Regardless of the CU's turnout for User:JeanLatore, was it appropriate of me to avoid conflict and not bring up the issue until now after he's been indefblocked? Or should I have done a report right away when I was suspicious? I suspected he wanted to continue with a grudge against me so I didn't do so, thinking that (if I'm correct) doing so would've caused a bigger disruption rather than simply letting things run their course. -<font color="007FFF" face="Arial">Warthog</font><font color="2A52BE" face="Arial">Demon</font> 19:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC) |

Thank's for the Help
Thank you for all the help you gave me. Your actually an admin I like cause some don't give respect to people unlike you. Any comments you can leave on my talk page or E-mail.--Ezekiel †alk 18:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
So I heard the debate on sigs was withdrawn. So what was the result of all that debating?--Ezekiel †alk 17:00, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

(Re [1]) Wow that WP:QUI thing is an easy way to show your status and friends status too. I almost think it's better than status bot.--Ezekiel †alk 17:40, 27 June 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!
That is the first Barnstar I ever got here! No hard feelings at all. I enjoy editing on the Simple English Wikipedia better, but edit here on occasion also. Cheers and thanks -- America †alk 20:15, 23 June 2008 (UTC)
Wow, that's strange why would he recreate it if I requested to delete it? Best Regards.--Ezekiel †alk 21:34, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- I think you accidentally created it in the template space originally. Then he moved it to your userspace. No harm done. –xenocidic (talk) 21:39, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
(Re [2]) Uh-oh, what if I accidentally all ready created an account called Ezekiel 7:19. Best Regards.--Ezekiel †alk 13:38, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

StatusBot
Hi Xeno, saw this edit. Is there anything I *need* to do? The only reason I'd added Statusbot was because I joined the highly active users project but I've never actually been contacted through that. Is there any other benefit to having on/off line status that I'm missing? It wasn't anything I thought of before the project. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 02:54, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm, nope, nothing really that you *need* to do at this time. HAU hasn't set in stone an alternate status display method. The edit summary was just a suggestion on an alternate status method for those that want one. –xenocidic (talk) 02:56, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Got it, thanks. I swear you're my official "explain things to me in English" Wiki translator. Love it, make things so much clearer. PS: Don't know anything about TVs, do you? ;) TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 03:19, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Heh, no problem! I'll have to make a userbox for that ;> hrm, a bit, what need you? =) –xenocidic (talk) 03:21, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Half kidding ;) Thanks though My brain exploded shopping for a television this evening but I found my answer (and a ~$100 price difference) on Sears.com so I think I'm OK now. Pretty soon they're going to invent TVs that get up and walk. I don't like electronics. I just want my ca. 1996 TV/VCR combo :) TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 03:43, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- That Qui status thing isn't compatible with Internet Explorer, guess I'll be left out on this one. Useight (talk) 03:47, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Yea, IE is a load of junk =) but I know some people are stuck with it. Hersfold has a status thinger that will work with IE, i think - User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate. to cari, yea, i had a hard time but did find a new HDTV last boxing day =) –xenocidic (talk) 04:02, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Think I'm getting...LCD...Oh crap. I can speak computer specs but not TV ones. It fits my essential criteria which was: power button ;) I;m not really that much of a luddite but for as little as I watch TV, I don't need bells and whistles. Re: IE -- when I moved work stations at the office the only software customization I requested was Firefox. TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 04:06, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

← Yeah, LCD is pretty much the way to go. Just make sure you're getting a minimum of 720p, preferrably 1080i, or if you're rich, 1080p. ;> –xenocidic (talk) 04:08, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
← 61 inch 1080p! color me jealous! i know the feeling enigma, I've got this 32" standard def sitting here on the floor, unused because wifey won't let me setup two TVs side-by-side. –xenocidic (talk) 13:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
(Unindent, colon farm) Enigman, does that mean my old TV won't work at all? It currently runs on digital cable and I think the letter we got from the cable company said it will be OK? Did I misunderstand that? If I don't keep my crrent one, the one I'm looking at is this. USeight, I don't think my wardrobe, on which this will live, is 61 inches! TravellingCarithe Busy Bee 15:15, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Your TV should work after the February 2009 switch as long as you some input aside from the bunny ears. If you have Dish 500, DirectTV, etc, you'll be fine. I believe it's just the analog channels coming in over the bunny ears that will cease transmission. Useight (talk) 05:16, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Bart Versieck AGAIN
I don't know if it's consequential enough to take any action, but I thought I'd point out that, yet again, Bart has broken his promise not to touch other people's talk page edits (see my comments left on LessHard vanU's page) Cheers, CP 19:17, 1 July 2008 (UTC)

Response from User:RekonDog
(Re [7]) I'm trying to update my User page, I have asked permission from User:Bahamut0013 to copy/paste; permission was granted. He is helping me out, he is going to edit the rest of the info that is "his" to "my info". We've been exchanging conversation, according to User talk:RekonDog. Learning how to use the coded text is a little complicated, so he allows me to copy and pasted what he has on his page so I can make it work on mine. Hope you understand what I'm trying to explain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by RekonDog (talk • contribs) 17:46, July 2, 2008 (UTC)

How does the statusbot work? I think I am following the instructions that it gave me...wasn't trying to re-create the page, I was doing what it said, from what I interpeted. Wanting to show my online/offline status, if you know what I mean. RekonDog (talk) 17:55, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Help
Hi. Could you do me a favor and review the United States Senate election in Oregon, 2008. I removed a polling part that included two candidates that have dropped out. Another editor reverted the edit. The point is , that with the candidated gone, why should it be kept there. It really serves no purpose. I came to you because you have been helpful to me in the past, and I was hoping you could look into this issue. Please respond on my talk page, as I am pasting what I put here on to there. Thank you so much. America69 (talk) 18:03, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- as a self-confessed Canadian, I'm trying to stay as far away from any disputes regarding the U.S. elections as I can. However, I would gather they should be left in the table for historical reasons...the polls did occur, and there were results with respect to those candidates. make sense? –xenocidic (talk) 18:06, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
IPs
Ive done more IP tagging and I came across this [8] does IP pools mean its a IP bender? EE 19:18, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't know what an IP bender is... I would gather an IP pool means it's a pool of IPs that are dynamically assigned by DHCP and the like. –xenocidic (talk) 19:19, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hey, I'm looking to be adopted.
I've been on wiki for a while, yet there are many things to learn so I'm searching for someone who can give me guidance through my journey here. I've searched for someone who is experienced yet may be compatible with my personality and you seem to be a fantastic candidate. I'd like you to consider adopting me although be aware that I may be annoying with questions at times. Thanks and let me know. Lympathy Talk 14:36, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

I currently work for an major sales company in Melbourne and I have a high IQ, so I only need to be told once, :P Lympathy Talk 14:59, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

- First question - How do I automatically archive my talk-page. I've tried but I don't think I've done it correctly?Lympathy Talk 15:07, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- The reason your talk page isn't auto-archiving is because miszabot has a default "minthreadsleft" value of 5. Since your talk page has less than 5 threads, things aren't being archived. You could add "|minthreadsleft=0" to the configuration if you don't mind your talk page being completely harvested. I also think you need to delete the "counter" line because you're using date-based archiving. –xenocidic (talk) 15:12, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- thanks, you're a legend. I still feel like I'm pulling you away from more important duties. Another question, in your opinion what sort of editing deserves a Barnstar??Lympathy Talk 15:20, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- heh, not at all. if anything, you're pulling me away from less important RL work. ;> as far as Barnstars, it's really up to each editor's discretion. they shouldn't just be handed out willy-nilly, but they also don't need to be restricted to people who've written a featured article from scratch. I typically hand out a da Vinci barnstar whenever anyone has helped me with a particularly difficult technical/wiki-code issue that I may have brought up at WP:VPT for example. or when someone may have gone thru a particular stressful wiki-incident and they don't completely implode, they'll get a resilience barnstar. stuff like that. in other words: you determine your own threshold. –xenocidic (talk) 15:24, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- One day, well in the future, I'd love to be an Admin. What sort of policies should I know well, or what should I do over the next few years if that's the direction I want to head? Lympathy Talk 15:29, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well you could check out WP:NAS. There's so many guidelines and policies you have to know, it would be tough to point you to one specific policy. In a potential admin most people like to see experience with deletion, vandal-fighting, article building, wikiproject participation, etc. Basically, a well-rounded individual. One suggestion would be to keep an eye on WP:RFA and see what people are opposing for. –xenocidic (talk) 15:38, 3 July 2008 (UTC)

3RR question
Can you take a look at Andrew Wilson (theologian)? I'd like to revert deletion of content in the middle of an AfD, which is supposed to close today, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to. Am I? I'd also appreciate your comments on the dispute as well, if you have time to read through the AfD and talk pages. Thanks! Jclemens (talk) 17:42, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- It would be your fourth revert, so, probably not a good idea. AFD isn't really my area of expertise but I'll see if I have anything intelligent to say. –xenocidic (talk) 17:48, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- I will follow your recommendations. I think I've made my point on the AfD and talk pages, so I only hope the closing admin actually reads them. Thanks for your input and review. Jclemens (talk) 17:57, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
- Do you know if any other AfD admins are around? The article debate is degenerating. Have you ever started an RfC? I'm looking for the right dispute resolution process, because there are multiple editors removing material from the article, and the AfD should have been closed already. An uninvolved third party willing to wade through things would really help--How do I go about asking for one, in this sort of a case? Jclemens (talk) 19:35, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Try Moonriddengirl, she's proven herself to be one who gives every article a fair shake. –xenocidic (talk) 19:47, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Bringing it here
Do you know anybody else who might do? As I mentioned at Keeper's talk page, I could ask DGG, because I believe he's scrupulously fair, but I don't know if he closes many AfDs. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:55, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

- All right. I know who I'm going to ask. thanks. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:19, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe you can clue me in for next time? =) –xenocidic (talk) 21:22, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- I've dropped it at User talk:PhilKnight. We'll see if he's at home and interested. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 21:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Phil didn't think he was an appropriate closer. I said I'd look on, but I'm wondering if I *should*. The AfD is picking up more responders now, which will only help make it easier to assess consensus here. I'll keep an eye on it, and if it gets lonely on the "old" list, I'll try again. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 22:55, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

- Sorry, they haven't been sufficiently warned. As a registered user you can use Twinkle which gives you an easy way to add warnings to user talk pages. –xenocidic (talk) 18:49, 3 July 2008 (UTC)
Possibly
(Re [10]) It's no different than the fact we say "Mohamed al-Kahtani was allegedly a member of al-Qaeda..." - the lack of certainty is actually put in to improve BLP standards so that we are not treating accusations and charges appear to be fact. So no, I don't see any problem with saying someone was believed "to have possibly been one of the hostagetakers" providing that claim is verifiable - which in this case, it is. ...is asking for an unblock. Thoughts? –xenocidic (talk) 01:24, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, I saw that. Might be worth trying a . If he responds positively to that, I wouldn't object to an unblock. Best, Gwernol 01:26, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
access to deleted pages
Dear Xenocidic,
I would find it helpful if I can have access to the deleted pages under "Send the Light". I have partially restored the subject owing to the importance of the subject matter, as Wikipedia was one of the ports of call some folk made on the subject.
My quest, is one of the historic deleted pages was an unsubstantiated comment by an official of "Send the Light" (a Christian Book Distributor - probably now the largest on the world) to the effect that the Christian Book Shops needed STL more than STL needed them. I wish to chase this comment up for verficiation, but the only place I saw the comment was on the Wiki "Send the Light" page. I suspect as it was not verified, it may have been removed, but accessable from the history section.
However one sysop removed the entry in May, thinking the subject material unimportant - whilst hopefully the entry will be restored (its current reapperance is under debate) - I would value access to the previous deleted pages on the entry.

Excellent!. Something we needed. Thanks. Steve Crossin (contact) 14:44, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

(Re [11])
Manners
Firstly, thanks for not blocking User talk:68.148.164.166 initially, that would've been premature. But I did take exception to your comment here. Surely, referring to a user as "it" isn't a decent way to treat someone. Just a thought, Zain Ebrahim (talk) 19:03, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm, my original comment was thus: [12] and I made a slight change so as to disambiguate from the other IP posting there. An unfortunate remnant of the change, I'll fix it now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. –xenocidic (talk) 19:05, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ah, I see. I should have checked. Sorry for the impertinence. Zain Ebrahim (talk) 19:09, 4 July 2008 (UTC)
Help Request
Thanks for your help with my userboxes. I just have one more question. How would I center the my user boxes. i.e. I have three, and id like them centered, how would I do that. In addition, Id like to know how to center one across all four rows. Putting in the colspan didnt work for me. Thanks again--omnipotence407 (talk) 22:28, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Makes perfect sense, Thank you very much for all your help.--omnipotence407 (talk) 22:38, 4 July 2008 (UTC)

Anon IP user at the Science reference desk
Hello, further to the warnings that you have made to the user here: here can I inform you that the same anon IP user is persistenly adding warnings to my talk page. I consider them to be vandalism and am reverting them. The only contact that I have had with this user is to revert their thread bumping at the science desk and posts which seek medical advice, is is against the policy of the refdesk. I feel the user would benefit from a forced wikibreak as I cannot see that the IP is being used for anything but unconstructive edits. I have once placed a warning on their talk page stating that they may be blocked if they continue to bump threads at the reference desk. The user is now placing unwarranted warning tags on my talk page. What should I do? Thanks, Jdrewitt (talk) 09:12, 5 July 2008 (UTC)

Is it possible to warn JeanLatore for the edits he made to the RFA in question. This just seems wrong. America69 (talk) 03:04, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hrm, will leave this one up to a more tenured admin. –xenocidic (talk) 03:05, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- I see you saw his RFA. Does that add to what I put above? —Preceding unsigned comment added by America69 (talk • contribs) 23:24, July 5, 2008
- It's obvious trolling, his last RFA snowed just over a week ago. but again, I'll let a more experienced admin handle it. –xenocidic (talk) 03:26, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- One last thing. Could you please look at the comments he left on my page. They were quite uncivil. Thanks. Please respond on my page. America69 (talk) 03:36, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

My Reverts
Hello Xenocidic! I have a request for U8 here but I'd appreciate it if you read it too and (hopefully) carried it out! I really value feedback.--Xp54321 (Hello! • Contribs) 04:35, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm about to hit the sack, but I checked about 10 at random and they all looked spot on. Keep it up. –xenocidic (talk) 04:41, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
JeanLatore
I've put him on a final warning. The RFA trolling and AfD trolling could be misplaced humor, but this is outright harassment. – ırıdescent 14:17, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, I just noticed that. I would endorse a block if this keeps up. No need to let trolls run loose, even if they do improve an article once in a while. –xenocidic (talk) 14:19, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
Thank You
Thank You for all your help! Is there anything else I should know? 53180 (talk) 16:08, 6 July 2008 (UTC)53180.
- No problem. nope, that should basically be your exit (?) from Wikipedia. Hope you see fit to come back. –xenocidic (talk) 16:26, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ok thanks again, I really appreciate it. 216.70.26.237 (talk) 16:28, 6 July 2008 (UTC)53180.
Curious About Conduct
Regardless of the CU's turnout for User:JeanLatore, was it appropriate of me to avoid conflict and not bring up the issue until now after he's been indefblocked? Or should I have done a report right away when I was suspicious? I suspected he wanted to continue with a grudge against me so I didn't do so, thinking that (if I'm correct) doing so would've caused a bigger disruption rather than simply letting things run their course. -WarthogDemon 19:13, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm still not too familiar with CU and when it is or is not appropriate to request one. Perhaps one of my more experienced talk page stalkers can chime in? –xenocidic (talk) 19:19, 6 July 2008 (UTC)
