"Cryptids" is a subcategory of "Legendary creatures", "Cryptzoology", and "Urban legends". It is redundant to have all on the same article. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}}
on your talk page and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Again, welcome! -- Longhair | Talk 23:49, 2 August 2005 (UTC)
Hi
Would you take a look at my userpage? I could not address the whole animal fur concept, but I did address the sexual concept. I have some VERY nice pics that I want to have included in one of the furry articles. Maybe fursuit or yiff would be best suited. Please give me your feedback. Thanks. Querying revisions
Hi I'd like to query your revisions of the Skin-walker page because of: "v edits by Emperor to last version by Android79; NPOV, trivia, unrelated UFO stuff" - I added in a couple more Skinwalker films but chiefly I added in links and references in response to requests for further references. I can't see anything that would count as trivia or lack of a NPOV. Equally my mention of Skinwalker Ranch is not unrelated - it is called that because the Ute believe that some of the activity there is due to Skinwalkers. I'm unsure if part of the problem arises from the fact the entry itself probably needs scrapping and the bits moving to other entries - this is mentioned in the discussion part of the entry and it might be best to resolve those issues before you remove material that is relevant to the phenomena. Emperor 20:53, 2 February 2006 (UTC)
- Part of the problem was you provided no context for the reference to Skinwalker Ranch, just a mention that weird things were going on there. The article you wrote on the ranch didn't have much more information. It didn't say what it had to do with skinwalkers besides being named after them, and didn't add anything to the Skinwalker article. It might be relevant, but it doesn't look it. It needs more substance and polished writing. Remember, you're writing for an encyclopedia, and the writing should reflect that. --Coyoty 16:19, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
- Granted but the Wikipedia is after all a work in progress. I am adding on both entries as I discover more information - if you were unsure of anything then you could have queried it or asked me to clarify (which I hope I have now done with a couple of further expansions on the Skinwalker Ranch entry). I am still unsure why the whole entry was revised though - can we undo this revision? Then if you have any further questions/queries I'd be happy to try and address them (Emperor 17:49, 3 February 2006 (UTC))
Wikipedia is a work in progress, but it should not be left incomplete. It's not a rough draft. As far as whether the Skinwalker Ranch information is appropriate, it would be more appropriate to use Talk:Skin-walker to discuss it. --Coyoty 20:00, 3 February 2006 (UTC)
Thats exactly my point though - if you had a problem with the mention of Skinwalker Ranch was of concern then bring it up Talk:Skin-walker. You don't revert the changes. So I'll ask again: Can we revert your reverting back to how it was before and we can take this over there? (Emperor 17:41, 4 February 2006 (UTC))
No, because it would still be the same thing. Do you hand in an unfinished paper at school and expect the teacher to accept it because you want to finish it later? Write something that clearly has something to do with skinwalkers other than name association and make it read like an encyclopedia article, not a note to friends, and then add it. The people reading it aren't your friends, they're strangers who expect you to have done your homework so they don't have to do it themselves. --Coyoty 01:44, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Quick tip
You can use the {{unsigned}} template to add unsigned tags to messages where people forget their signature. So, for instance,
{{unsigned|JDoorjam}}
shows up as:
—This unsigned comment is by JDoorjam (talk • contribs) .
Cool stuff, neh? JDoorjam Talk 20:33, 14 March 2006 (UTC) (being careful not to forget my signature!)
- Thanks, that'll help a lot! Coyoty 20:38, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
WikiProject Fact and Reference Check
Hi. Thanks for your message of February 23 on WikiProject Fact and Reference Check. It took me some time, but I have now just replied to your message here. Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers. --Edcolins 21:56, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
Re: Admin software bug?
Hmm well seeing as I know nothing about the technical side of Wikipedia, and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it, I would suggest you to post it at the village pump (tech) and see what the developers etc have to say about it :) — FireFox • T [20:02, 7 April 2006]
Montauk Project
Just a quick note to say I agree with what you said on the Motauk Project talk page about the recent edits - its weird and can't be left like that. I also added some ideas on how to fix it (basically revert it and then work a bit of the new material into the reverted version - we could keep the book cover I suppose ;) ). Anyway if there is a consensus on the way to move things forward it shouldn't be too much hassle to sort it out (I just want to make sure everyone is on the same page as I can see a few problems looming). Bedbug
I normally would agree with your edit, but it's a non-profit agency that assists tenants (note: originally added by someone else, not me) -- it's not a commercial service. Seems to me it's okay to be there. Your thoughts? — WCityMike (talk • contribs) 03:09, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- It's still advertising and promotional. They way the information was provided by the anonymous editor, like a business card or telephone book ad, is suspicious. Phone book type listings are not the purpose of an encyclopedia, however helpful. Coyoty 03:21, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
I'm working on Cryptids
I noticed you were recently active on the cryptid talk page and I thought i'd come over and say 'hello!' I joined Wikipedia:Wikiproject Paranormal recently and as part of that, I've been chipping away at the Cryptid and cryptozoology areas. I've gotten very little feedback or direction on what needs doing so if you feel like pointing me towards any particlar stubs or articles, feel free to do so. A summary of my recent edits can be seen on the project talk page. See ya around. Lisapollison 21:22, 14 May 2006 (UTC)
Therianthropy article
I notice you are interested in editing the therianthropy article. See Talk:Therianthropy#Disambiguation for a disambiguation that was apparently accidentally wiped out because of all the recent vandalism. I've also got stuff on my user page about the disambiguation.Blue Milk Mathematician 21:15, 20 May 2006 (UTC)
"Deletion" of categories
Wikipedia:Categories,_lists,_and_series_boxes#Categories
An article should usually not be in both a category and its subcategory, e.g. Microsoft Office is in Category:Microsoft software, so should not also be in Category:Software — except when the article defines a category as well as being in a higher category, e.g. Ohio is in both Category:U.S. states and Category:Ohio.
"Cryptids" is a subcategory of "Legendary creatures", "Cryptzoology", and "Urban legends". It is redundant to have all on the same article. ' (Feeling chatty? ) (Edits!) 21:33, 23 May 2006 (UTC)
