Welcome!
Hi there Vasco, glad to here that you've decided to become a full-time registered WikiEditor, and as you correctly say then every edit you make under your name will add up. Here's my advice about what to do next:
- Edit your user page (User:NothingButAGoodNothing) with some brief biographical details about yourself - who you are, where you're from, what you like etc. Have a look at my page for some help.
- If you want to join WP:FOOTBALL then please simply add yourself to the list of participants. When joining the project, you should watch the WP:FOOTBALL page. This allows you to keep up-to-date with discussions about the project on the talk page. Then simply get editing, and take part in discussions about the wonderful world of football.
Happy editing! Kind regards, GiantSnowman 23:28, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
- Hey again, I've created you a basic userpage, hope it looks OK! Thanks, GiantSnowman 14:29, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Reporting vandals
Hi Vasco. It's nothing you've done wrong, and it's nothing against you at all - so don't worry. The best place to report persistent vandals of pages is at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Hope this helps! GiantSnowman 23:42, 8 March 2009 (UTC)
Vandalism
Hello. I think you can read Wikipedia:Vandalism, particularly the section How to respond to vandalism, and see what you can do.
Another way, since the pages are football-related, is to go to Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football and raise the issue there. Just point out that this vandal, using different IP addresses, has continously been putting false information on pages of AEK Athens players. There should be a few administrators out there who can help you with the problem.
Hope this helps! Chanheigeorge (talk) 03:37, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Héctor Berenguel
Hi Vasco, getting rid of duplicate articles is quite easy. All you havr to do is edit the article you DON'T want, and redirect it to the article you DO want, with something like this:
#REDIRECT Héctor Berenguel
Any more questions then just ask! Thanks, GiantSnowman 09:11, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
AIV reporting
Hi Vasco, now that you seem to be coming across edit of and being the target of more and more vandals it becomes important that your events are dealt with by a number of different administrators and that records of these events are kept in a more centralised location. To assist could you please make all future reports of vandals at this page. You'll note that there is a very precise reporting method which must be followed and that your report will be dealt with (usually) at a very fast pace. Of course I may be one of the admins that also deal with your reports there. With thanks and good luck --VirtualSteve need admin support? 21:24, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
Re: HELP!!
So that everything is archived in one place, I really would prefer you open an WP:SPI case for this if possible - you should be able to file a new case at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Pararubbas. Whether you do or not, I'll try to take a look at it later this evening; I'm in the process of heading to class right now and won't be back around until this evening. Please note, however, that I'm only going to run a checkuser scan if I feel it's necessary - if there's enough behavioral evidence to confirm they're the same, that's all I'm going to look at. Re: Rafel Sastre
Hola Vasco,
Quedo a tu disposición. Un saludo--DataSport (talk) 22:29, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
Borja Oubiña
Hello :-) Few points about my changes to Borja Oubiña.
The references are needed to show that facts in the article are correct, and to allow the reader to check where the info comes from without having to guess, which is particularly important for biographies of living people. Incidentally, the reference you added for the Benfica link mentions a fee in the region of €10m, not 12m, and doesn't mention failure to agree a fee.
The Manual of Style says we should use the same format for all dates in an article, either day first 3 October 2009, or month first October 3, 2009, not a mixture of the two (see WP:DATE#Dates). The lead section is supposed to summarise the article, which is why I added mention of his Birmingham and international career (see WP:LEAD) In the prose, we normally pipe club names, not use the full name, as in Barcelona, which displays Barcelona, not FC Barcelona. Dashes in scorelines and in year ranges, like football seasons, should be the longer dash – not the shorter hyphen - (see WP:DASH)
And this is the difficult one... Please don't take offence, because I really admire the work you do in a language not your own, and the project benefits greatly from an active editor who can access sources in so many languages. But much of your storyline reads as if it was written by a non-native speaker. As my prose would if I wrote in French: good, and definitely understandable, but I'd expect a native French-speaker to improve it. I copyedited the Borja Oubiña page how a native English-speaker might have written it.
I'm going to reinstate the Manual of Style changes, because all English WP articles are supposed to comply with the MoS (but not yet, because I'm away for a couple of days :-) I'm not going to revert-war over the prose, but I don't really see what the problem is with trying to make the English more natural. regards, Struway2 (talk) 20:18, 3 October 2009 (UTC)
- Hello Vasco. Just to make myself clear, I don't think your English is poor. The Oubiña article is on my watchlist, and the MoS edits needed doing, so while I was there, I copyedited the prose, that's all. I've now redone the MoS bits and updated the state of his knee now he's had the first operation.
- Your reasoning for hiding or translating foreign words like Primera División is an interesting one. At the time, the article just said "second bottom in the league", which begs the question "what league?" My reasoning is, the reader shouldn't have to click on a link to get that basic question answered, so I put it in explicitly. If the reader just wants the name of the league or division then it's there, but if they want to find out more, then they can click. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:09, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
User:Marvingroves
Hi there Vasco. If I was you, I would keep an eye on his contributions. Revert any vandalism you see and then immediately give him a warning (templates can be found at WP:WARN); if he chooses to ignore the warnings then report him to WP:AIV. Any problems, give me a shout and I'll help you out. Cheers, GiantSnowman 10:58, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
- At the top of every article there should be a tab called 'Watch' (next to ones such as 'Article', 'Talk page', 'Edit' etc.) - click on 'Watch' to watch a page. Then you will find a tab called 'My watchlist' which notes all changes to pages on your watchlist - voila! GiantSnowman 13:57, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Regarding your questions to me
Hi, first don't give up on trying to put your edits in at Death of Baby P. The problem I saw, this is trying to remember from off the top of my head so apologies in advance, is mostly concerns with Biographies of a living person With articles about people the rules are real strict for obvious reasons. With the horrendous nature of this crime it has brought out a lot of emotions in some people too which makes me maybe a little too cautious. I took a quick glance at what I reverted and maybe I was incorrect about doing a complete reverse, I'm not sure. I recently had surgery on my spine so I am having a bit of trouble focusing my thoughts so I do apologise for that. There is nothing at all for you to apologize for though. May I suggest you rereading what you put in and taking the simplier things you said you did and readd them. I found that the tone of how you were commenting on the people who did the crime was too strong. Now I could be wrong about this and wouldn't mind at all if you asked someone else to take a look. I am just slowly coming back to editing but with the pain meds, physical therapy I tire real easy which makes it easier for me to make an error. If you would like in the morning I will relook at what you put into the article and see what it was, I just can't right now. I hope you understand. But mainly, don't worry about this. Everything can be reverted so be bold. Happy editing, --CrohnieGalTalk 16:15, 14 October 2009 (UTC)
- Just want to let you know that it was my mistake not yours. I had an editor I trust check my revert of yours and for the most part your additions were good and I shouldn't have reverted. Please except my apologies for this error. You can see what was said about your edits on my talk page by User:Wildhartlivie. Thank you in advance, --CrohnieGalTalk 09:00, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe you can be trusted to use rollback correctly, and for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Re pedido
Novamente, peço pra você denuncia-lo a algum administrador...

Sergio (Busquets)
Hi man, thanks for relaying the message. Could you please tell Picolotto for me that I was only going by what the Sergio Busquets article said, so when he removed the bit saying that he is commonly known as "Sergio", it seemed like he was changing facts to suit himself. If it is not true that he is known as "Sergio", then you may convey my apologies to Picolotto, but I was simply going by what the article said at the time. – PeeJay 17:36, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Vasco. The basic reason why we put Tottenham Hotspur rather than Tottenham is because it's the club's name. Wikipedia isn't a paper encyclopedia, so there's no need to leave out significant bits of the name for space-saving reasons. Obviously in the prose we don't need to say Tottenham Hotspur every time, it'd be unnatural, but the infobox is an at-a-glance summary of the player's career, so it's helpful to the reader to make it clear what we're on about, especially for those readers who don't actually know that Tottenham is the same as Tottenham Hotspur.
With Al-Ahli, obviously Doha isn't part of the club's name, but it's helpful to include it so the reader doesn't have to follow links or go through the article to see which of the many clubs of that name it is.
As to linking the countries, see WP:LINK#What generally should not be linked. I'd guess "most readers of the English Wikipedia" would understand what Germany is, given that it was only linking to the country and not to anything particularly relevant to an article about a footballer. Have a good Christmas!! cheers, Struway2 (talk) 23:27, 22 December 2009 (UTC)

Hello Vasco, and greetings from snowy England. I don't have a problem with the particular wording used in the lead section, or anywhere else in the article, so long as it's factual, reads well in English, and complies with Wikipedia standards. As to factual, he hasn't played for Birmingham at all, so it seemed more appropriate to have his playing position in the sentence about Sporting, but I'm not bothered, no doubt he will play in central midfield for them at some point. As to English, as I've said before, it's little things that are perfectly understandable but don't sound right to a native speaker: a footballer plays for a team, not with one, for instance.
As to WP standards, what we both have to remember is that the article belongs to Wikipedia and not to either of us. We're writing for people who may well not know that a Spanish second division club being promoted to the top flight means they play in La Liga next season: this section of the Manual of Style tells us to "make sure that the reader knows what to expect when clicking on a link". That's the only time La Liga is mentioned: if that link were hidden, it wouldn't appear in the article at all.
Also, some of us need to check that links actually go where they're supposed to: I changed Midfielder#Centre midfielder to Midfielder#Central midfielder, because I "knew" that's what it was called, but it is in fact called Centre midfielder, though heaven only knows why... I'll correct myself forthwith :-) cheers, Struway2 (talk) 10:13, 13 January 2010 (UTC)
Michu
Hola, Vasco.
--DataSport (talk) 14:42, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
You are wrong. "B" teams contract players, and the contract is different from the professional one of the first team. But go ahead and keep it wrong, I don't mind. --Banderas (talk) 21:49, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
- Maybe I didn't explain myself OK...I am sure you do not intend to edit wrongly, but it's wrong to mention that he signed in 2007 for the first team and was relegated to the B side. He signed for the B team and was promoted to first team that season, but didn't have a professional contract with the first team 'til the following season. But, anyhow, as it's really something not very relevant, I don't mind too much about it and, therefore, I find it OK if you prefer to leave it as it was. Sorry if I was too rude, but the Michu article was annoying me last week.--Banderas (talk) 19:00, 18 January 2010 (UTC)

Oi meu caro.

Hassan Yebda
Just to let you know there are a few things I disagree about in your recent edit to Hassan Yebda. As the player was born in France and plays international football for Algeria, his nationality is ambigious and so I feel it would be more apt to miss giving a nationality straight away and explaining later in the lead he was born in one country and plays internationally for another. Also, I don't think it's necessary for "Championnat de France amateur" to be italicized. Finally, the removal of the "National Football Teams" reference and moving it to the EL section leaves the "Born in Saint-Maurice, Val-de-Marne, Yebda..." sentence unsourced. Any discussion would be helpful. Cheers, Mattythewhite (talk) 22:26, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
Serbian Superliga
- É só por causa do nome (antes era First League of Serbia and Montenegro (2003-2006), First League of FR Yugoslavia(1992-2003) e Yugoslav First League(1923-1992). FkpCascais (talk) 16:27, 2 February 2010 (UTC)

Question about references and external links
Hello VascoAmaral. I appreciate the work you have done to improve footballer biographies, especially many stub articles that I started. However, I have noticed that you often remove the inline citations that I placed in the article if the citation is to something other than a newspaper or magazine article. One example is the Hugo Cunha article where I had made an inline citation to the Fora de Jogo webpage that provides a his football career profile. In my view, this webpage clearly supported the text and an inline citation seems appropriate. However, perhaps I don't understand the correct way to use inline citations. It's not a big issue, except that other editors often come along and think an article which is sourced only through external links is not referenced at all (and so they add a "BLP unsourced" tag to the article). Please let me know what you think and keep up the great work. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 18:57, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Response
Hi Vasco, this is your worst enemy, Bocanegra, writing, ;)
OK, Francisco Puñal. I changed 1,79 to 1,80 because of this (http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/spieler/7739/francisco-pu%C3%B1al/profil.html) source. But according to the official Osasuna website, he is 1,79. I apologise, and I will concentrate more on official sources in the future.
I would also like to thank you for the advices you gave me. I like making new infobox'es (don't know why ;)) and I begin using you techniques (if that's what you can call it). I'll try not to piss you off anymore... Are we cleared?

Hi again!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valmiro_Lopes_Rocha
You made some corrections to the last lines of the story, which is good, but Valdo was not being injured. He only made few appearances because his performances were so bad. He was not included to the squad as everybody thought he is not good enough. Now he is back in the squad, because there is so many injuries in the squad.

Etzo here again. This time about http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesc_Arnau, his retirement is not speculation. He announced his wish to retire after this season already in the past summer.

Problemas
Olá Vasco... Cara, novos problemas.
Helping Out
Makes sense to remove the youth team as like you said they already have their own article and about the name, I think it should be left as it always being where the names are mimic from the player's jersey. Lafuzion (talk) 14:00, 03 March 2010 (UTC)
- Sergio Busquets on his jersey is just Sergio while Yaya Touré is Touré Yaya. It makes sense to just follow what the jersey states on the FC Barcelona website. Even on their respective national teams they have those names. Lafuzion (talk) 21:07, 03 March 2010 (UTC)
Why is that page half English half Spanish? Tells to Nucular Warfare to stop /b/tarding with 4chan, please. He's a traitor.
