Asma al-Assad
Hi Nora, thanks for contributing, but could you please add a reference or source to your addition, as per Wikipolicy. Its important in order to maintain the quality of the article, especially when they are controversial. --SasiSasi (talk) 17:45, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
Hi Nora, thanks for adding the ref. I get the impression that many Syria related articles (especially politics related) are subject to frequent vandalism and controversy. Which makes adding references really important. Many Syria related articles have “cleanup tags” relating to lack of in-text situation, so in theory they all need some work (see top of Asma al-Assad article).
There is no standard format for in-text citations (you can link to the website, or write the source out in the footnote), so you can choose whatever is most appropriate. see WP:CITE/ES. I have been told by an administrator that the reference should at least include publisher and access date (but that was for a GA nominated article, I think generally, as long as you reference it somehow, your fine).
To be honest, I think all articles relating to the al-Assad family need some cleaning up (i.e. language, adding in text references, removing inappropriate or un-sourced material). Some time ago I did some formatting and a bit of a cleanup on a lot of them, and added an explanation of the Emergency Law situation to the Syria article. Also, the article Damascus Spring could do with some well researched extension. But then again, I am interested in politics so I naturally gravitate towards such articles. Happy editing. --SasiSasi (talk) 11:19, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Removing article tags
Hello Nora Abazed. I see that you've removed article tags, such as that for conflict of interest, from several articles to which you've been a primary contributor. It's apparent from your contributions that you have a close connection with both Transtek and Abdulsalam Haykal and have an interest in seeing each promoted on Wikipedia. Moreover, much of the early material you contributed on each could, in all probability, be known only to an individual in close proximity to the subjects. The Wikipedia community strongly discourages editors from contributing to articles when such a connection exists; such relationship makes it impossible to contribute with a neutral point of view. The Haykal piece remains is missing citations, has one failed reference check, and contains WP:LINKSPAM; the Transtek piece is improved since you deleted a lot of the content that read like a press release, but is still lacking citations. I've tagged each accordingly. By the way, my commentary here in no way reflects on the articles' subjects, each of which I think passes the requirement for notability. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about this or discuss it further with you; leave a note below and I'll see it. Regards, Jim Ward (talk·stalk) 20:01, 9 May 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you Jim. Does it look better now. I'm a journalist, and know Haykal and his work through interviews. I make contributions on Wikipedia under other names too. Thanks again. Nora abazed (talk) 07:58, 17 May 2009 (UTC)
- The article is improved, however the conflict of interest issue hasn't changed: one or more major contributors to the article is conflicted, as I've explained above, at User talk:Levanteditor, at Talk:Abdulsalam Haykal and at WP:COIN. You've now removed the {{COI}} tags on multiple occasions from this article and from Transtek without ever explaining why you've done so or arguing that the assignation of COI is wrong. Why?
- Oh, and seeing that you mentioned it: using material from an interview you've done with a subject for a Wikipedia article is original research and is prohibited by policy. Jim Ward (talk·stalk) 06:12, 24 May 2009 (UTC)
