Hi Materialscientist, I'm writing you here because I've seen this is the main wiki where you edit and because here you're an abusefilter, checkuser and sysop. |
|||
I think I've found a few proxies used recently by a single user who hides behind them to make similar unconstructive edits in different pages, and a few socks used to do the same kind of edits created recently. |
|||
If I write here the suspicious proxies IP ranges, will you be able to block them ([[en:Wikipedia:No Open Proxies|as they're forbidden on Wikipedia]]) and do the same with the socks created over such ranges ([[en:Wikipedia:Sock puppets|as they weren't created for reasons according to community standards]])? |
|||
Let me know, please, I'd like to be helpful to the project by reporting vandals in bad faith who use proxies and socks such as this one! |

Hello! I noticed you deleted the edit I made to the FTTH article on the Bolivia section. If you take a look at the content, it is verbatim copy of the information regarding the implementation of FTTH in Argentina. It even mentions Buenos Aires, and last time I checked, Buenos Aires wasn't in Bolivia!!!!. If that was done by mistake, please revert it to whatever changes were made. I am from Bolivia and the edit I made is valid and accurate!. Cheers

Hi. The article first states that Afghans in Pakistan are refugees, but then states that there are also a small number of students, diplomats and businesspeople who are not refugees. This is contradictory. I've changed it to state that Afghans in Pakistan primarily constitute refugees, but also include small numbers of students, diplomats, and businesspeople thus removing the contradiction. --110.93.236.75 (talk) 13:33, 29 October 2017 (UTC)

Opinion before an edit gets to 3R
Hi Materialscientist, if you find a moment, please take a look at an issue over linking a term to a list page rather that a page specifically about the term, here, discussion about it here and here and a note I left to the other editor here. If the other editor reverts again, I have no intension of pursuing the matter, as reverting to point to the list would be a case of WP:DWIP/ having the last word, so, an exercise in futility. Thanks for your time and any help. Regards, Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 10:10, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

Editing User talk:68.69.141.39 (section)
Neustadt, Ontario has long been referred to as one of Ontario's prettiest villages in Harrowsmith Magazine...and the Wikipedia article already refers to this and for years it was quoted correctly....THEN someone some time ago went onto the Wikipedia page and changed the word Prettiest to Sketchiest in an attempt to defame and insult our village (yes I am a Resident), so they are the ones responsible for changing the wording from a quoted source without a reference. I am merely trying to restore the page back to the way it should be quoted -the way the article was originally done. There is something wrong with Wikipedia if people can go on and make slanderous changes to articles and then people like you defend them from those of us who just want them to remain true and correct. Maybe you should go back to the quoted article and read it for yourself, so as to be sure what has been written is correct in the first place.
- (talk page stalker) I highly doubt that it was called the sketchiest place for having gothic revival architecture so I've changed it back. Galobtter (talk) 02:33, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

Changes to Eric Schaeffer
Hello,
I received a message that you removed all of my recent changes because I did not cite a reputable source or something to that effect? I am Eric Schaeffer. I made the changes to my own Wiki page. I am the source. I made the films and TV shows that I added as an update to my Wiki page. What do you need from me in order to replace the editing I did that you removed? Thank you, Eric Schaeffer
Help reviewing article?
Hi,
I'm Ed Sussman. I noticed you recently made some small edits to the MSNBC page. I wonder if you'd mind taking a look at my rewrite of the stub of MSNBC president Phil Griffin. It's now drafted as a fuller article here: Talk:Phil Griffin.
I'm a fairly experienced Wikipedia editor (not like you, though) and try to abide by the five pillars. Here I have a conflict of interest as a consultant to NBC News, so I need to have my proposed edits independently reviewed. If you can find the time, I'd be very appreciative.
Thanks,

Vandalism?
How is my commenting on the driving standard of parents of children who attend Lowther hall vandalism?
There's multiple photos providing evidence (which have been refrained from adding thus far) of their stupid behaviour on the roads so please define the use of the word vandalism as you politely put it? Also.. unconstructive???
Have you ever lived near or watched the driving behaviour of parents consistently flouting the road rules? A child may die soon and you want to call the edits vandalism/ unconstructive for speaking the truth?
Flip-u-too (talk) 13:35, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Have you tried calling the school? The police? Talking to the offending parents? Local authorities? The thing is, an encyclopeadia is not the place to report motoring law violations, why on earth did you think it was a good idea? -Roxy the dog. barcus 14:02, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
Given an encyclopedia is a book or set of books giving information on many subjects I feel this is just as topical as the schools history, or their construction works, or the house thats on the property, or how their classes are graded... they're all topical subjects directly relating to the school, how are they not? I didn't report motor violations, I gave examples of inappropriate driving behaviour consistent with the schools demographic.
Before you coment do you actually have anything to do with the school? Do you know what the roads are like? Do you not think the police have better things to resolve? I have tried the council and they are making it harder than necessary and turn the other way.. connections maybe? Parents become aggressive and the school is polite however they can't/ wont control what happens outside their gates.
They're very broad suggestions you make so I'm leaning towards you not actually knowing about the issue itself.. just my thoughts as to why on earth it's a good idea xx
- No worries. I promise that unless you find independent reliable sources WP:RS to support what you want to write, it wont go in this encyclopeadia. -Roxy the dog. barcus 23:13, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Dear Flip-u-too I'm sorry but you are absolutely barking up the wrong tree here in the clearest way imaginable. This is not a social campaigning site or a blog or Facebook or local news or anything else that can help you with this. Whilst we might as individuals care about your road safety concern, as an encyclopaedia we really don't care at all - your suggested content is so wildly unencyclopaedic that it just will not receive a moment's consideration, because it does not deserve it. People who turn up here to campaign on issues almost never do well - if they can't understand what we are doing here, they will either give up and go away or get blocked quite soon, because their crusade is so badly at odds with our purpose. You might want to read WP:GREATWRONGS which tries to explain this. But whatever happens, your content is not going to go in without reliable sources to support it AND a consensus from other editors that it is notable, worthwhile content. Sorry, but you are simply in the wrong place for what you are currently attempting. Wikipedia is not your platform. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 00:09, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
Back and vandalizing again
Materialscientist, you blocked IP 73.169.135.60 for 61 days back in September for serial vandalizing: a specialty seems to be falsifying dates and other information in articles. I just gave them a final warning, not realizing that this was a habit with them; further checking shows this edit changing the dates of the 2010 Winter Olympics to be 2014 dates.
I'm leaving the evidence up for most of these, though I've changed back one of the Strictly Come Dancing articles and I'm about to revert on the other unless someone beats me to it. Thanks for anything you can do, hopefully by making the block significantly longer than two months this time. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:37, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- I forgot you weren't around at this time of day, so I've reported the IP to WP:AN/V, since the vandalism is continuing despite the new talk-page warnings, and a lot of damage could be done in the next several hours before you typically return. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:50, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
- Not a problem, Galobtter. Thanks for reporting it. Glad this IP is gone for six months this time. BlueMoonset (talk) 18:53, 12 November 2017 (UTC)
Blocked user
Hi! I noticed that you had blocked Miakalo as violating editing guidelines, however this is a new user and I didn't see where they'd edited previously. They're also a student in an online class with Tulane University and Wiki Education and as far as I can tell, this is the first time the student has ever done anything with Wikipedia. The only thing I can figure is that they may be on an IP that has had some people vandalizing on it. If that's the case then it's most likely a university IP.
Can you unblock the student? They need the account for class and given the situation I'm hesitant to suggest that they get a new account. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:40, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
Reversed Edit
It would help a lot if you would say what article you reversed my edit in - I have edited numerous articles and have no way of knowing which one you are referring to in your message to me. ~ Lib2003 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lib2003 (talk • contribs) (signatures need to have link to the user page)
- (talk page stalker) - Lib2003 can I help out a little here? 1. Not that numerous. Your account currently has 20 edits. When you started this conversation, it had 17. Looking through them one by one would not be that hard. 2. Fortunately, you don't even need to do that. Did you see the time and date on MS's message to you? 12:12, 2 September 2016. If we then look again at your edits we see very quickly that it can only possibly have been one edit - this one. And here is MS reverting you, then here are you, a year ago, querying the same edit on this very page. 3. I hope this helps. It didn't take me long to do, and I would respectfully suggest that your edit history - just click "Contributions" is a very useful tool here. Best wishes DBaK (talk) 07:52, 15 November 2017 (UTC)

Deletion of a page Alex Zhavoronkov
Dear Materialscientist, can you please take a look at Alex Zhavoronkov nominated for deletion if you have a minute? The author was the first to publish the application of the generative adversarial networks for generation of new molecular structures in Mol. Pharm. Unfortunately, these papers did not have the time to be highly cited. But there is over 100 papers in other areas.
Equilibrium constant
There is trouble brewing at equilibrium constant (also the last two entries on its talk page). User:Alsosaid1987 claims that I have made some fundamental errors. Actually, it is Alsosaid who is making the fundamental errors. A thermodynamic equilibrium constant must be dimensionless because of its logarithmic relationship with Gibbs free energy. He does not appear to appreciate this fact. I wish to avoid a prolonged controversy. Can you suggest a way out of this dilemma? Petergans (talk) 11:30, 30 November 2017 (UTC)
I quote page 58 of the IUPAC Green Book, which states that K_c has units of "(mol m^{-3})^{\Sigma \nu_B}", where \nu are the signed stoichiometries of the balanced equation (negative for starting materials and positive for products). Petergans is mischaracterizing what I'm saying. The *thermodynamic* equilibrium constant is a unitless quantity, and that needs to be true because \Delta G^\circ = -RT \ln K. However, the *concentration* equilibrium constant is not the same beast. There are numerous other fundamental (as well as notational) errors and misconceptions that Petergans has produced on the equilibrium constant page. I can only caution my students to take what is written there with a grain of salt!Alsosaid1987 (talk) 16:45, 30 November 2017 (UTC)

Mouvement Montréal
Hi Materialscientist, I'm fairly new to editing wikipedia, but a long-time follower. I edited "mouvement montreal" because, by law (municipal elections and referendums law ; art. 399.1), it doesn't pertain to équipe Coderre pour Montreal [1]. I do understand that fact-checking is important, I understand how such a huge edit would raise a flag, but "mouvement montreal" (reserved denominaion) is not the same group as équipe Coderre pour Montréal

Concering my Edit in Martinair.
You're right. I don't have a credible source, but my own ears. I saw the very last Martinair DC-11 make a fly-by during the exhibition days of Leeuwarden Air base in the summer of 2016. The commentator in the air control tower who was moderating the fly-by and explaining what was happening was the one who told 250.000 people the very information I edited into the article. And indeed, in good faith. A few weeks thereafter the aircraft was ferried to Arizona and dismantled.

Hey Material. Can you maybe if you are not too busy keep an eye on this H. David Kotz article?
It looks as though a coi person you reverted awhile ago .. DebKotz .. who also used another sock name to make the same deletions .. Category:Wikipedia sockpuppets of Debkotz .. may be back under a third different user name. You reverted a large deletion of material DebKotz wanted to hide about this Kotz but now (a year ago) this different editor with their first edit ever made the same large deletion that DebKotz and her sock each made.
It looks like nobody is watching the article for this.

I have just posted to Shubinator's page to let him know the bots are down, but I don't know how soon he'll see it; right now we're about 3.75 hours late on the scheduled update (we're up to two sets a day at the moment). Many thanks for anything you can do. BlueMoonset (talk) 03:45, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- I'm happy to report that Vanamonde did a manual update. If you happen to be online around 16:13 today, please see whether the bots are back; if not, we'll be needing another manual update. BlueMoonset (talk) 05:07, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
- And I'm even happier to report that Shubinator has restarted both bots. Automatic updates should be happening again, barring some bizarre repeat of today's downtime. Sorry to have bothered you. BlueMoonset (talk) 07:35, 17 January 2018 (UTC)

monroe middle school page
Hello, I'm new to this whole Wikipedia thing and I'm not sure how to get the things I edited back up so I can add where I got my information from if you could be kind enough to help me that would be great. I also didn't think I would need to cite anything because as my user name states I am a Monroe middle school student and am currently going there now, so I would know that that information is wrong unless you are attending this school and think this information is wrong please help me get it put back up. I am not willing to retype it and I didn't state how many students are going there and what I did state you can find out by simply walking in the building and asking people. If you don't put it back up I will just let everyone know that nobody cares about a simple group of students trying to keep a page that looks like it was last updated in 2007 up to date. I hope you have a nice rest of your day. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Monroemiddlestudent (talk • contribs) 14:29, 18 January 2018 (UTC)

Remove restriction for educational purposes?
Dear Materialscientist, I teach journalism classes, and one of the assignments I make every spring is to require students to create Wikipedia accounts and become contributors. Their Wikipedia work is graded by me.
Today, I found that "account creation from this IP address has been temporarily restricted." I do understand that college students may have been vandals in the past, but the nine students in my class are losing the opportunity to learn how to integrate and source factual material in the Wikipedia community.
Can Susquehanna University be removed from the school block, please? Anassakata80 (talk) 18:37, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
- @Anassakata80: I saw your request, and noticed Materialscientist has been offline for several hours, so am providing a quick reply. If account creation is disabled and students are unable to create an account elsewhere, they can request one by filling out this form. They can first check on this list that the username they choose has not already been taken. If editing is required for class projects, you as the instructor or the network administrator can contact the Unblock Ticket Request System (with reference to the specific IP address) - if using this option, be sure to provide a contact email address that is listed on your school's website. --- Barek (talk • contribs) - 19:00, 24 January 2018 (UTC)
Francis and the Lights
I saw that you removed the citation for the new album, saying it wasn't a reliable source. However, I've seen Vehlinggo cited by major publications -- I believe it was a major Drive feature the website did. I noticed that Justin Vernon of Bon Iver also tweeted about it. The site is pretty well known in major scenes of the music industry as a trustworthy, reliable source of info. Kinda saddened to see it deemed otherwise. I'd like to please return the reference.

"contributions to Islamic terrorism"
Hi,
I received a notification from you, saying "I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Islamic terrorism have been undone because they did not appear constructive."
The "user contributions" page for user 31.154.81.29 shows four different contributions, including the one you're referring to here.
I have certainly made NONE of these recommendations. If this IP address was shared, at some point, with someone else, I am not aware of it.
While I do use Wikipedia often, I have not modified any pages for many years. If I recall correctly, I may have done so many years ago, in order to fix typographical errors - not change content in any significant manner.
Thanks for reading.

I noticed that you indefinitely blocked 168.18.160.134 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) back in late 2015. Based off their minimal edit history and your block template], I think it was a slip of the finger. Please liberate Candy from overzealous protection
Please remove protection from the Candy article. Reason: The registered editors are not coping. The lead is incorrect:
- grammatically (confusing singular candy with plural sweets in one breath),
- factually (for example the lead's flawed definition for "candy" would include marmalade, jam and ice-cream), as well as
- semantically (equating candy with an individual item of confection but also with a class of items called confectionery).
These problems can be fixed only by inclusive involvement of all Wikipedians, by respectful discussion, and by dangling the sword of edit-warring over the heads of lethargic administrators. 86.158.154.74 (talk) 16:08, 4 February 2018 (UTC)
- I am not an administrator, so I cannot remove protection from articles. Please ask the protecting administrator Materialscientist. If the protecting administrator is unwilling to remove protection, then list a request on Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#Current requests for reduction in protection level. If you want to make a specific edit to the article, you can make a request on Talk:Candy and add Template:Edit semi-protected. Gulumeemee (talk) 00:02, 5 February 2018 (UTC)

in re: Sodium Erythorbate
This is not me -- this IP and its subnet are dynamically assigned by one of the largest ISPs in North America.
I did learn a couple of new things trying to chase down what exactly was causing this message about a new message about something . . . about chemistry, and about the fact that a lot of established Wikipedia folks are in the drawbridge crowd for some reason and really try to make things difficult for new writers, which is why I now know never to do so and write to the admin if I see something which needs to be changed. Mission accomplished, collateral and unintended as it may have been . . . this is vandalism, that is not constructive, the other is talk page stalking -- anything heavy which can be used as a weapon, eh?
Plus, and I admit I could be mistaken, not being a Wikipedia sea lawyer and all that, and in that case apologise in advance, it looks like your note to whomever it was, concerning the edit about the pharmacological activity of the food additive being unreferenced, is a bit of a fib. I saw angle brackets and a reference and everything.

Edit to Genevieve Jeanson page
Good Day,
In response to your message to me on this topic; my understanding was / is that the edits I made to Genevieve's page do not require citations by Wikipedia rules as they are drawn from first hand accounts I have obtained and confirmed from her (as her current common law husband). I was distressed by the number of easily verifiable pieces of misinformation on her page and merely wish to correct the facts that many people close to us refer to regularly as "clearly erroneous" when citing her Wikipedia page in conversation to us. You can only hear someone say "I didn't know you were born in Lachine!?" so many times before it drives you nuts lol.
-She was not born in Lachine. She was born in Saint Hyacinthe, QC, lived several years in Saint Hilaire as a child and then settled in Lachine, QC at the age of 6 for the first time.
-She has never been an "assistant cook" at any point in time. She was a part-time Dishwasher at a Retirement Home here in Montreal while completing her Collegial studies when she first returned to Montreal, and has worked as a Server in several Restaurants over the years (including her own diner in Phoenix following her racing career).
-The sequence and dates of her studies and living arrangements since her return to Montreal were jumbled and erroneous, so I corrected them using first hand information from Genevieve herself. None of these corrections were related to opinions or subjectivity so I'm at a loss to understand why they were blocked / edited. I don't think you're suggesting that simply updating the page to reflect that "she currently lives in Montreal with her common law husband and works in the Fitness Industry" requires a 3rd party citation (if so, how?) This is first hand information.
I'd look forward to cooperating with any and all corrections to her page with your guidance and assistance. My goal is to simply correct and update simple information, not re-write history or events without cause or foundation. That said, the most recent podcast done in 2017 renders a far more inclusive rendition of her ordeal than previously revealed or cited and should be part of her wikipedia page in my opinion: https://cyclingtips.com/2017/02/cyclingtips-podcast-episode-24-genevieve-jeanson-on-making-peace-with-a-tainted-past/

Concerning the reverted change on Shanghai High School
I do respect your demand that edits should be constructive, but I don't think that's the reason for my edit to be reverted.
Concerning the reverted changes on links: http://www.shs.sh.cn/closetoSHS-1.htm This is the link pointed by Ref 3, 4, and 5. As far as I'm concerned, this site is unavailable and cannot be reached. (The notice on the website, "你访问的地址有误。", means "the address you visit is incorrect".)
Concerning the reverted change on the pronunciation: My teacher confirms that "百“ can be pronounced as bǎi or bó, and I edited it because it was written differently in the Infobox and the chapter "Location and Campuses". This edit is for unity and prevention of confusion.
I sincerely hope my opinion can be considered and I hope to get a reply soon. Thank you.

I'm nearly certain that his paper appeared in the Chicago Linguistic Society proceedings about 1970.
I don't understand your assertion that my edit would impede Armenian/PIE research and its exclusion would promote it. Hamp's paper laid out valid means by which some Armenian words could be related to PIE. MORE comparison and research is expected by the inclusion of his work on Armenian/PIE to 'flesh-out' the sub-stratum,neighboring and transient languages in that region.01:57, 12 March 2018 (UTC)01:57, 12 March 2018 (UTC)01:57, 12 March 2018 (UTC)~

Please Help
I am officially asking for help from the wikipedia community. An Editor (who has twice flagged my home page as an attack page, so I will not name him here. Seems to be camping my edits (even on TALK PAGES for God's sake!!!) and reverting or criticizing them with very little to go on, other than (apparently) a distate of me garnered from a mistake I made years ago trying to delete a wikipedia category. He also holds cleear and apparently inviolable personal opinions on metallurgy and related matters. For the past year or more I have actually stayed clear of him and his "favorite, personally owned" feifdom pages and subjects. Recently he has decided to just offer snide remarks:
I have attempted to make personal contact through his home page, and he mostly just deletes it. He's even reverted changes I've put in my own home page because he considered them "attacks"! I would like it if someone in authority could please get him to back off. Any help out there?
I am completely willing to plead my case, and I'm open to any arbitration I can get. Let me know what to do - I'll do it!

Can you PLEASE assist me re a reversion you made?
In reference to this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Todd_J._Rathner
I am the subject of this page, I changed the "Employer". It had the "National Rifle Association" as my employer, but I am not employed by them, I am a member of the NRA's national volunteer board of directors but not an employee. I am employed by the lobbying firm "Rathner and Associates" of which I am CEO. Can you tell me how to correct that on the page without it being reverted? It is technically inaccurate to call me an "employee" of the NRA. - Todd Rathner

Mehdi Bazargan page edits
Hello Materialscientist,
I recently removed sections of the Mehdi Bazargan page without providing any supporting description. I have removed the sections again and provided adequate reason this time around. Honestly it looks very much like page vandalism, I checked hunted down the cited sources and found that one of the removed portions was either rather grossly misconstrued or misrepresented and the second portion was not only 100% unmentioned in the cited source but included assertions that are clearly false, pedophilia's acceptance in Islam may be questionably debatable but I am certain that homosexuality has been expressly forbidden in both the Quran and in sharia law since the formation of Islam. the final sentence of the section was also known political slander from 1978 out of a character assassination article of Ayatollah Khomeini (who this page isn't even about) published by the Iranian state-run news outlet as he lead a rebellion in that nation. Honestly the edits of the IP 96.241.84.22 made on the 1st of May have every indication of being page vandalism. This is my first edit on Wikipedia but I'm quite certain that I'm not mistaken about this information. I don't know for sure the validity of his other edits but a quick look through shows that the aforementioned IP has an issue with adding unsupported edits to pages of Iranian revolution leaders that generally seem false at a glace. I am far too inexperienced in Wikipedia to what else to do besides simply deleting the strange things he's putting out there. I'm a history major at university so I feel a modicum of confidence in judging the historical edits, however his edits on jet fighter specifications could very well be 100% legitimate as far as I know. But with that pattern of strange occasionally inflammatory edits to these historical figures pages I advocate for blocking that IP at least from those pages, if that's possible, I'm not really sure how all this works.
Thanks!

Cthtului
Why have you reverted my edits to Cthulhu, and left a message on my talk page stating "I noticed that you removed some content from Cthulhu without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. " ?
every edit I made had a 100% clear explanation of why the changes were made
- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cthulhu&oldid=840028483
- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cthulhu&oldid=840028333
- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cthulhu&oldid=840027732
- https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Cthulhu&oldid=840027517
The edits also match the guidlines given in comments in the article itself - quote This section is for significant cultural depictions of the Cthulhu character. If it's a minor namecheck or a wider mythos reference, put it in Cthulhu Mythos in popular culture instead.
You even re-added content about works by a different author into the publication history.
ie this :
- In John Glasby's "A Shadow from the Aeons", Cthulhu is seen by the narrator roaming the riverbank near Dominic Waldron's castle, and roaring.[citation needed] The physical description of the god is totally different from that given as canon by all the other authors.[citation needed]
The article is about works by the author Lovecraft.
You clearly
- did not read or check the edits
- did not read the edit summary
- did not check if the content you re-added was appropiate
I suggest you correct the mistakes you have made.
You can also consider this post a complaint - what an absolute waste of time you have made for me., 5.198.10.236 (talk)

Hi Material Scientist
There are increasing issues of vandalism on this semi-protected page Christopher Minko ... especially deletions of referenced edits. Warnings have been given to The Schattenjäger by you and myself but the issue is potentially getting out of control (and also beyond my competence to deal with it). Advice or intervention appreciated. Many thanks ! Dentbottle (talk) 01:46, 15 May 2018 (UTC)
later: no need to reply....I've been advised by another admin that it's no vandalism but edit warring.

- A metal has a band structure with at least one band that is not completely empty or not completely full. Also, don't count one that have a band that is a tiny bit empty or a tiny but full, like graphite. Gah4 (talk) 06:53, 15 May 2018 (UTC)

Hi Materialscientist,
Thanks for your message with regard to reverting the 'Centre for Nanoscience and Quantum Information' page edits I made. I am actually the administrator for the centre and was updating the (very) out of date content. The lab manager who used to update the wikipedia entry for NSQI has now left so I am responsible for looking after it.
Please let me know what I need to do to verify this and I will happily do so.
Here's my entry on the university website if it's of any use as verification. My login for wikipedia is the university email as featured on my contact details at the link below: http://www.bristol.ac.uk/physics/people/alex-martin/index.html

(just dropping this on you because you are the last admin to post on their talk page, although a long way back; didn't want to spin up ANI)
107.215.53.37 has been racking up a good number of final warnings re unsourced/made-up/nonsensical material in the distant and recent past, the last two today [3][4] after being warned again yesterday[5]. As far as I can see, just about everything they ever did had to be reverted. I suggest a block might be in order now? Cheers --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 11:33, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

I reverted the change you made because the date attributed to the image was two decades too late for the section in which the image was added. But (i) it's a much better image than the one I put there (and have restored) and (ii) I don't think I believe the date on the Commons page as the picture looks to me much more like 1870s than 1890s, and if so I'd be v. glad to see it back again. If you have any thoughts on this I'd be glad to discuss. Tim riley talk 18:45, 25 May 2018 (UTC)
- Sorry, I reverted you before reading this. Both new images are of much better quality, and both fit better to the text around it. Agree, the dates of both "young" images are uncertain; new one is younger, maybe young enough for the text around it. Unfortunately only publication date is known for both images. Regards. Questions at talk:photon

Help?
Hi. Can you perhaps help? I noticed that you edited an article that is the article in question, and that you are an admin. One (or more) editors keep on deleting the same footnoted information, in pretty much the same way more or less. Most recently with a just-created editor who is doing nothing else. I wrote him on his talk page. He didn't respond. Just went right back to the deletions. See my attempt to write to him, with links to both his recent deletions, here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Rmpes
To me, this looks like bad faith. I mean, this (most recent?) account was created to do just this. And left misleading edit summaries. Hiding what he was doing. And then - no edit summary. Just deletions of text and footnotes. Even after I left him the first message.
Last month an IP deleted the same text and footnotes. Editor User:EMH333 fixed it. See here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eli_Dershwitz&diff=835173094&oldid=835172893
And before that the IP deleted the same text and footnotes. Editor User:Shellwood fixed it. See here. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eli_Dershwitz&diff=next&oldid=835172402
And before that in August 2017 User:Pesd was created to do one and only thing -- a small version of the same thing. Not other edits. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Pesd
Im wondering whether these are all one editor, creating new accounts and using an IP, just to mess with this article (they do nothing else). But one way or another, this doesnt look like a normal edit dispute. Can you do anything about it?
Thanks.--2604:2000:E010:1100:91B6:15E1:BB7C:A231 (talk) 03:49, 27 May 2018 (UTC)
- Another attack by an IP here ... https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Eli_Dershwitz&diff=next&oldid=844218167 ... though this one has been fixed again by helpful editor Shellwood. Recent Message
You sent me a message stating that you had reverted a recent edit I had made (you didn't mention where I had done this). The fact is, however, I have made a grand total of one edit in Wikipedia, and that was for a spelling mistake......and I think it was like eight years ago! This is the second time I have received messages from Wikipedia that had no correspondence with anything I had actually done.

Stratovolcano page temperature error
Being an infrequent contributor I don't know the protocol for this, but you are listed in the Talk. It seems that you are the one who locked edits to Stratovolcanos, so...
In the section "Effects on climate and atmosphere", twice a global temperature increase is quoted. It is quoted in degrees Celsius and converted for reference to degrees Fahrenheit. The conversion is wrong. It is correct for the conversion of absolute temperature, but wrong for a temperature delta. The formula used was degC * 9/5 + 32 = degF. The correct formula in this case is degC delta * 9/5 = degF delta. Therefore: 0.5 °C (32.9 °F) should read 0.5 °C (0.9 °F); and 3.5 °C (38.3 °F) should read 3.5 °C (6.3 °F). Can you archive your talk?
@Materialscientist: Hi Materialscientist, I'm writing you here because I've seen this is the main wiki where you edit and because here you're an abusefilter, checkuser and sysop. I think I've found a few proxies used recently by a single user who hides behind them to make similar unconstructive edits in different pages, and a few socks used to do the same kind of edits created recently. If I write here the suspicious proxies IP ranges, will you be able to block them (as they're forbidden on Wikipedia) and do the same with the socks created over such ranges (as they weren't created for reasons according to community standards)? Let me know, please, I'd like to be helpful to the project by reporting vandals in bad faith who use proxies and socks such as this one! Kbtudios1210 (talk) 22:45, 29 June 2018 (UTC)
