Version 1 is an Irish company specialising in international management consulting, managed services, software development, and outsourcing company.[1] They provide technology solutions[buzzword] and services in the form of Enterprise Solutions[buzzword] (e.g. licence optimisation) and Managed Services (e.g. the continuity of online systems).[4]
History
Version 1 was established in Dublin, Ireland in 1996 by former CEO Justin Keatinge and John Mullen.[5]
In the years leading up to 2011, Version 1 was named in the Deloitte Fast 50 list[6] and employed more than 150 consultants and had annual revenues of €17.5m.[7]
In 2014, Version 1 opened its London, UK office and expanded its Belfast, Northern Ireland office.[8][9][10] Version 1 acquired the UK-based Tieto Corporation,[11][12][13] and were recognised as one of the top 50 workplaces in Europe.[14] They went on to acquire UK-based Rocela Group[7][15] along with the UK-based Patech Solutions.[16][17][18][19][20][21][22] By year end, they had a total of eight international offices employing more than 500 consultants with annual revenues of €60m.[23]
In 2017, Version 1 raised €90 million of expansion capital through a partial acquisition by the UK equity firm Volpi Capital LLP in a deal that saw a €100 million buy out of the original shareholders.[24] This investment places Version 1 among the some 1,375 SMEs that since 2008, raised almost €3.3bn worth of venture capital within Ireland.[25] Through this investment, Version 1 will expand its operations in the UK and Europe.[26]
As part of these expansion plans, in June 2018 Version 1 acquired the HR Transformation specialist Cedar Consulting Ltd. The acquisition of London headquartered Cedar Consulting is the sixth UK acquisition undertaken by Version 1.[27]
Community trust
In 2014, Version 1 initiated a Community Trust program supporting local and global charitable and sports organisations.[28] Grants are awarded on a quarterly basis, ranging in value from €500 to €5,000.[29] S public vote determines which causes receive the grants available. Voting takes place on the Version 1 Facebook site.[30] One 2015 winner was DEBRA Ireland, which won a grant of €3,500.[31]
Version 1 sponsored the 2017 Leinster Loop, that took place in the Republic of Ireland on 13 August. Leinster Loop has been nominated multiple times as Cycling Ireland's Best Cycle Event,[32] and this challenging cycle consisted of five routes spread out over 130 kilometres. All funds raised for this event went towards Breast Cancer Research and St. Laurence's GAA Community Complex.[33]
Offices
Version 1 has its headquarters in Dublin City, in Millennium house,[34] close to the river Liffey. Its UK headquarters are in London.[35] It also has offices in Cork and other UK offices in Edinburgh, Birmingham and Manchester.[36] As part of the company's continuous growth strategy, Version 1 opened its new Munster Headquarters in Cork City, Ireland in February 2019.[37]
