Sorry, I wasn't even referring to you in particular, it was an impersonal "lecture". I frankly wasn't aware that this was being assessed elsewhere, and I take the liberty not to follow an issue over several pages; for instance, I usually comment on the problems as they show on T:TDYK, and almost never verify the hooks themselves - I just do not want to get involved in/responsible for that sort of activity, as it would drag me into a whirlwind. The entire DYK participation on my part is limited to that exclusive focus, takes up only a small part of my (content-focused) activity here, and centers on those periods when I have a DYK nom of my own running. I therefore do not usually comment on DYK issues anywhere else but on T:TDYK, and I don't intend to change this habit. Dahn (talk) 04:23, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

I thought I'd leave a quick note to apologise for leaving a slgihtly nasty message here following the dispute we had over the Don Martin AfD; please be more careful about reverting good-faith edits without discussing the edits with the user, however. In particular, remember that a sysop has additional privileges to use certain tools on wikipedia, but not additional power; conflicting edits should be resolved through discussion, not simply through blindly reverting an edit without looking at its contents since it was previously reverted by a sysop. I'm not going to be editing wikipedia (at least for a while), so I don't expect a reply; I'm unlikely to respond quickly to a reply anyway. Thanks. GiftigerWunsch [TALK] 16:03, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

DYK
Since the DYK special occasion area says that it has to be added at least 5 days before the special occasion, I asked if it would still be alright on Wikipedia talk:DYK. Joe Chill (talk) 19:58, 9 June 2010 (UTC)
- I removed it. It's not a 5x expansion. 20:01, 9 June 2010 (UTC)

Vayden Band Page Deletion
Hello Morenooso,
a few days ago, you deleted the Vayden wikipedia page I edited, and for reasons I completely agree with and now understand. Since then, I've put together a more proper wikipedia page for the band, yet it seems I cannot recreate it with the new content because "it's currently protected and can only be edited by administrators." The "deletion review" page recommends I first contact the administrator that had deleted the page, which is the purpose of this message. Here is the new content for the Vayden article I'm hoping is suitable for Wikipedia. Please let me know what step I should take next.

LOL! I may have to swing by and check that out. Got a Circle K near me at home, but there's a 7-11 not far from where I work. Turns out I deserved all the fish I could get; I deleted a legit article, it would seem. Good call. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 03:07, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Not to worry, O Fellow Kalifornian. I had to sign off. Just checking back in for a moment. Besides, I'm not crazy about needles. What makes you think I'd enjoy disembowling myself...? :) BTW, if you have a Trader Joe's near you, I highly recommend their California Roll. Now, if you really want good sushi and you find yourself in Beverly Hills, I highly recommend Sushi Roku over on La Cienega. My sister and brother-in-law treated my wife and I about a year ago. Best caterpillar roll you'll ever eat and something they have called "crab dynamite" is a must. Bring money, especially if you order a bottle of sake. Some folks I know rave about a sushi place in Yucca Valley, of all places. In the Travelodge, yet. Definitely on my short list of places to try in the desert. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 06:28, 10 June 2010 (UTC)
- I had these vision of John Belushi doing that SNL skit and thought, "What if I scared by his admission?" Could I live with myself? There are pretty good sushi places near where I live. In fact, there's this Sushi Buffet I like and a Trader Joes is available. BTW, I am partial to the seafood varieties. I wonder why? ----moreno oso (talk) 06:33, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

Archbishop Basil Schott
Roman Catholic Archbishop Basil Schott died today; he was bishop of the same Eastern Roman Catholic rite church as was Bishop Emil John Mihalik. I could start the article but if you want to start the article that would be fine also. I just got finished with 2 articles of 2 men were appointed Governor of Idaho Territory but in the end did not want the job. There were a total of seventeen men appointed Idaho Territory Governor-that must had been a hardship government post in 19th century United States. I hope you are doing well-Thank you-RFD (talk) 21:53, 10 June 2010 (UTC)

G11 nomination of European Music Council
Hey, Bear, I was about to decline the G11 as "not exclusively promotional" when I noted that you were the one who nom'ed it. I've seen your work around the hangon shop and respect it and, since I'm fairly new at hangon patrolling just wanted to make sure that there wasn't something that I'm missing. What is it about that article that makes it, in your opinion, "exclusively promotional"? I'm not throwing down the gauntlet or issuing a challenge or even asking that you reconsider, but only trying to see if there's something I'm not seeing so that I can learn. Best regards, TRANSPORTERMAN (TALK) 13:53, 11 June 2010 (UTC)
- It was created by a user with the same name.
- By creating this article, that editor has a WP:COI.
- Its only edits come to this article.
- Its links are back to the user's website and in essence self-published.
- The article does nothing encyclopedic and serves only to promote the website and its owner.
Additionally, you can read the G11 wikilink which describes unambigous advertising. It also falls under A7 for DB-Corp.----moreno oso (talk) 13:59, 11 June 2010 (UTC)

- That's okay. Even I make mistakes and have admins come by to see me. Since you said you've seen my work and respect it, I respect you for asking. And, it takes a big user to admit what you did. Still, there is room for an admin to see it another way. Should you decide to take over the article and rescue it by providing reliable sources and notability, it could stay. Just before I "went to bed", I got caught up in a situation with an editor creating neologisms. I PRODed the first and CSDed Pure Vandalism the second. The editor "bumped" the PROD and I sent it to AfD. I wonder how that turned out? ;) Listen buddy, me and my ex just broke up and if anything I'm going to beat the uh, err, ahh, - beat the system. Considering that I got a DYK credit for just adding a couple of citations to this article is almost amazing considering that its creator didn't like the effort and reverted them. I was going to expand the article but after the revert, decided it wasn't worth the effort. Too bad as the whole episode with "Dead dude walking" is pretty amazing stuff in the life of this bishop, the relationship he formed with its author and possibly how it shaped some of his views. ----moreno oso (talk) 12:24, 12 June 2010 (UTC)

Ah, so the bear wants fish, eh?
Whacking with a wet trout or trouting is a common practice on Wikipedia when experienced editors slip up and make a silly mistake. It, along with sentencing to the village stocks, is used to resolve one-off instances of seemingly silly behavior amongst normally constructive community members, as opposed to long term patterns of disruptive edits, which earn warnings and blocks.
Example
I just wuv the fact that I ticked off those widdle boys on my talk page. Why relist?
Hi, I am wondering what your rational is to relist this AFD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/India_Empire Off2riorob (talk) 02:14, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
- Sure. There's four ways to look at it:
- No consensus was indicated.
- The votes are even; even with the vote past what should have been the closure date.
- If the vote past the closure date was the only one, would it have been fair to close it as Delete? I don't think so and just one vote does not confer consensus.
- Relisting will give fresh/other editors a chance to develop said consensus. ----moreno oso (talk) 02:23, 13 June 2010 (UTC)
