== Frank Graves Article == |
|||
Jiffles1, |
|||
I noticed you edited down some additions I made to the Frank Graves (pollster) page. I appreciate your clarifications on the language and structure. But I worry you also selectively removed critical, unflattering, but well-sourced facts about Mr Graves' past conduct. I hope that is not for the sake of advocacy and promotion. |
|||
I note that your first articles created back in 2009 were to create the pages for Mr. Graves and his company, Ekos Research Associates. You have been routinely editing these pages over the intervening years and adding content that it seems only a close relationship or colleague would be aware of. As per WP:COI, directly editing a page to which you hold a personal/financial interest or have an external relationship to is strongly discouraged. However a conflicted party can still propose edits in the talk page which they would like other editors to consider making (see WP:COIEDIT). |
|||
I assume good faith so I am happy to discuss the facts with you if you like. |

Be well. Balancingakt (talk) 11:09, 25 July 2023 (UTC) |

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. 2010–2017 Toronto serial homicides
Thanks for your updates to the article. I rewrote and expanded it several months ago, and have more-or-less been curating it since then. However, I am a dial-up user and struggling somewhat with the recent attention to the sizeable article. I would like to promote it at Wikipedia:In the news when I can get some sources and sufficiently update the article body. One note:
- We may need a better source for
McArthur is the most-prolific known serial killer in Toronto.
as the source was originally hypothesizing on it and is several months out of date (it does not rule out that there has been another more prolific serial killer since then).
Thanks again, and please ping me and let me know if you're going to continue working on the article. Edit conflicts are a major headache for me. – Reidgreg (talk) 17:46, 29 January 2019 (UTC)
Capitalization
Please familiarize yourself with MOS:INSTITUTIONS. We capitalize a word like "legislature" if it's appearing in the full proper name of a specific legislature — that is, you do capitalize it if you're actually writing "the Legislature of Ontario" — but not if you're just writing "the legislature" as a generic shorthand for a specific legislature. See links like this and this for examples — we follow standard writing style here, not corporate writing style with its constant overcapitalizations. Bearcat (talk) 02:35, 8 October 2019 (UTC)
WikiProject Canada 10,000 Challenge third anniversary
The 10,000 Challenge of WikiProject Canada is approaching its third-anniversary. Please consider submitting any Canada-related articles you have created or improved since November 2016. Please try to ensure that all entries are sourced with formatted citations and have no unsourced claims.
You may use the above button to submit entries, or bookmark for convenience. For more information, please see WP:CAN10K. Thank-you, and please spread the word to those you know who might be interested in joining this effort to improve the quality of Canada-related articles. – Reidgreg (talk) 03:34, 17 October 2019 (UTC)
Infoboxes
Regardless of whether they were defeated last night or retired from politics and didn't even reoffer at all, an outgoing MP's term in office ends with the writ drop. So for an MP who isn't coming back to Ottawa, the end date for their term is September 11, not October 21. Please see WP:CANSTYLE#Terms in office. Bearcat (talk) 00:28, 23 October 2019 (UTC)

Featuring your work on Wikipedia's front page: DYKs
Thank you for your recent articles, including Joan Bamford Fletcher, which I read with interest. When you create an extensive and well referenced article, you may want to have it featured on Wikipedia's main page in the Did You Know section. Articles included there will be read by thousands of our viewers. To do so, add your article to the list at T:TDYK. This can be also done through this helpful user script: User:SD0001/DYK-helper. WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages
Thank you for your recent articles, including Joan Bamford Fletcher, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like WikiProject Keyword to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. Feel free to ask me any questions if you'd like more information about using those talk page templates. Hi there, Jiffles1, and thank you for creating several detailed biographies of Canadian women. DYK for Gouzenko Affair
On 27 April 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gouzenko Affair, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Gouzenko Affair marked the beginning of the Cold War in Canada? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gouzenko Affair. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Gouzenko Affair), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
