A big thank youFor this. Fortunately my awful English has always a generous copyeditor :-) --Ecemaml (talk) 16:30, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi, Gibmetal, I see your point with regard to the title Spanish Civil War in Gibraltar. However, I don't feel confortable with your proposal. I mean, some of the topics I'd like to talk about are definitely efects on Gibraltar (for example, the influx of refugees or the way the request for further democratization promoted by the Gibraltar unions was prevented because of the instability created by the war). However, others, such as the presence of Republican sheeps in the port of Gibraltar or the use of the port by the parties of the Non-Intervention Committee are not "efects" but "events" related to the War that took place in Gibraltar. Could you propose other title for the article? Best regards and thanks again --Ecemaml (talk) 15:43, 8 December 2009 (UTC) PS: I've got a very bad habit related to start articles without finishing the ones I've begun. Could you please take a look at Party for the Autonomy of Gibraltar?
IssueHi Gibmetal, first of all, thank you for your copyedit in Party for the Autonomy of Gibraltar. It's a pleasure to work with you. However, the content of my message is related to the article on the Spanish Civil War and Gibraltar. The issue is, as usual, my poor English. I'm currently working with two sources. One is Jackson work. It's a very good source on military aspects. The other is a Spanish-language work, which is superv in those events related to the Spanish refugees in the Rock. Well, with regard to the first one, I'm afraid that I won't be able to summarize Jackson's work without resembling too much a copyvio, as I don't think I'll manage to go too away of the source. With regard to the second, I've got the same problem: although I could write a very good text in Spanish, my translation to English will be poor. With regard to the first one, a preliminary approach would be trying to create a text and provide the original Jackson's book (for example, via flickr or mail if you trust me enough to provide me your email address :-)) to you for you to review my text. With regard to the second, I don't know whether a translation would be too much for you. Anyway, I'd be happy with any help you could provide (and also considering that I'm really very short of time). What do you think? Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 22:21, 11 December 2009 (UTC)
No worries, I haven't have much time to produce much material. On the other hand, one of the good things of living in a so small country (I guess) is that it's much more likely to date a Miss World than in any other country ;-) I'll keep you informed of my progress (if any) --Ecemaml (talk) 22:23, 16 December 2009 (UTC) Were you aware that the image that the IP user deleted from Kaiane Aldorino is listed for deletion as a copyright violation on Commons? Woogee (talk) 23:40, 15 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi Gibmetal, I've read that you took 150 pictures!!! Would you take some of other members of the parade? Especifically, I'd like to know whether you took one to the Chief Minister, Peter Caruana. The one we currently have (File:Peter Caruana elected.jpg) is really awful. Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 16:12, 19 December 2009 (UTC)
DYK nomination of Kaiane AldorinoHello! Your submission of Kaiane Aldorino at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Please review the comment(s) underneath your nomination's entry and respond there as soon as possible. Thank you for contributing to Did You Know! Materialscientist (talk) 06:52, 18 December 2009 (UTC) DYK for Kaiane AldorinoMerry ChristmasSeasons greetings, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Justin talk 23:24, 22 December 2009 (UTC) Merry ChristmasHi Gibmetal77, I'd like to say you thank you very much for your help, and to wish you a Merry Merry Christmas and also a Happy New Year. Weather is being awful in the center of the Peninsula. I wish it's better in the South tip :-) Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 13:53, 23 December 2009 (UTC) PS: BTW, do you know whether El Faro de Gibraltar is still sold?
Yep, the car was a very good one :-) As you've possibly noticed, the second half of the 20th century is the most difficult to illustrate (too early for copyright expiration and too late for the copyleft movement). In Spain it is even worse, given the exceptionally restrictive copyright legislation (80 years since the death of the author, even for photographs). Thank you for the review in the Flora category. I'll keep you informed. --Ecemaml (talk) 22:40, 26 December 2009 (UTC) Governors of GibraltarHi Gibmetal77 - I have now completed my visit to Gibraltar (specifically the biographies of the Governors). I think you will now find that there are articles for every one of the Governors and photographs for many of them as well. I have enjoyed my visit and thanks for making me feel welcome Dormskirk (talk) 23:40, 2 January 2010 (UTC) DYK for History of the Genoese in GibraltarDYK for Giovanni Battista Calvi
ImagesHi Gibmetal, I've finished your order :-) Take 2 took a long, long time :-) On the other hand, I was thinking of using the images for the list of articles to do. It could be a good idea list also the images that are available. For instance, instead of: We could list it in this way:
What do you think? Finally, I was thinking of rating the articles of the Wikiproject. Has it been done previously? Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 22:29, 10 January 2010 (UTC)
No, you needn't apologize. It was only a joke :-) With regard to rating, you can see the rules in here. We could proceed by listing the articles and assigning a rate according to the Assessment FAQ. If we agree, the rate is added and if we disagree, we can discuss them on a one-by-one case. You could invite whoever might be interested. What do you think? --Ecemaml (talk) 13:22, 11 January 2010 (UTC) YOUR PHOTO OF GIBRALTAR - THANKS FOR RELEASING IT PUBLICLYHi - I saw your photo of Gibraltar, which was released to the public domain per your licensing agreement (I am new to Wikimedia, so forgive me for stating the obvious....) I wanted to let you know that my mother, a travel writer who is publishing a story on Gibraltar, would like to re-use it in her travel story on this destination. She can notify you if/when it is published, if you like. (She was not paid for writing the story, unfortunately –so none of you will be getting rich from this!). Thanks so much for the terrific picture, and for agreeing to allow us – and everyone -- to re-use it. Do you want a photo credit if it is published? If so, please send me your full name for attribution. “Photo by XXXX”. Thanks again! Wikiwacky0367 (talk) 00:25, 14 January 2010 (UTC) Our LadyHi Gibmetal, I think I've finished the article. Although it possibly needs an additional copyedit, I've moved to the principal space. Could you please do a final review (and also from John Baptist Scandella)? Many thanks in advance --Ecemaml (talk) 23:42, 16 January 2010 (UTC)
PicturesHi Gibmetal, I'd like to add some pictures to your "to-do list" :-) The first one is from the Cathedral of St. Mary the Crowned and is related to Juan Romero de Figueroa. It seems as if the altar of the Blessed Sacrament in the Cathedral keeps a marble tablet with the initials of Juan Romero de Figueroa. He's also buried there. Could it be possible to take a picture at least from the initials?. On the other hand, if you read this (page 7), you'll see than in the Gibraltar Museum there is a Spanihs Republican flag delivered by the crew of the José Luis Díaz to the TGWU. It would be nice to have a picture of the flag to illustrate the article on the Spanish Civil War. No hurries, of course. But if by chance you go to the Cathedral or the Museum, don't forget them :-) Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 21:39, 18 January 2010 (UTC)
RfC: Self-governmentTalk:Gibraltar#RfC:_Self-government Seeing as no one thought to invite you. Justin talk 12:30, 23 January 2010 (UTC) RatingHi, Gibmetal, thank you for your comments. I'll try not to forget to include references to infoboxes and images. On the other hand, could you please review Joshua Hassan and Adolfo Canepa? Thank you in advance --Ecemaml (talk) 16:44, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Re: Category:Gibraltarian sportspeopleNo problem. I'm actually learning a lot thanks to you :-) --Ecemaml (talk) 19:53, 28 January 2010 (UTC) FinlaysonHi Gibmetal, I tried to follow WP:NC when it says "Using names and terms most commonly used in reliable sources". As long as the record in the Australian library or some of his works in the Gibraltarian press (see this) refers to him by his initials, I thought it was his most commonly used name. But your arguments are also sensible so... be bold :-) Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 21:46, 28 January 2010 (UTC) PS: with regard to Finlayson's book it would be interesting to review its pictures and try to determine if any of them is in the public domain.
DYK nomination of Our Lady of EuropeHello! Your submission of Our Lady of Europe at the Did You Know nominations page has been reviewed, and there still are some issues that may need to be clarified. Hope it helps. Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 21:40, 30 January 2010 (UTC)
DYK for Our Lady of EuropeBack :-(Hi Gibmetal, I've just returned from hospital to pick some items I forgot. My second kid is just born and until I reorder my real life I don't know when and how much I'll be able to work in wikipedia. I sincerely appreciate your offer and promise to consider it as soon as I return. Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 11:19, 4 February 2010 (UTC)
Hi Gibmetal77, I appreciate your proposal, but I have to reject it :-( Not because I don't think it's an obvious development of the Wikiproject but mainly because of my objective lack of time. Mind that not only I have now two kids (the mother, as me, is hugely tired ;-)) but my regular job and also I'm starting a PhD, so my amount of available time is extremely limited (I have also to recognize that my commitment to the topics of the project is irregular, as I'm mainly interested in history and politics and not in the rest if issues). I'll try to go on as usual, creating more articles listed in the to-do list, but unfortunatelly, I cannot commit to a specific amount of articles. Sorry :-( --Ecemaml (talk) 16:18, 17 February 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I knew it. You can comment in here. The block was finally lift as, as far as I understand, was the result of a misjudgement. As I told you through email, I'd like to nominate Our Lady of Europe as a good article. But possibly there will be some issues related to the English language usage and I don't fell comfortable to fix them myself. Would you help me if I nominate the article? Best regards --Ecemaml (talk) 12:16, 5 March 2010 (UTC) PS: I'm asking the involved admin to restore Colin Ramirez. I'll keep you informed.
