Vivian Vachon (1951-August 25 1991) was a female professional wrestler. She was the sister of wrestlers Maurice and Paul Vachon.[3] She is also the aunt of wrestler Luna Vachon. She is considered one of the best female wrestlers of the 1970s.[2]
Early life
Diane Vachon,[2][1] born in 1951 in Montreal, grew up as one of thirteen children of Ferdinand Vachon, a Montreal police officer.
Career
She began her career in wrestling in the late 1960s while still a teenager,[2] training with her brothers Maurice and Paul, who were both champion professional wrestlers. She adopted the ring name "Vivian Vachon" (or "Viviane Vachon").
In February 1971, she became the California Women's Champion.[4] She became the American Wrestling Association's (AWA) Women's Champion for a time, defeating Bette Boucher on November 4 1971.[4]
In the early 1970s she starred in the motion picture Wrestling Queen, which also included her brothers and other wrestlers.[3][2]
Vivian retired in the mid-1970s after marrying wrestler Buddy Wolfe,[2] with whom she had a daughter named Julie. They made their home in St. Cloud, Minnesota. However, she made a short comeback in professional wrestling in Japan in 1986.[2] Vivian and her daughter Julie were both killed in a road accident after being hit by a drunk driver on August 25 1991 near Montreal.[2][1][4]
