:Galactic_Empire_logo.svg, among many others. I'll change the copyright to non-free, with appropriate media use rationale. Senix (talk) 23:55, 7 March 2010 (UTC)
