That other account...
...I noted it in the ANI thread, I think; it was already there on the Dutch wiki. Just keep an eye on it: if it starts editing, which I doubt, I'll block it. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 03:13, 24 October 2016 (UTC)

Blanked categories
Some were poorly named, others unlikely ever to have a sufficient number of articles to justify existing. Abyssal (talk) 22:58, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
- Redirects are probably best, but it's probably not really important. Abyssal (talk) 15:19, 2 November 2016 (UTC)
Want to help test advanced new tools planned for Recent Changes?
Hi JarrahTree! I’m reaching out to you because our logs tell us you’re an active Twinkle new user welcomer. The WMF Collaboration team is working on new tools that we hope will be useful to people engaged in reviewing recent changes, fighting vandalism or supporting new users. We want to test them for usability with editors who are experienced with relevant wiki work. If you’re interested in helping to shape this new technology—we’d like to hear from you.
The testing should take about an hour, will be conducted online, and will take place during the next few weeks. To participate, please email dchen[at]wikimedia.org with the subject line Twinkle Welcomer. Include the following information:
- Username
- Email where we can reach you
- Your city or time zone
- Best time to talk to you
- Your primary use(s) of Twinkle or Recent Changes (e.g., reviewing recent changes, reviewing with a particular focus (specify), anti-vandalism, new-page review, welcoming new users, etc.)
Thanks! Dchen (WMF) (talk) 23:36, 1 November 2016 (UTC)
was currently being re-built
Re this edit to Railway Reserves Heritage Trail:
The Koongamia platform, although in use for only about five years, was currently being re-built as public sculpture
"was currently" sounds like something the Doctor might say. For the benefit of those readers without a TARDIS, could you clarify that sentence please. (I'd fix it myself of course, but there's no inline cite to check. Mitch Ames (talk) 12:10, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Challenges
Actually, most of the feedback I've received on the subject has been positive...I can't speak to others who have been involved, but a number of people have contacted me with thanks for alerting them about the challenges. And it seems to be working; it seems that a great deal of good content has come out of them.
Will the challenges be something viable to repeat? I don't know - I hope so. But once they're done, I, at least, hope to sit down and examine what's worked and what hasn't. See what can be improved in the future. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:02, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
- Well, I haven't found an easy way of weeding them out. If there was, I'd use it - believe me. As it stands, I've tried AWB and Media Wiki for mass messaging, and I prefer the former; it allows me to control the message a bit better than does the latter.
- To your point about encouraging editor retention - well, I don't think that's the goal of the challenge project, really. It's a content-generation project, and has less to do with retaining editors. That is a subject on which I have many opinions, most of which have been covered by others elsewhere.
- Don't worry - I don't take the response personally. Frankly, there's very little online I do take personally. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 03:09, 6 November 2016 (UTC)
