Thanks for the copyvio fixes, and the block. Another editor with a similarly generic female name - Special:Contributions/Jenna_Malkovich - has now added the text right back in; and I've been asked whether, given a high degree of overlap, this seems like the same person. To me, yes - though this second account predates your block (and I have not otherwise undertaken to correlate, e.g., times of edits, or yet examined her edits for other violations). I'll report whatever further I learn (as well as re-insertion of the copyvio material) and am alerting you to this in case there's anything else you'd like to do in the meantime. JohnInDC (talk) 18:14, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks. Also see her edit to Audi Marissa. JohnInDC (talk) 18:17, 8 November 2015 (UTC)

- Okay, that's got it done for now :/ Thank you for reporting. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:35, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Diannaa! I hadn't clicked that in the event you'd done the honours for Joanna rather than JohninDC, so I took this to his page rather than bringing it straight here as perhaps I should have. Anyway, do you, either of you, think it's worth opening an SPI request and asking for check-user here? I have a success rate almost indistinguishable from 0% with such requests, but don't mind trying again if it's needed. Regards (and more thanks for the revdeletions!) Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 19:15, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- Yes please, if you could go ahead with that I would appreciate it. User:Jake Bayu has 8 articles in common with Joanna_Gunadi and two with Jenna_Malkovich. So I wonder. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:23, 8 November 2015 (UTC)
- OK, I did that as best I could (as you presumably know, as I pinged you – or was there something about pings not working from that page?); on past form, I expect it to be declined. I looked at Jake Bayu: his edits seem to be mostly to with awards, and I didn't immediately see any obviously suspect edits; if you did, please go ahead and add him. I'm more worried about the IPs (I haven't researched them, but I don't like this edit or this one, for example), and I imagine that check-users will decline to help with them. How do those usually get handled? A subpage with a list of suspect IPs? Add them to the CCI on suspicion alone? Ask an admin who understands ranges (you?) to identify the likely ones? I know I don't know! Regards, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 02:12, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for getting that started. The ping did not work, probably because the page is auto-signed for you. 139.192.40.108 and 139.192.40.92 are on the same range, but 139.195.169.225 is not. Editing whilst logged out is permitted, not considered socking unless it's done with ill intent, so there's not much point adding them to the SPI I don't think. If a check-user does a sweep, Jake Bayu will be found if it is editing from the same or similar IPs. If you have any particular IPs or accounts that you think should be added to the CCI, that can be done. Just ask MER-C or Moonriddengirl and they can create the material to add to the case page. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:39, 9 November 2015 (UTC)

I wonder why do you guys think it's still promotional there are many others article like this. "the large table of features can be merged into the intro stub paragraph" is already done. And it's a good app and I have used it and tried to everything available in reliable sources. Yahoo-tech is a relible source. unsigned comment added by Socialmux (talk •
- Nothing has changed since the article was deleted as a result of the deletion discussion in July. The source at Yahoo is a press release, not independent coverage. The app is not notable enough for an article at this time. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:21, 9 November 2015 (UTC)
Hi Diannaa,
This editor has been trying to refine their article through the irc help channel, agree the article appears promotional but they were seeking to improve the article and I believe with further assistance they would be able to reduce its promotional nature (no guarantee it will meet criteria for inclusion but that's a separate issue). Would you be amenable to unblocking subject to a user-name change to something less promotional and a declaration of COI/Paid editing on their user/talk page. 88.106.226.6
Hello, The IP editor that you blocked for 2 weeks after persistent disruption to F1 articles has returned in the last few days here today, here on Friday 6 November, and here on Saturday. He has been starting articles and templates in talk-pages again and a lot of edits have had to be corrected by others again. There is also a template for deletion notice on one of his creations Template:Chris Amon Racing which he has now deleted three times. He's also interfered with the discussion at the templates for discussion board by deleting the section. Our previous discussion is in your archive here. He was warned on his (today's) talk-page not to delete the template again, but he blanked the page and deleted the t/plate again. Can you help please? Thanks. Regards, Eagleash (talk) 20:25, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- The prior range was 92.21.240.0/20 but I am going to narrow that to 92.21.240.0/21, as someone else is using the range. We can block 88.106.224.0/20 with minimal collateral damage. I will block for 2 weeks. I have also semi-protected Template:Chris Amon Racing for a week so the TFD can run uneventfully. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 20:46, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you!! I don't know how this going to run out in the long run. Eagleash (talk) 20:55, 10 November 2015 (UTC)
- These ranges in the UK are busy, else I might do longer blocks. I left a message at the IP talk page, which hopefully he reads before his IP once again switches. User talk:88.106.226.6. We've had some successes in the past with a combination of protection and range blocks with other persistent vandals/disruptive editors. We shall see. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 21:00, 10 November 2015 (UTC)

- Okay, when i visit the source page of those image as this, i can only see the watermark (Bollywoodhungama logo) on the image. So, if any other website pictures have watermark of their website logo on the image; that image is released under license, or we have to request them for their permission? - (talk page stalker) According to the documentation at c:Template:Cc-by-3.0-BollywoodHungama, “photos copyrighted by other sites” are specifically mentioned as not covered by the BH licence, so I would say yes, you would have to get permission from the owner. (Remember that this must allow anyone to use the image for any purpose, not just for WP.)—Odysseus1479 05:53, 11 November 2015 (UTC)

Onel5969 TT me 16:36, 11 November 2015 (UTC)Notability of organization help - feliciakw - the people's alliance
Hi Dianaa!! You made some changes to my original article which I really appreciated. I resubmitted it and "LaMona" rejected it because she felt the group was not 'notable'. I am sure that everyone who gets rejected has reasons why they feel their topic is notable, why else would you spend the time creating a page? If my page is going to ultimately be rejected because it is not notable - I need to change course fast. I am asking for your advice on how to proceed.
I am taking a class at NCCU in Durham called "Writing for Social Change". Our first project was to create or add to a Wiki page relevant to the social and political activism in our community. Durham, NC has a population of 250,000. The Research Triangle is anchored by Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill and has a combined population of 1M and is home to Duke and UNC as well as a dozen other colleges. We are a notably sized community.
I originally wanted to create a page on the Crest Street neighborhood. It is of great significance socially and politically as well as of great civil rights importance. In the mid-1970s, the NCDOT, USDOT and FHWA planned to obliterate another historically significant African American neighborhood in Durham with the Durham Freeway 147 extension (Hayti was the first). The community rallied and the government moved the neighborhood out of the way of the freeway at a cost of $10M. They are the only neighborhood moved to date, anywhere in the US, that the GOVERNMENT paid the entire cost. It's a big deal.
It was (is) too big a topic for the time I had available. The research made me aware of how much justice the People's Alliance has won in the last 40 years. They first came together as a group as part of the steering committee that worked with Crest Street. The members worked with the community to help align parties together - the Crest Street Council - the church - legal aid - the city and county - traffic engineers - environmental groups...the list goes on. So I decided to do their page.
Below is my supporting data. I'm All of my sources are valid. I hope you will find the PA notable. I really don't want to flunk my project.
Thank you kindly!!! -felicia

- Hi Feliciakw. The thing that establishes notability (as Wikipedia defines it) is in-depth coverage in multiple sources that are independent of the subject of the article. What you need to do is incorporate any of these that meet that criterion as citations in your draft. Then re-submit for publication. Good luck, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:43, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Dealing with prolific editor's copyright vios and other issues
Hi Diannaa, I was referred to you by Dr. K about a problem I've been having with a prolific Spanish editor from the Canary islands who has a particular interest in Spanish history in the United States, especially Florida and Texas, both places to which Canary Islanders emigrated. Sorry for such a long post, I'm desperate.
I have found copyright violations in some of his articles, i.e., text copy-and-pasted from English sources, but mostly from Google translations of copyrighted Spanish text. These have been lightly edited, if at all. I've removed them when I've found them, although it's possible that I've corrected text that was in violation and should have been deleted. I don't remember which articles the vios were in, but I don't doubt there are more undeleted or uncorrected vios out there.
I would like to keep fixing these articles as I search them out come across them. He says he is conscious that his English is not good, and that the copy-and-pasting occurred when he was a new editor, and didn't know better (I think he should have known better). He also says that he has since learned to distinguish between reliable and unreliable web sources. I would disagree with that statement. I have no doubt that he has a sincere desire to help build English Wikipedia, but he seems to work very hastily, frequently adding misinterpreted information from sources in English, and even from Spanish ones. His articles are often replete with gross errors of fact and incorrect dates, and some of the references are laughably bad and should be obviously unacceptable. It's evident that he's spent a lot of time creating and expanding these numerous articles, but his fact-checking is not good.
Of course, this editor's noticed the work I've done, and has even left a couple of messages on my talk page requesting that I fix certain articles he created. I have complied with his requests, although I must admit that my heart sinks and I groan inside when he makes further additions to an article I've just fixed, because it means a new round of trying to figure out exactly what he means in his terrible English, fact-checking, and searching out copyright violations, which will be easier now that I know about Earwig's Copyvio detector. A further problem has been that sometimes when I've corrected his English, I've actually brought the text closer to a copyright vio, because his paraphrasing follows the text too closely, but in bad English. Earwig's detector should help with that.
I can hardly command him to stop creating articles, but I'm at wit's end in how to deal with this guy. Personally, I feel it would be better not to have an article at all, than one filled with misinformation, garbled, often unintelligible English, incorrect dates, and references from unreliable web sources. These are trademarks of the guy's work, not to mention the copyvios, to the point that I can tell when he's inserted text into an article not created by him.
It really bothers me to see these badly written articles, and I feel compelled to fix them, especially now that links to them are often displayed at the top of Google search results. I feel, however, that I am engaged in a Sisyphean endeavor, as he is often inspired to add similar content when he sees that I've fixed an article. It never ends, and is very frustrating.
The last article of his I worked on was Juan Leal, and when he started making his signature edits in bad English, I expressed my frustration on the article's talk page. He did respond, but he's added more stuff since. I am fed up with having to deal with his never-ending edits that require so much work to check and fix. I don't really want to collaborate with him; I don't have the time or the heart for it. I would like to simply remove all his latest edits on that article, because as far as I'm concerned, they mess it up.
How do you suggest I handle this situation? Carlstak (talk) 23:47, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Carlstak. Sorry you have had to deal with this problem on your own for so long. Matters like this can really suck all the fun out of editing, eh? I have gone ahead and posted a message on the user's talk page. This is intended as a final warning not to add any more copyright material. I also commented that his English is not actually good enough for him to be contributing here. I know it's harsh, but copyright violation is a problem that places a huge burden on the community in terms of the time that needs to be invested to clean it up, so it has to stop. I will monitor the user for copy vio and hope I can call on you for help if I'm stuck as to where he might be obtaining his material. Thank you for reporting this problem. Regards, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:08, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Copyright violations
I long ago that I do not copy from outside sources. Indeed, the examples you indicated about the editions that I recently copied... Are all them of the years 2010-2013 as much. Carlstak deleted a paragraph that I accidentally copied a few years ago. I thought it was important that paragraph, so I got it back. However, this time, I explained to my words. As for the physical characteristics of Juan Leal, this paragraph is not very important, but I pointed quotation marks, indicating it was a summons. The law does allow that one work cited phrases in quotes of other work (ever the Wikipedia´s rules). Furthermore, the sources in Spanish, I believed that a translation could suffice, while sources in English should be explain with your words. Moreover, I was not aware of my failures in English, because I do understand my articles when I read them, as I understand the articles in English of others (although it is true, I improved my knowledge of English in these last years).--Isinbill (talk) 02:27, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you, your message has been read and understood.-- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 02:31, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- By the way, although sometimes I get information of unreliable sources, In most of the time I don´t this. Generally I differentiate them since the last years. So, now I know I must not get information of Block or Forums (long ago I picked information of these sources) and I lately try to get information of articles signed for expert in the theme of article.--Isinbill (talk) 02:55, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Frankly, Isinbill your English is very poor from my review of your work and as shown in the paragraph above and if you continue to do major editing here on English Wikipedia you should have someone with good language skills copy edit the work first. Other editors should not have carry the load of cleaning up your work. Kierzek (talk) 03:15, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Your advice on an AfD voting policy issue
Hello Diannaa, I would like to steal some of your time and ask for your advice. Another editor has questioned my interpretation of our policies on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vadym Troyan. I have decided to stop contributing to that discussion to avoid getting into unproductive arguments, still, I would appreciate if you could give me your opinion as an experienced administrator on whether you think that my interpretation was right or wrong.
Mainly if it is OK to vote that an article that is deemed promotional and biased be deleted, adding that I would change may vote if any editor addresses the issues or commits to fixing them.
Usually I would have fixed the article myself, but in this case I don't have enough knowledge on the topic and I don't feel inspired to do the necessary background work to edit it myself properly. I would appreciate your advice to know how to act in the future or change my vote if I my interpretation in this case was wrong. Regards.--Crystallized C (talk) 09:10, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- I am probably the wrong person to ask, because I seldom participate in AFD. But what it looks like to me is that the discussion started to deteriorate as soon as people started talking about personal motivations rather than the notability concerns that were the original basis for the nomination. The main problem with the article is the lack of citations. I don't think it's fair to expect people such as myself who don't speak Ukrainian to try to locate sources in that language. If you are still interested in improving the article, there might be more sources on the Ukrainian and Russian wikis. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:18, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thank you for your answer, I agree with you about the personal motivations as a reason for the deterioration of the discussion. As far as notability, I personally think there are enough sources to establish it. The remaining problem with article is in my opinion the promotional and biased language along with verifiability issues. I am no longer interested in improving the article. I don't speak Ukranian either or know much about the BLP and the article talks about sensitive and controversial issues of which I don't have enough background. My question was about my delete vote on the basis of the promotional and biased content recreated by the sockpuppets, as I think the article should not remain in its current state and I do not feel qualified to improve it. I will probably just ask the administrator that closes the AfD for guidance. Regards.--Crystallized C (talk) 16:21, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Deleted Student Sandbox Page
I am an instructor in a course supported by WikiED, with the goal of teaching university students how to create an article on Wikipedia. These students have never edited Wikipedia before and, off-and-on have struggled with their articles. As a course we are working through a peer-review process to improve articles with the goal of publishing finished articles to the main space by the end of the year. Some students moved articles to the main space early, in an effort to seek feedback from the Wikipedia community.
One student dkim5290 contacted me today that you deleted his article from his sandbox. What is the goal of this? How can a student be expected to learn how to create and edit an article if it is deleted from his personal sandbox? Please advise Skearns4 (talk) 17:01, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Skearns4. The student published the content as NOTECHS, and another administrator moved it out of mainspace, to Draft:Non-technical skills, where it can currently be found. Sorry for the confusion. There's serious copyright concerns with the material, as most of it is copied from here. We can't host copyright material on this site, not even temporarily, so I have nominated the draft for deletion on that basis. Sorry, -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 18:44, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
MetlifeWP
MetlifeWP, whom you previously blocked, appears to be active again via a previously created account, Metlifecc. Not sure if this counts as sockpuppetry or just confusion on their part. Trivialist (talk) 23:18, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
- Block evasion, sock puppetry, however you want to call it. Thank you for reporting, and for helping clean up. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:32, 13 November 2015 (UTC)
Is this upload okay
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Rajesh_Khanna.jpg
The actor is deceased since 2012. --Galaxy Kid (talk) 13:03, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, it isn't okay. We have several images of him at the Commons, so this picture does not qualify for fair use. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:31, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- If the actor's daughter uploads an old pic of her father in facebook or twitter, then can it be called free picture under Wikipedia rules? I have seen whenever an actor uploads old pics in social media, the other news websites publishes those pictures in their website. --Galaxy Kid (talk) 15:58, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa. Thank you for your work on patrolling pages and tagging for speedy deletion. I'm just letting you know that I declined your deletion request for Swire Hotels, a page that you tagged for speedy deletion, because the criterion you used or the reason you gave does not cover this kind of page. Please take a moment to look at the suggested tasks for patrollers, criteria for speedy deletion, and particularly, the section covering non-criteria. Such pages are best tagged with proposed deletion or proposed deletion for biographies of living persons, or sent to the appropriate deletion discussion. Thanks! VQuakr (talk) 17:01, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- The article has already been deleted twice, once as A7 and once as G11. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 17:05, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
Recently deleted article
Hello Diannaa. You recently deleted article Marion Gilmore for Unambiguous copyright infringement (On Nov 12 @ 15:01). I feel the artist is entitled to a WP article and should not be denied that opportunity because of any fault on my part. Is it possible for me to repair the problem. In spite of claims by other editors, I am not a plagiarist. Not intentionally anyway. Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated. Buster Seven Talk 17:31, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- Also article Minette Good on Nov 12 @ 10:05. Thank you. Buster Seven Talk 17:40, 14 November 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Buster7. There's no reason why you couldn't start over and write copyright-compliant version of the articles. Sources for Marion Gilmore:

(talk page stalker) @Buster7: I see that an artwork by Marion Gilmore is mentioned on the Smithsonian American Art Museum website. I could recreate the article myself, but that. would. be. simply. the. wrong. thing. to. do. Would you like me to email the text of the deleted article to you so you can work on it offline? The image, which you deleted but then which another administrator undeleted, is re-nominated for deletion. I invite you to FFD discussion. --George Ho (talk) 19:41, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
One thing: you are not going to re-delete it, are you? --George Ho (talk) 19:46, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, I will just make a comment at the deletion discussion. Thanks for letting me know. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 19:49, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Alakzi
You mean like this "polite" discussion? It was specifically because of the discussion with HighInBC that I didn't respond to Alakzi's questions after I blocked him. Alakzi transformed any potentially constructive discussion into a circular, denying, wikilawyering exchange, for which I would not have the patience.
As for Supdiop, the comments about clueless came in response to some of the twisted things Supdiop said after he was blocked. Not only was he a persistently disruptive editor (who also socked more than once), many of his factual statements were inherently contradictory (read lies). God knows he had provoked admins and the community for some time now, and it's easily understandable if some amount of pique is expressed, and clueless is a relatively mild, oft-used adjective for blocks and explanations of blocks. Many admins, including me, tried to help him many times, and yet despite occasional constructive contributions, he continued to whirl out of control.
Finally, as to Alakzi. Even during this block, they accused Floq of being a "vile human being". What is wrong with Alakzi that they feel the need to lash out at administrators for what they perceive as horrible injustices, either done to them or to others? Some sort of misguided avenging angel? I'm not familiar with Alakzi's contributions, but I get the distinct impression that their content-related contributions are not only constructive but that they also help other users. I'd unblock them in a heartbeat if they'd agree to stick with that and leave the rest alone, but I don't think it's possible, unfortunately, at least not now.
My apologies for the heat, but this kind of attitude is remarkably destructive to the community and to the governance of the community. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 23:04, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

- At the risk of annoying you further - we obviously don't agree - that is a remarkably inapposite quote. Somehow I don't think Carter had Supdiop in mind when he said it. Supdiop, as a Wikipedian (none of us knows what he's like in real life), is neither weak nor helpless in any sense of either word. Anyway, I'll leave you alone now, which is what I believe you prefer.--Bbb23 (talk) 05:24, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
Do any of the images that you deleted contain a face of a person? --George Ho (talk) 23:16, 15 November 2015 (UTC)
- No, they don't. So I suppose whatever decision is reached on the one image could apply to the whole set. #5 is quite blurry though. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 00:52, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Arbcom redux
Diannaa: You gave a good reason for not running for Arbcom last year, but this year there are a lot of openings and a lot of desire for reform; I and others are hoping to get enough candidates who want it to be less of a law court and to have more situations resolved before they become Arbcom cases that the successful candidates would have less work to do on the committee. There are already some. In that light, and given that I hope to be able to support you and I am sure many others would too, would you consider running this year? Yngvadottir (talk) 01:25, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- Thanks for thinking of me, that's very flattering. I am still not interested in participating in Arbcom because I don't think I'd be very good at it. -- Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 01:37, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
- I know I wouldn't be, but I suspect you would, especially as one in a reform Arbcom. I'm going to ping some folks I trust to see what they think: Anna Frodesiak; Dennis Brown; Drmies; Kelapstick; Timtrent; Kudpung. Yngvadottir (talk) 11:32, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
((ec)):::This is a coincidence because I was going to poke Diannaa myself. It was a comment of hers, an unwitting compliment, that motivated me to think about running for admin 6 years ago. She'll have to run because if the vile PA at me on my question page at the election continues, accusing me of mysoginy and pederasty, I'll be withdrawing and she'll have to fill the gap. Hi Diannaa,
It would seem to me that the copyvios were recent additions. Would it perhaps be better to roll it back to an earlier versions and revdel the copyvios?
Your thoughts? Pete AU aka --Shirt58 (talk) 09:07, 16 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. PUF question
Hi Diannaa. I pinged you, but I think I screwed it up. Would you mind taking a look at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files/2015 November 15#File:Healthy Boy Brand Thai SweetSoy Sauce Light-red HB-2A.jpg if you have some time to spare? It seems quite similar to what you did regarding File:Cola Couronne bottle.jpg. For reference, the same uploader has also uploaded similar files which are also being discussed on PUF. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:41, 16 November 2015 (UTC)
