Reference check
If you've got time could you take a look at the references for Final Fantasy XIII and post a report on the talk page? It used to be littered with a lot of unreliable sources but I think I've cleaned them all up. Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 16:37, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Actually could you post them on the article's Peer Review? Thanks! Gary King (talk) 16:38, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Okay thanks; please watch the PR page, I will respond there. Gary King (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- On a general note, if you're up for it, you could also take over some of what Ealdgyth does at WP:FLC. She also checks references there and it'd be helpful if you could cover some of that, too, especially since a lot of lists have much less references than FACs so it shouldn't take as long :) Gary King (talk) 21:09, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Okay thanks; please watch the PR page, I will respond there. Gary King (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
- Reference check on List of Adobe Systems mergers and acquisitions please if you have the time. Most of the references are to financial reports released by Thomson Financial; the rest are mostly newspapers and magazines. Gary King (talk) 00:17, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Okay thanks; I wanted to get that out of the way since I'd be submitting it to the contest. Also, Macworld is Macworld; it's a magazine; it's definitely reliable. Gary King (talk) 00:26, 12 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hey, when you get a chance, reference check on Half-Life 2: Episode One at Wikipedia:Peer review/Half-Life 2: Episode One/archive1? :) Thanks in advance! Gary King (talk) 20:48, 14 October 2008 (UTC)

I'd like to take a minute to let you know that I appreciate your support in my recently-closed RfA, which passed with a count of 56 in support, 7 in opposition, and 2 neutrals. I'll certainly try to justify your faith by using the tools wisely. Happy editing, and thanks again! Xymmax So let it be written So let it be done 23:34, 14 October 2008 (UTC)
Prot Solar Energy
Thanks for semi-prot Solar Energy, gives us a little breather. --Skyemoor (talk) 01:07, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
(ec)Solar energy is edited by quite a few IP users, and is watched by quite a few others. I know my stomach for vandalism is greater than most, but I wouldn't complain if it got anything less than 50 vandalisms a day. The seven or eight we have had do not in my opinion necessitate protection. I would suggest reducing the duration of the protection, or removing it. Apteva (talk) 01:17, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Google Translate wrong most of the time?
Oh really? ~one of many editorofthewikis (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 19:49, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- Like when? It's awkardly worded, and I would never consider copying and pasting it directly, but it never seems to be wrong at all, or very rarely. ~one of many editorofthewikis (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 20:00, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- I have a confession to make. A large amount of this article was copied diredctly from Leon M'ba and 1964 Gabon coup d'etat. I added additional facts, and being that I am cowrote both those articles, I see no copyright issues here. The other author, User:Nishkid64, did not mind, and did indeed receive professional help on IRC. ~one of many editorofthewikis (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 20:12, 15 October 2008 (UTC)
- That was one mistake. French can be translated in several ways, and this one was a bit off. In addition, that was a quotation, and considering no English reporters recoreded that, we had to rely on the origan French wording. There was no problem with the "text" in that. ~one of many editorofthewikis (talk/contribs/editor review)~ 20:26, 15 October 2008 (UTC)

Stalker
You are a stalker! Gary King (talk) 18:05, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi stalker
Aren't you loved. :)
By the way, could you do me a favor? Please move Taiwanese to Taiwanese Hokkien (over the redirect there), and move Taiwanese (disambiguation) to Taiwanese.
I'm in the process of cleaning up the country adjectival (American, Cuban, Chinese, Iranian, etc. etc.) disambiguation pages, and Taiwanese sticks out like a sore thumb. When I'm done with Taiwanese, it'll be clear what's what, and it will match the weights given for the various contexts of the word as presented in the definitions of the main dictionaries out there, in accordance with WP:DISAMBIG.
The Transhumanist 19:20, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Nah, if someone doesn't like the solution, they can have it undone. There are two reasons to fix it this way: 1) it follows WP:DISAMBIG more closely than the current solution (since the Taiwanese dialect is not the main the use for the word "Taiwanese" - that usually means something from Taiwan, or a person from Taiwan), and 2) it'll match most of the other country adjectival disambigs (check my recent contribs to see how I've been cleaning these up). The Transhumanist 19:36, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Done - see Taiwanese. The Transhumanist 20:14, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
nice little side benefit
Now the treatment of the word on Wikipedia matches its Wiktionary counterpart.
The Transhumanist 20:25, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. Found a few more adjustments. I think it's done now. The Transhumanist 20:30, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

I appreciate your efforts to help fix up the NY State Symbols article. However, it is a list of symbols, not about the state of New York. Also, you just copied and pasted from the New York State article. Also, by adding Hurricanes you are promoting your own WikiProject (WP:Cyclones). Your edits had no reason. Please add to the article according tho the actual topic Juthani1 tcs 20:12, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Not advertising, but hurrianes have nothng to do with state symbols. I will add a short description. Juthani1 tcs 20:20, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- That's why there is a list of New York related subjects in the "See Also" section. This list includes all ubjects including hurricanes. Juthani1 tcs 20:25, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- If you really have the desire to add them, than do so. However, look at the very bottom of the page. There are template with these links already. These template serve the same purpose Juthani1 tcs 20:31, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for your help. And because you are an admin I am lucky to have your help
Noel
I'll bring it up on the talk page and then look at which sentence to cut. Usually, the sub-article has the details and the section in the main article is a summary (doesn't have completely different information).
It shouldn't have any effect on the FAC. In fact, I'll review the sub-article later with the intent on supporting it for FAC (or making helpful suggestions). Chergles (talk) 21:16, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- First draft is done. Consider for the Effects in the US article writing each section the same way. The most important information is the wind speed. So every section should have that as the first or second sentence. Otherwise, the reader has to hunt for the information. Power outages are commonly reported. Maybe put that in a uniform way.
One possibility is to have a chart of locations and windspeeds.
Chergles (talk) 21:35, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Hi, look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Joseph_Wurzelbacher#New_break particularly the comment "Delete This is adequately covered in the article about the election." If this logic is used, then your FAC could be subject to an AFD. On the other hand, if you rightly feel that coverage elsewhere doesn't result in deletion, then the above AFD might be ripe for your comments. I'm bringing this up solely for a better understanding of subarticles (AFD or not), not canvassing, as I have little feeling on Joe the Plumber. Chergles (talk) 21:48, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
My FA nomination of Hurricane Kate (2003)
I have a second tab going on my computer; I am using the second tab to complete the nomination process. I'll let you know when the process is complete; at that point, you may review the nomination. Dylan620 (talk) 22:53, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
Okay, the nomination process is done. Dylan620 Life story 23:01 UTC October 16, 2008

Saw your comment. Apparently you haven't been reading the keeps. You see it seems that deleting the article violates WP:CRYSTAL because we don't know that he won't continue to become more notable. And yes that's an argument that's been made.--Cube lurker (talk) 23:08, 16 October 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, web based communication can't transmit tone of voice. That was meant to be read dripping with sarcasm. I'm on record as a clear WP:1E Delete. Some of these keeps are just making me irritated.--Cube lurker (talk) 23:14, 16 October 2008 (UTC)

Hi Julian! I am working on a GA review of Tropical cyclone basins. I've done a review of the prose and references, but I was wondering if you could take a quick look at the content. I'm not a TC guru, and so I want to make sure that there is nothing big that is missing from the article. If you could drop be the GA review (located at Talk:Tropical cyclone basins/GA1), your input would be much appreciated. Thank you! Dana boomer (talk) 15:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you very much for the quick response! I apologize for not signing my previous post - I just realized I hadn't done so. Dana boomer (talk) 15:43, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Going to be gone...
From the 19th through the 26th. Can you pick up the slack at FLC? I can handle FAC at a reasonable level while I travel, it's just FLC that causes issues. Ealdgyth - Talk 14:35, 17 October 2008 (UTC)
Move request
Please move Germans to German people, over the redirect there.
I'm about to write a disambiguation page for Germans, and _____ people appears to be the best standard plural demonym, since it fits all demonymic grammatical forms (ans, ians, ish, ois, ese, is, s, and even the unique ones like "French", "Dutch", etc.). So "Fijians" becomes Fijian people, which matches Japanese people, Irish people, French people, etc.
Thank you.
