Hi Wikicology. Thank you for reviewing my article earlier last month. Since then I have been editing this [[Biography of living persons]] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Avetik_Chalabyan) article to include better sources, and a more neutral and appropriate tone. At this point I have submitted it for another review. I realize that there are almost 493 articles waiting to be reviewed. Since it's been a few weeks since I resubmitted the article I just wanted to ask if everything is on the right track, and if there are any additional step that need to be taken in the meantime. |
|||
Thank you very much in advance for your advice and time. |

Re deletion of Excelsior balgerhoeke
Hi, I saw your message on the talk page of the above article, but the article was deleted before I had a chance to reply, which you probably would not have seen anyway.
If a language parameter is included in the {{not English}} template (in this case {{not English|Dutch}}), it provides a link to a Google translation of the article. Whilst a machine translation is never suitable for being pasted into the article to replace the foreign language, it does provide a good clue what the article is about and whether the topic is notable. I am quite active at WP:PNT, where the above article came to my attention. The machine translation of the article had phrases such as "we are a proud amateur team" and "we once won a third division tournament but were then relegated to fourth division". So it was quite clear that it was a non-notable amateur football (soccer) club. When a foreign-language article appears to be about a notable topic, it is listed at WP:PNT for two weeks, which gives plenty of opportunity for it to be translated. After that it is marked for deletion via PROD. I hope this alleviates your concerns. Regards, AtHomeIn神戸 (talk) 00:26, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Inaccurate claims of authorship
Hi. You have stated that several of the images you've uploaded are your own work, but I'm struggling to see how this is the case. As I've noted on commons, the EXIF data of File:Isaac_Adewole2.jpg states the author as modovictor, which I presume is this guy rather than you. Others e.g. File:Ahmed_Tijjani.jpeg look like you have taken a photograph of a photograph - this is a copyright violation as the original work was by the portrait photographer not you. Can you please clarify what's going on. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 22:42, 29 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you so much, Smatse . I'm sorry for the extremely slow response. I can see that I misunderstood "Own work". Now I clearly understand that only the original photographer can claim "Ownership" of a work. Thanks for your calmness. In the interim, please flag copyrighted images for deletion. Cheers. Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 17:19, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
- Ok thanks. I've removed the obvious ones but there are others that I'm not sure about. Can you look through the rest and tag them with {{db-g7}} or list them below if you didn't take the photographs yourself? Commons:Special:ListFiles/Wikicology also need dealing with but I can't delete them so please post on commons somewhere and list which ones need to be deleted. Thanks SmartSE (talk) 17:53, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi
I just wanted to say that I hope you will not be discouraged by the rather intense and somewhat mean-spirited scrutiny you are currently under. I think Peter Damian has a point in some of his critiques in so far as you have clearly made a number of mistakes both in terms of editing articles without proper understanding of policy for sourcing and copyrights, and in terms of representing yourself on wiki (I dont think there is a policy against calling one self an academic without being a university employee, but having so many sockpuppets clearly was a bad idea). I think however that he is being very unreasonable and unpleasant in his way of pursuing this. I think I would encourage you to just keep being calm and honest about your mistakes and show that you are willing to learn from them. I think your work on getting better representation for Nigeria and Africa related topics is extremely important, and you definitely deserve credit for that. Thanks, keep up the good spirit and keep improving the encyclopedia and yourself as an editor! ·maunus · snunɐɯ· 00:43, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Maunus and thanks for encouraging me. I'm very happy to hear from you. I want to let you know that I have no single intention to be disruptive on Wikipedia. I've always look for thousands of ways to improve Wikipedia, both in terms of editing, content creation and in terms of recruiting new editors for Wikipedia. I'm doing this because of my passion for the project and I cannot knowingly disrupt the project that I'm passionate about. We all make mistakes and its always a good idea to learn from them. Surely, I will learn from this mistakes and that will make me a better editor. I decided not to respond to Peter again not because I'm rude but because I want to remain calm as possible as I can which I think its the right thing to do. Just as I pointed out on the ANI, and as you have pointed out here, I'm not under any obligation to declare my identity on Wikipedia or to any editor. I'm not a WMF staff neither I'm I an Oversight or Checkuser. I'm a volunteer like anyone around. If I call myself a farmer for example or a philosopher on my userpage, it doesn't mean its true or false. I mean, it could be true or false and only reliable sources outside Wikipedia can validate my claims. I may choose to call myself a "Vampire" or "Goat" on Wikpedia or other Wikimedia project. I wonder why an editor will call me a liar and several other names on this basis if they found it outside Wikipedia that I'm neither " a Vampire" nor a "Goat". This is clearly against the ethics of collaboration. If Peter or any editor feels some unverified information/claims on my userpage is likely to mislead other people or editors, there are polite ways of requesting a confirmation or changes to the claims. I'm not a rigid person, I will make the changes or provide confirmation. I don't mind sending them a private email with confirmation. If I wish to declare my true identity to WMF, there are processes for doing that. No one is perfect here on Wikipedia and everyone were once new here as a Wikipedian. I understand that Peter intentionally want to embarrass and discredit me and my contributions to Wikipedia but I won't allow that to discourage me. If only Peter would know that every Wikipedians have two lives, his/her personal life and his/her life as a Wikipedian. I won't insult Peter or any editor that strongly criticize or insult me and I want to believe they are doing that in good faith with the aim of improving the encyclopedia and I will learn from their constructive criticisms. Still a learning curve. Thank you. Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 08:10, 30 March 2016 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Beacon of ICT Awards 2015
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Beacon of ICT Awards 2015 requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organized event (tour, function, meeting, party, etc.), but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. SmartSE (talk) 20:06, 30 March 2016 (UTC)
File source problem with File:CFA Agbata.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:CFA Agbata.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.
If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.
Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
ATTENTION: This is an automated, BOT-generated message. This bot DID NOT nominate your file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
Moving articles
Hi Wikicology, I was concerned to see you suggest that you would move your articles to draftspace. Please don't make any page moves of articles in mainspace. Other people have edited them, so the community will have to decide how to proceed. What you can and should do is start removing unsourced material from them.
I also want to respond to your suggestion of a clean-start account. The policy does not allow clean starts for:
- Any user who has active bans, blocks or sanctions (including, but not limited to those listed here); or is being or about to be formally discussed for their conduct; or is attempting to evade scrutiny ...
You've had several accounts, and all have caused the same types of problems, so the community has a genuine need to be able to see what you are doing. Relying on a mentor, as you suggested, would not be enough. SarahSV (talk) 18:26, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you.SlimVirgin; my blocked old accounts never caused any problems other than I wanted to write about myself. I'm just too excessively enthusiastic as a young man who is ready to learn. I never have any intention to harm the project and all have done so far is in good faith. I may not be better here but I'm better in other language Wikipedia such as the yo:Wikipedia and other areas in the movement but if anyone is willing to ADOPT me, I will be productive. What do you suggest? Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 18:57, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- It's hard to know what to suggest because the issues are so extensive.
- I think you should resign from the Individual Engagement Grants committee. You should commit to making no edits to Wikipedia that aren't directly related to your cleaning up your articles (removing the unsourced, adding sources, or asking for help in doing that). And you should tag any of your images for deletion that aren't properly licenced.
- But you shouldn't edit the medical articles you wrote. Jytdog has dealt with some of those, and perhaps all of them. But if there are still issues, you could perhaps post on their talk pages listing the unsourced or poorly sourced, and suggesting sources if you have them.
- Whether the above would be enough to save you from a community ban, I don't know. But it would go some way toward showing good faith. SarahSV (talk) 19:09, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you SlimVirgin, I would follow your advice. Wikic¤l¤gyt@lk to M£ 19:21, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- A good way to begin would be to remove all the unsourced/poorly sourced material from Child sexual abuse in Nigeria. I see you made a start, but there's quite a bit more. SarahSV (talk) 23:13, 1 April 2016 (UTC)
- Thank you, SlimVirgin. I cleaned up the article a bit. Could you please, take a look and let me know if there are more problems to be fixed.

Hi, thanks for doing that. It does look better now. I don't have time right now to look at it carefully, but a few things jumped out, and I'll mention one here in case it's helpful.
When you use UN reports and similar, go directly to the UN for the original document. You can use the news media to check that you've understood the report properly, but it's better to cite the original report. So in the BBC article you cited for "One in 10 girls sexually abused," it links to this UNICEF press release. That press release links to this UNICEF page, which contains a link to the full report. Then you have to find "one in ten girls abused." If you go to "key findings" on p. 164 and start reading, you will soon find, on p. 167.
- "Around 120 million girls worldwide (slightly more than 1 in 10) have experienced forced intercourse or other forced sexual acts at some point in their lives."
So there you have it, not from the BBC but from the BBC's source, which is much better. You can cite the report as: "Hidden in Plain Sight: A Statistical Analysis of Violence against Children", New York: UNICEF, September 2014, p. 167.
It takes longer to make that kind of edit, but it will be better anchored for the future, and you'll learn more by reading the original. If you search for Nigeria in that report, there's other material you might be able to use too. I'll look at the rest of the article more carefully tomorrow. But thanks again for doing more work on it. SarahSV (talk) 04:17, 2 April 2016 (UTC)
