Duffy was named the district's first Texas State Teacher of the Year in 2001. How kind to "Welcome" me! I will absolutely study and contribute to the best of my ability with these links, as many will come in handy! There will certainly be questions that will be in need of an answer, so my hope is that you will not mind if a few were directed towards your knowledge with Wikipedia. Thank you! Can a High School Yearbook be used as a "Reference"?
Hi Beth, I just wanted to let you know that your question was moved here.[1] Cheers. A Quest For Knowledge (talk) 18:13, 16 June 2011 (UTC)
Thank you! I agree having a context would be helpful. Seems as if the opinions are all over the place, yet lean to likely "no". Any additional thoughts? ElizabethCB123 (talk) 03:20, 17 June 2011 (UTC)
College year book
Saw your yearbook question and thought that Richard Leroy Walters might be a relevant example of how a college yearbook might be used. A high school yearbook could probably be used similarly. I'm not so sure that it is a primary source, or a secondary one, (there can be a gray area), but just identifying the source in the text would help. Smallbones (talk) 19:06, 22 June 2011 (UTC)
Dear Smallbones- Thank you for your entry! I have looked at a number of yearbooks since posing this question- And my conclusion is that not all are created equal when there is no publishing company noted or means of verifying information. I agree it is a "Grey Area", yet might come in handy when in need of a supportive foundation for making a point. Your example is a great one. Very much appreciated. Dear Smallbones- Your "User Page" is extremely helpful to others. (and interesting too!) Thank you! ElizabethCB123 (talk) 00:04, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
"Full Citation" requested and noted here. "Most Artistic Senior"- Marisol Deluna
"One Hundred Years of Excellence- The Story Of The Alamo Heights Independent School District" isbn = 978-1-57864-558-9 by Mary Fisher, Donning Company Publishers, 2009, page 144
"Another graduate with an international reputation, Marisol Deluna '85, became a New York- based fashion designer with ateliers in New York, Paris and Buenos Aires. "I had two art classed my senior year- Art IV and Art V. Carol Ackles created the additional class for me," she recalled, so she could pursue creative projects for her own and for school. "I was exempt from my other classes when I needed to work on these projects, provided I could maintain my GPA, which I did," added Deluna, voted "Most Artistic Senior" the year she graduated."
I located another article stating this recognition from a 1985 local newspaper notation and will add it when the "Full Citation" is sent to me. Thank you! ElizabethCB123 (talk) 17:27, 26 June 2011 (UTC)
