Vadena (German: Pfatten; Archaic (860AD): Vatina; Archaic (1242AD): Fatena) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 40 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 10 km southwest of the city of Bolzano.
As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 853 and an area of 13.5 km².[3] According to the 2001 census, 57.09% of the population speak Italian, 42.40% German and 0.51% Ladin as first language.[4]
The municipality of Vadena contains the frazione (subdivision) Piccolongo.
Vadena borders the following municipalities: Auer,Bolzano, Bronzolo, Eppan an der Weinstraße, Kaltern an der Weinstraße, Laives and Tramin an der Weinstraße.
