{{unblock|Your reason here}}
below, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. talkYou were warned repeatedly, and now your account has been blocked for 31 hours. When you are able to edit again, please do so in a collaborative fashion, respecting consensus and the views of other editors, and without edit warring, attacks on other editors, and generally disruptive editing. If you cannot do that this account will likely be blocked indefinitely. Editing on Wikipedia requires patience and a willingness to work with others—you did not exhibit those attributes today, and instead you wasted a lot of people's time because you refused to listen to what others were telling you. --Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 19:39, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Request reason:
Please unban me. People told me that I shouldn't write on the Barack Obama article so I listened. Now they have blocked me because they don't want me to write on the talk pages. This ban is completely wrong because I was trying to get Wikipedia to be as accurate as possible and not embellish the Barack Obama article. You see, he was a part time Senior Lecturer which is very distinguished. However, reporters are often inaccurate and some have referred to him as professor. This little detail between Professor and professor is often lost on the reader. Some people want to embellish his resume but the interests of Wikipedia should be more important than supporting a politician. I support Obama but I support accuracy in Wikipedia more. So please unban me and I will let those supporters win. Please don't try to show that you are powerful by refusing this polite request.
Decline reason:
Sorry, no. You don't even seem to be able to request an unblock without being insulting and argumentative. That won't work. --jpgordon::==( o ) 19:45, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
You haven't been banned, you've been blocked for 31 hours. Gwen Gale (talk) 19:55, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- If Gaydenver agrees to avoid anything related to Obama for the full duration of the block, I have no problem with another admin unblocking, though I don't think it really does any harm to leave the block on either (I'll take no action either way myself). The block was to prevent further editing to Barack Obama and the talk page for a short while, so if a verbal agreement to that effect replaces the block that's acceptable. Were it to be violated though I would suggest a longer block would be in order. --Bigtimepeace | talk | contribs 19:56, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I was typing that I agreed and was getting ready to unblock him when the below edit conflicted. Needless to say...I didn't. --Smashvilletalk 19:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Settle down. See WP:5 pillars. Gwen Gale (talk) 19:59, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Not enough. I don't agree that you've vandalised the site, but I do think you've been highly disruptive. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:02, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
I respectfully point out that the block page says "They are not intended for use in retaliation, as punishment, or where there is no current conduct issue which is of concern" I have already stated that I wish unblock to write some other things on completely unrelated subjects. I beg you, please, please, please.... Gaydenver (talk) 20:03, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
One thing that I would do is to better the Kensington, Maryland article. Look at the city government section. Completely inadequate. The education system is just a list of elementary schools. Many other problems. Please, please unblock. Gaydenver (talk) 20:05, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Stay away from Obama topics (mind, I'm no fan of Mr Obama) for two weeks and I'll unblock you. If you disrupt this website again you'll likely be blocked again, but for much longer. It's up to you. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:09, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ok, but may I suggest less than 2 weeks? But I am in no position to argue so I will agree to anything. Gaydenver (talk) 20:11, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ok then, I won't unblock you unless you agree to stay away from Obama topics for at least a month and agree to thoroughly read and abide by WP:5 pillars. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:14, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Why are you adding to the length? Ok, I will abide by the length. Gaydenver (talk) 20:15, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I have read the 5 pillars document. I learned that "wikipedia is not a newspaper".
- Because you don't seem to have any wish to abide by the policies of this privately owned website. Will you read and abide by them, along with staying away from Obama topics for at least one month (which will give you lots of time to learn about how things are done here)? Gwen Gale (talk) 20:18, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I will abide by the 5 pillars. As proof, I learned from reading that page that Wikipedia is not a newspaper so I won't add news to it and will abide by the 30 days period.Gaydenver (talk) 20:20, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- You must also agree to stay away from Obama topics for one month, which will give you lots of time to learn about the policies here. Gwen Gale (talk)
- If that's all you got out of it, I'm not going to be the one to unblock you. Read some more of the policies and guidelines, come up with something that explains why your recent edits were problematic, and I'll be happy to unblock. Of course, Gwen or another admin might have a different threshold for unblocking... --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:25, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

If you unban me, I will take a break from the Talk:Barack Obama page. Even Queen of Battle suggested that others step back and let the discussion continue until automatically archived. So banning me alone doesn't seem to go along with the general advice given by Queen of Battle. If you unban me, I'll fix up some other unrelated articles. Please do not torture me like this. Thank you.

Request reason:
I agreed to everything. First 2 weeks, then a month. Then Sarek of Vulcan wanted additional conditions. Please, please don't put me on an emotional rollercoaster! I am sorry that I am accused of Wikilawyering but I never referred to any Wikipedia policy. I was just asked to review the 5 pillars page, which I did. You will note that I agreed to more restrictive conditions, including a month's rest on the President which is good but if you refuse, then I can come back in 31 hours without restrictions. I appeal to you for immediate unblock, so that I can fix the Kensington, Maryland article, which I really want to do. I'll agree to the added 1 month condition just to be niceGaydenver (talk) 20:30, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Decline reason:
You're really missing the point here. It's not a question of being nice, it's a question of not disrupting the encyclopedia. I'd suggest copying the content you want to edit from the Kensington article over here, editing it for the next day, and then copying it back over in one swell foop tomorrow. Also, multiple unblock requests are considered disruptive: please don't add another template here. If you feel there's more to discuss, go right ahead -- I'm sure there are a bunch of people watching the page by now.SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:40, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

- I hope you understand that threatening to return to the behavior that got you blocked -- which you did when you wrote "if you refuse, then I can come back in 31 hours without restriction" -- is not wise at all. I read Gwen's comments above as topic-banning you from Obama-related articles for 1 month. You don't get to "agree to the added month just to be nice." If an administrator topic-bans you from Obama-related articles, you're topic-banned. She was simply considering "being nice" and unblocking you early so you could edit other articles. UnitAnode 20:39, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- It is inappropriate for you to get involved because you were one of the first to want to disregard the difference between professor and Professor in the article.
- Furthermore, I am merely stating the obvious. I may return after 31 hours with no conditions or I may return immediately agreeing to a 30 day period of staying away from the article. I did not create this condition nor am I threatening. I am merely saying that I agree to either one. Gaydenver (talk) 20:42, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- Bear in mind that "no conditions" isn't quite correct -- you'll be held to the same conditions the rest of us are. Believe me, if I had been making the same edits you were, I would have been blocked just as quickly -- or maybe even faster, because I'm an admin and should know better.--SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:44, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- You made a report to ANI after I made one edit reverting your inappropriate edit. That in no way disqualifies me from letting you know that your actions are not going to be looked upon well. And I note that Gwen has confirmed my initial understanding of her posts here in her statement below. UnitAnode 20:48, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Gaydenver, whatever happens, I'm topic banning you from Obama topics for a month as of now. After your block is up, you can appeal this topic ban at WP:ANI but I most strongly hope you'll take the time to thoroughly read, understand and abide by the policies of this website instead. Gwen Gale (talk) 20:46, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
Please remove your decision, Sarek of Vulcan
Several people are looking at this page. Bigtimepeace said he wouldn't object. By making a decision and saying that I cannot ask again, you are turning yourself into a Supreme Court. The more objective thing to do would be to unblock immediately or leave requests alone if you aren't going to unblock. However, refusing unblock so soon just makes you into the court of last resort, a sort of Supreme Court.
Please look at it from a consumer's point of view. I agreed to all the conditions. However, people are stacking new conditions and being generally consumer unfriendly. This puts Wikipedia in a bad light. It's almost like if you had a bad consumer experience and the company keeps throwing roadblocks. True, the consumer may have some of the blame, but creating a lot of hoops is not really a good idea.
So I ask you again, while I still have some sense left, please unblock me and I will stay away from the article. Please do not throw additional roadblocks. The part about putting the Kensington, Maryland stuff here is extremely cumbersome. Having to go through all those hoops, few people would write for Wikipedia. Gaydenver (talk) 20:49, 26 August 2009 (UTC)
- I didn't say you couldn't ask again. I just pointed out the very-likely results of the course of action. If you want to try it and see what happens, I promise not to take action against you, or urge anyone else to. --SarekOfVulcan (talk) 20:52, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Notes:
- In some cases, you may not in fact be blocked, or your block has already expired. Please check the list of active blocks. If no block is listed, then you have been autoblocked by the automated anti-vandalism systems. Please remove this request and follow these instructions instead for quick attention by an administrator.
- Please read our guide to appealing blocks to make sure that your unblock request will help your case. You may change your request at any time.
If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, replace this template with the following, replacing "blocking administrator" with the name of the blocking admin:
{{Unblock on hold |1=blocking administrator |2=Per above(Sarek's comments), I request unblock. I'm willing to let bygones be bygones and want to fix up that poorly written [[Kensington, Maryland]] article and sections. Please don't throw a lot of hoops to jump.
