Irancell AfD
Thanks for listing this for AfD. After I did some research I discovered it was a copyvio. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 20:00, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
This user appealed on the unblock-en-l mailing list (since you don't have a valid email, they went there). I can send you a copy of what has been said, mail me via my talk page link. I am of a mind to allow the user another chance if they commit to not keep recreating this same article over and over... would like to discuss with you first though. ++Lar: t/c 13:41, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
Vakıflı
That was discussed on the suggestions page. Some people may not have the Turkish characters on their computers and will thus see something like Vak?fl?, which looks really unproffessional especially on the main page. It certainly cannot be avoided in the article itself, but I agree with Smurrayinchester and Free smyrnan, who found it to be better idea to only use Latin letters in the DYK hook.--Carabinieri 22:44, 25 February 2007 (UTC)
- BTW, I'm sorry I simply reverted your edit with the rollback button, I guess I should've left an edit summary explaining the revert.--Carabinieri 15:18, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
Soldier Front
I'm just wondering why you deleted the Soldier Front article. On the deletion talk page it was about half and half and in the extentsion it was about 3 to 1 for keeping it and 2 or 3 comments on it. The article followed most standards and was still being edited. I don't see the justification in deleting it. If you could reply that would be great because I worked alot on that page to get it up to standards and I really don't understand why it was deleted.
Thanks, Socerhed 15:58, 26 February 2007 (UTC)
David Hicks and spelling changes
Hi, NYC JD. The rules about spelling variants are here. I point you in particular to the following highlighted sentence: If there is a strong tie to a specific region/dialect, use that dialect. I adopted that principle because David Hicks is an Australian. We don’t spell "defence" as "defense" over here. The only concession we make is where "defense" is part of a formal title, such as the US Department of Defense. I therefore left that one alone, but changed all the references to his "defense team" etc to the Australian usage. I think this is perfectly legitimate for an article about an Australian. I’m sorry you thought this was rude. There was certainly no intention on my part to be rude. I hope you can understand where I’m coming from. Cheers. (Btw, it looks like you've been around Wikipedia for about a week; I've been a Wikipedian for over 3 years. I say in all sincerity that maybe you ought to check out the rules in future before contacting others about their apparent errors. All the best.) JackofOz 11:20, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
YeLLeY511
I note you blocked User:YeLLeY511 as a "spam-only account", and the block log states that the user is "apparently a paid promoter for a wrestler". What leads you to believe that she is a paid promoter rather than a fan? It is true she uploaded many images, but she hasn't "spammed" them on Wikipedia; they were for use in the Brimstone (wrestler) article. —Psychonaut 17:42, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- The purported email from the wrestler that s/he pasted to dozen of image talk pages leads me to believe that this person is a promoter for the wrestler. Whether s/he is paid is not material. - NYC JD (make a motion) 17:44, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- A lot of fans (especially ones who are new to Wikipedia) tend to use promotional language when writing articles on their favourite subjects. I gave YeLLeY511 the benefit of the doubt and simply tagged her article as needing cleanup. I'm sorry you didn't extend to her the same courtesy. —Psychonaut 17:50, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- She has emailed me asking for an unblock, which I have declined. Feel free to grant it if you can justify it. All I see is a spam-only account. - NYC JD (make a motion) 17:57, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not an administrator so I can't directly effect an unblock. I think more opinions would be helpful, so I have solicited them at WP:ANI#Review block of YeLLeY511. —Psychonaut 18:16, 27 February 2007 (UTC)
