==Very Strange Article== |
|||
Hello, you seem like a person that has some insight into Chinese history. I have seen this article Cho La incident and I find it very biased and it seems unauthentic. The sources are largely Indian, and I could not find any neutral sources for this article. The casualty count and results also seems very odd. Do you have any insight into this matter? I suspect it may be a propaganda article made by nationalistic Indians who felt disappointed after their loss in the Sino-Indian War Greentea555 (talk) 08:39, 17 November 2015 (UTC) |

About your move,[1] would "Special administrative region (People's Republic of China)" be a better name? There's another article at Special administrative region (Republic of China). Jeffrey (202.189.98.144) (talk) 16:36, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- I see. But it isn't natural to have the two pages disambiguated by 'China' and 'Republic of China'. 'Taiwan' isn't applicable in this case. Jeffrey (202.189.98.144) (talk) 16:44, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- It isn't natural to those who are asking to be confused. For everyone else, I'm sure it's fine. SchmuckyTheCat (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:50, 20 March 2012 [2].
- But it's a topic specific to a sovereign state. It isn't a generic topic. For example we have an article at British overseas territory instead of Overseas territory. Jeffrey (202.189.98.144) (talk) 16:57, 20 March 2012 (UTC)
- "British overseas territory" is much closer to "Special administrative region (China)" than "Special administrative region (People's Republic of China)", which would be more equivalent to "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland Overseas Territory". Anyway, I think Jiang is right that the term "Special administrative region" is predominantly used to refer to Hong Kong and Macau. CMD (talk) 12:37, 21 March 2012 (UTC)

Demographics of China
Hi Jiang, I restored two of my changes you reverted at Demographics of China. The first one is the article title - WP:MOS-ZH makes exceptions for political and diplomatic contexts and for referencing official documents, however demographics is not one of these things, and the bolded text in the lede should match the article title as best as possible. The second one is HIV/AIDS in China - the PRC version of the link is just a redirect to the China title. I don't think this is something that needs political clarity either, it's just a health topic related to China, nothing government related. – NULL ‹talk›

History of transport in China
Your assertion that the scope of the article is from 1949 onwards is false. There is no such limit in the scope of the article, simply content that hasn't been detailed yet. There is no other article detailing transport in China prior to 1949 and if an editor wished to add such content it would be added to this article. – NULL ‹talk›

Fall of the Qing dynasty
Hi Jiang, just noticed your changes at Economic history of China (1912–1949) regarding the year of the fall of the Qing dynasty. Our current article on Qing dynasty references 1911 pretty extensively through the entire article, if this year is wrong then that article will probably need to be updated as well. – NULL ‹talk›

Disambiguation link notification for April 27
Hi. When you recently edited Property Law of the People's Republic of China, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page State Council (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Nationalist China
So you don't believe the KMT government was called "Nationalist China"? The usage is very common. Here it is used in an AP report dated January 24, 1927, i.e. when it was still located in Canton. Kauffner (talk) 12:41, 8 May 2012 (UTC)
- The news accounts from the civil war period all talk about "Nationalist China" and "Communist China". Here is "Chiang Orders Nationalist China Placed On War Footing" (Oct. 10, 1946). That's a headline, so this usage was presumably familiar to readers at that time. The term is even more useful in retrospect. Chiang Kai-shek is described everywhere as the president of Nationalist China,[3] meaning that he was president of the ROC both before and after 1949. Take a look at this ngram. Donald Tsang
Though I have been originally in favour of removing the British title from the lead (and the infobox), however this rationale provided in the edit summary appears to fall on the wrong side of Wikipedia's policy on no original research. The simple use of the postnom does not in any way affect the perception of Donald Tsang being awarded substantive knighthood, since that fact would be available within the body text itself. Tsang has, in fact, stated that he will continue to use the "KBE" postnom and not the title itself, the use of the postnom may be justified. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 13:43, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- I do not recall seeing anything to suggest that Tsang stated that he will continue to use the "KBE" postnom and not the title itself. He appears on government publications, whenever post-nominals are rendered (i.e. "GBM", and until 2005, "GBM, JP"), without the KBE after his name. The same rationale for excluding "Sir" equally applies to "KBE".--Jiang (talk) 14:04, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
- I was referring to his statement which was highlighted by Clithering, where he stated that he would continue using the "KBE" on his business cards. In any case, I agree with the last part of your comment above. Best regards, — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 09:18, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
- The article excerpt provided by Clithering made no mention of the post-nominals, but stated that only the GBM would appear on his business card, implying that KBE would not. Here it is again, with the relevant section bolded: 明報A01(2005-03-13)上月底知董請辭未講會否參選:「... --Jiang (talk) 09:17, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you for the clarification. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 17:16, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
Jiang, since the administrator who closed the RfC has clarified that using the title along with the name of the subject can raise potential BLP issues, it is not proper to do so on the article. There is no controversy or dispute around this fact, and Regentspark has clarified it through his subsequent edits on the page. Please continue to discuss the content changes on the talk page of the article. — Nearly Headless Nick {c} 17:16, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- I basically moved information that was previously in the footnote to text that is in front of the footnote. There should be nothing controversial about that. Regentspark concluded that stand-alone mentions of the title+name would be inappropriate, but this is clearly not a stand-alone mention as it states in the same sentence that he does not use this title. Please post a note on the talk page explaining your revert of my edits and we can continue the discussion there. BTW, you reverted more than that - it would be nice to know in the first sentence the years in which Tsang was CE. Please restore the second edit. --Jiang (talk) 03:02, 11 July 2012 (UTC)

If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

Hey Jiang, there's a debate here on the Talk:Chengdu J-20 page as to whether or not it is a 'purported' or actual 5th-generation stealth fighter. The citation numerous authors have used seems to be unclear on this and I'm concerned 'purported' is a weasel word. I don't want to run afoul of 3RR, so please check in, thanks. Better source request for File:Shakers engraving.jpg
Thanks for your upload to Wikipedia:
You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact Web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talk page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 20:52, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

Question regarding Vanuatu's diplomatic relations
Hi. I am currently doing some research on Vanuatu's diplomatic relations, and it is almost impossible to find information on it - the country barely has any official, governmental websites. I noticed that the wikipedia page for Foreign relations of Vanuatu says that the country has relations with more than 65 countries - which caught my attention, but no fonts were given. I went through the history of the article and saw that you were the one who wrote it years ago. Would you by any chance have any fonts to it, or have access to a list (what are those 65 countries? I really would like to know, would help me out a lot on my studies...)? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 177.96.216.115 (talk) 02:57, 12 September 2014 (UTC)

Very Strange Article
Hello, you seem like a person that has some insight into Chinese history. I have seen this article Cho La incident and I find it very biased and it seems unauthentic. The sources are largely Indian, and I could not find any neutral sources for this article. The casualty count and results also seems very odd. Do you have any insight into this matter? I suspect it may be a propaganda article made by nationalistic Indians who felt disappointed after their loss in the Sino-Indian War Greentea555 (talk) 08:39, 17 November 2015 (UTC)
