Hello, Dwid hellion. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about in the page Integrity (band), you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. --Guy Macon (talk) 20:25, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- I was not promoting, I was changing the incorrect geographical location where my band has been based for almost 20 years. Somehow the editors on wiki choose to relocate my band to another continent for their own entertainment. This type of inaccuracy seems to be ongoing by several editors on wiki. I would prefer that my band was not slandered and misrepresented with the endless inaccuracies that wiki often shares. Usually, these inaccuracies come with a clear intention of harming my band and its efforts. As the one editor proudly stated earlier today, "I have never heard of this band" and yet this poster is also an expert on a band they have never heard of? Please remove my band from your wiki database. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dwid hellion (talk • contribs) 20:44, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- You shouldn't be editing pages about yourself or your business per WP:NPOV. If there is a WP:INDEPENDENT, WP:RELIABLE that contradicts the otehr sources that show that the band did in fact start in Cleveland, post it on the talk page and if a WP:CONSENSUS is reached, the change will be made. Please also read WP:PROMOTION and MOS:PUFFERY. Please consider that you put multiple links to merch sales sites on the band page and your own user page. Your claim that you were not promoting is unjustified. Also, please read WP:AFD for how to nominate an article for deletion. Kire1975 (talk) 20:57, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kire1975 I can see that this is a personal issue for you and that you are not as unfamiliar with my band as you stated earlier. You have made it clear that you shall remain persistent in personally deciding where I reside. so I will leave you to your fun. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dwid hellion (talk • contribs) 21:30, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- You have two choices. Either you follow the rules that I posted above or you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. If you choose to follow our rules, we welcome corrections from band members. Simply go to Talk:Integrity (band) and post something like "Hi! I am a member of the band. You got the geographical location wrong. The correct location is X." Someone will come along and fix the article shortly. If you choose to continue breaking our rules, you will be unable to edit Wikipedia and we won't find out about such errors. Your choice. --Guy Macon (talk) 21:41, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- We go with that wP:rs say, if they are incorrect you need to take this up with them.Slatersteven (talk) 12:48, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- I believe that I have got the geographical information sorted out.
- "Integrity is an hardcore band, originally from Cleveland, Ohio but based in Belgium since 2003.[1][2] It was formed in 1988 by lead vocalist Dwid Hellion."

- The MTV and cleveland.com sources are not clear on the exact date of the move, but multiple unreliable sources such as https://www.discogs.com/artist/275371-Integrity-2 give 2003 as the date, nobody seems to dispute it, and I don't see why anyone would lie about it. If anyone challenges the 2003 date I will remove it, but the fact that the band moved to Belgium is covered by reliable sources.
- User:Dwid hellion has not edited Integrity (band) since my warning above. If it happens again I will take the usual route and will no doubt get the usual result.
- Alas, the Integrity (band) page appears to have attracted someone who has a personal animosity against either the band or one of the members, and is exhibiting WP:IDHT and WP:CIR behavior such as a belief that if someone vandalizes a page someone else removes the vandalism, and then they revert the removal, they are not responsible for the fact that the page is once again vandalized. I still need to do a bunch of copyediting to make that page less promotional. I am hoping that they will hold off on the disruption long enough for me to finish (I am working right now and can only edit Wikipedia while waiting for certain test to complete, and cleaning up that page will take my full attention). --Guy Macon (talk) 16:56, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- More WP:GASLIGHTing from Guy. Either I'm not quick enough to figure out and fix what he calls a "bad edit" while simultaneously fielding false allegations of being WP:INCOMPETENT and WP:PERSONALATTACKS, or I'm not "holding off" long enough for him to make the same exact edit that I suggested with my tag and that he had previously called bad. I don't have animosity against the band or oneof its members. I never heard of it before yesterday. I did make an observation that it was ironic that the founder of a band called "Integrity" has been allowed to violate just about every basic standard on wikipedia for over 11 years, but I don't hate anybody for it. At the same time, y'all don't need my unconditional love. Guy has been retaliating against me so many ways since then, but I don't regret it. The band page is not a promo page but y'all get furious when I remove a merch page from it. If you can prove I am "not as unfamiliar with my band as you stated earlier," prove it. Otherwise, it's just another WP:PERSONALATTACK and now we both need to WP:FOCUSONCONTENT Thank you, Dwid, for taking a criticism and not editing the page again, at least. Vic DiCara of Inside Out (band) and Shelter (band) got his editing privileges blocked two weeks ago for doing much less. That was done by consensus, too. Nothing personal, I assure you. Guy has a history of poisoning the well, so whatever. I can't think of any other reason to be involved with this, but I'm not going to cow in fear of anybody. That's all, folks. Good night. Kire1975 (talk) 08:05, 18 December 2020 (UTC)
Kire1975 I can see that you take great pride in your online power role. You always steer these wiki conversations towards yourself and your endless boasts of bullying others as an online content-cop. And yes, before you remind us all once again, we have all repeatedly heard your questionable claim that you have "never heard" of me nor my band . . .yet here you are . . . once again investing so much time and energy into a band that you've never heard of? Strange way to squander your time. It would make more sense if you were doing all of this bullying because you dislike the band, rather than your claim that you have simply randomly chosen a band to target? No one has tried to cause you to "cow in fear". Your endless insults and jabs at me and my band are amusing, and they have once again allowed you to steer the conversation away from wiki, away from my band and directly point all of the attention directly towards yourself. Enjoy the attention, seems like you need it much more than we do. Dwid hellion (talk) 11:14, 18 December 2020 (UTC) dwid
"The band has plays punk, hardcore, and metal-related music, " this is a better description of the bands music (taken from the wiki page) rather than simple "integrity is a hardcore band" but I am starting to understand how this format works, and I assume that the genre determination of my music is not up to me to clarify, but up to the wiki community. Old dog learns new tricks haha
- Thanks for understanding. Writing an encyclopedia is kind of weird compared to most other writing. Everything we do is centered around the idea that we are not writing what we know but instead are writing what we read in published sources. It's a weird rule, but it stops us from becoming another Twitter, where anyone can write anything and they usually do.
- What we really care about is what reliable sources say. Like it or not, if The New York Times, BBC, and NPR say that you play Polka or Ragtime, that's what gets in the encyclopedia. So the key for someone like you who wants to understand how to work with Wikipedia is to read and understand three pages. When you get some free time, click on these links: WP:V WP:RS WP:COI.
- BTW, I just listened to dancing with myself from the Project: Regenesis Album. I liked it better than the Billy Idol original -- and I like Billy Idol a lot. --Guy Macon (talk) 19:44, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
haha thanks
and thanks for taking the time to explain wiki. I had a different understanding of this website before this conversation. As for labels and genre classification, i am a non-conformist and find all of these simple terms, "hardcore" "punk" "metal" "pop" to be limiting and unfair to creativity. I realize that these terms simplify the journalists job, but it can be frustrating when I do interviews and the journalist uses Wiki as a source of fact. They use to Wiki to formulate their interview questions. I can not tell you how many times in the past 2 decades i have been asked about Cleveland related questions. "How is the weather there in Cleveland?", "How are the Cleveland Cavaliers doing this season?", "What are some great new up and coming bands in your city of Cleveland?" while I do realize it is a minor, yet frustrating inconvenience, in the big picture false information begets false reality and confusion.
- Nobody wants Wikipedia to have false information. I hope that my edit:
- "Integrity is an hardcore band, originally from Cleveland, Ohio but based in Belgium since 2003.[1][2] It was formed in 1988 by lead vocalist Dwid Hellion."

- ...will stop people from thinking you are still in cleveland.
- I am still thinking about what to do about the genre labels. I agree that your band is really difficult to pigeonhole. The basic problems with labels is that they assume that different musicians "play the same music". That works OK if we are talking about a symphony orchestra or someone who plays delta blues, but doesn't work well with someone like you. Give me some time to talk it over with other editors. In the meantime we are kind of stuck with saying "cleveland.com calls the band 'hardcore metal'. Does anyone have a reliable source that calls them something else?"
Cleveland?
Re: [1]
Did you not write "One day, I sat down and did the math... and there have been over 60 people in the band. And that was a couple years ago. It's kind of a prep school to be in Cleveland rock and roll."[2]
The same source says "He was in the U.S. for a one-off gig with his band, a temporary return from Belgium, his home for the last two years."
The band is from Cleveland according to reliable independent sources. Do you have any sources that say that you have a band in Belgium? If so, we would be happy to add that information. --Guy Macon (talk) 21:55, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

No, i did not write that. that quote was taken from an interview that was written by DX Ferris and was published in 2005 by clevescene magazine [3]

- OK, it looks like Discog says "Metallic hardcore punk band originally from USA, based in Belgium since 2003." Active in various lineups since 1988 and Last.fm says "Integrity is a metalcore band originally founded in 1988 by vocalist Dwid Hellion. Integrity relocated to Belgium in 2004." I am going to assume that last.fm got the date wrong, based upon your edit comment mentioning 2003. --Guy Macon (talk) 23:01, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
- ISources from the list of perennial sources at WP:RSP can confirm the move to Belgium, it would be least contentious. Also, I tried arguing not too long ago that WP:INTERVIEWS in legitimate sources are WP:SECONDARY but I was flummoxed to discover that I was wrong. Kire1975 (talk) 00:41, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- MTV also says he lives in Belgium:
- http://www.mtv.com/news/2699254/integritys-dwid-hellion-on-suicide-black-snake-humanity-and-charles-manson/
- "Hive telephoned Hellion at his home in the woods in Belgium..."
- --Guy Macon (talk) 04:29, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
- So does cleveland.com:
- https://www.cleveland.com/music/2012/10/hardcore_metal_band_integrity.html
- "Even though influential underground band Integrity is often linked to its beginnings in Cleveland, these days the metallic hardcore act doesn't consider Northeast Ohio anything other than a tour stop. 'The band formed in Cleveland but I wasn't born there,' said Dwid Hellion, who now lives in Belgium. 'I moved to Ohio when I was 15.' "

Removal of link
This regards this edit:
WP:UPYES says:
"You are also welcome to include a simple link to your personal home page, although you should not surround it with any promotional language. However, if a link to your home page is the only thing on your userpage, this may be seen as an attempt at self-promotion."
So, Dwid, if you are willing to write an "about me" paragraph and include something like "my homepage is..." it would be acceptable. --Guy Macon (talk) 04:52, 17 December 2020 (UTC)
