Palestine/Palestinian Refugee Camps
I have been looking over your edits for the page, and wondered if it would be worth it to split the two types of camps into separate pages to avoid confusion between the camps established for the Jews in the 30s and those established after 1948 for the Arabs. As it stands now, the article is a bit confusing. Goalie1998 (talk) 08:58, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- This problem you are referring to also troubled me, and led me to edit the article. It stems from the use of the term "Palestinian" which only developed since 1964 with the rise of PLO and after the Palestine Arabs lost their 67 six-day-war. The UN Resolution 194 from 1948 speaks only of "Palestine refugees" , even the UNRWA page speaks of "Palestine refugee camps" - obviously to avoid incorrect racism in the term. So the only thing that would be confusing was if one had already accepted the modern media/PLO propaganda term "Palestinian refugee (camp)", and that it was an isolated unique event in time in need for a special label. But in reality it strikes a continuum. There were refugee camps in Palestine prior to 67 and even 48. As a matter of fakt, the only "Palestine refugees" left still called refugees are of 1 race: Arab (no Druze refugees any more, no Jewish refugees any more, no Bedouin refugees any more .. you see)! If one would split the article how to address the Palestine/Palestinian term confusion, if the sources (see UNRWA page) speak of Palestine not Palestinian? --Miraclexix (talk) 09:32, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- If only you knew how much I agree with you right now... Goalie1998 (talk) 13:16, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Goalie, seems to me you mostly do controling and reverts and vandal prevention. Do you have interest in changing the article or splitting it with the neccessary cross-references? Should we start by copying this discussion to the article's TP? Nice to have your input/viewpoint :) --Miraclexix (talk) 14:42, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Based on your comment, I'm not sure we will be able to split it. If the UNRWA refers to the current camps as "Palestine refugee camps" then we are sort of stuck (even though I personally believe UNRWA is inherently biased, anti-Israel, and perhaps anti-semitic...). We can start a discussion on the talk page, but I am not sure how far it would go given the UNRWA designation of the current camps. Goalie1998 (talk) 17:24, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
- Defenitely Biased, agreed, and feeding the problem out of self-interest! --Miraclexix (talk) 19:10, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
