Q1 Did you just pick this as a random name or do you really like the band Coldplay?
A Yes, I did pick this name because I am a fan of Coldplay.
Q2 Why did you choose such an odd name?
A Funny story. You see at the time that I joined Wikipedia, I couldn't think of a name so I decided to go with Coldplay Expert as it was the first name that popped into my head.
Q3 Have you ever regretted choosing Coldplay Expert as your name?
A Yes! All the time!
Q3 If you dont like your name, then why not change it?
A Because I have already become an established editor and people know me by Coldplay Expert, not some other random but equally stupid name.

For being able to take all the criticism you had in the past, and using it to grow. I think you have improved quite a bit over the past few weeks. :) You deserve this barnstar. Cheers! :) --Meaghanthe vanilla twilight 02:12, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just wanted to let you know I copied your edit counter to my page. Don't worry, I took your user name and replaced it with mine. Just wanted to let you know. --Lord of the Pit (talk) 20:03, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
First things first. Download this. Then type in any string of characters into the box marked "Data" (make sure the "Date Format" drop-down menu is selected for "Text string"). This is sort of a back-up password, so nothing obvious. Now, untick all of the boxes below except the one next to "SHA512" (the most secure by my understanding). Then click "Calculate". Now, copy the EXACT string of characters you typed and the EXACT number HashCalc pumped out into a Notepad file or something and put it in the bowels of your PC. Then you take the numbers HashCalc gave you and place it in this: {{User committed identity|(((NUMBER HERE)))|background=#FC9|border=#000}} You can change the colours if you want, that's just the default colouring. Put that template on your user page. That way, if your password is ever cracked, you can prove who you are through your hash key since it's virtually impossible to crack the code to convert it from a hash key back into reasonable text. if your account is compromised, tell the string you used to get the hash to a trustworthy user (probably an admin). They will compare the codes and take the appropriate action. However, this is why you have to get the codes exactly correct. Even one letter's difference can produce an entirely different hash key. There you go. Hope that was simple and succinct enough. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 23:51, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and the string that you use to convert the hash can be whatever length you want. The hash key itself always seems to be one hundred and twenty-eight characters long, whether the secret string was a single letter or forty-eight. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 23:53, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(laughs) It takes about five minutes, if that. xD --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 23:59, 1 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you truly need help, I can do it for you, but you'll need to do it over e-mail. It's preferable not to have another's help because this is in essence a back-up password, but I like to think of myself as trustworthy. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:16, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
While I Do Trust you, I meant to say, what do I do once its downloaded? I have the setup stuff there now so what else.--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 00:17, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I presume you've installed it? Trust me, I've seen so many people who haven't done something as obvious as that I try to remember to ask that first, so don't take that as an insult to your intelligence. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:22, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted the brackets. Sorry, I just used that brackets to help make the part you needed to customise clearer. And there you go. Just, whatever you do, don't lose your secret string. Otherwise you'll be locked out forever unless you counter-hack the account. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 00:36, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oseberg oilfield
Hi CE, probably best to check that an expansion is at least roughly 5X before nominating. Oseberg oil field was barely doubled by Tuscumbia and even now that I've doubled it again, I think that it's likely well short of the mark. I don't mind helping out with a final push to get an article there, but this one is starting to feel like hard work. Mikenorton (talk) 19:55, 3 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Im sorry, I can delete the nom if you want. I had a feeling that it was not long enough. Anyway thanks for the help.--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 00:01, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No, leave it for now. I'm waiting for someone to check the expansion and tell me how much more I need to add. If no-one has looked at it by the 6th, I'll try to add some more anyway to fit within the 5 day time-frame. Not trying to put you off, just asking you to give a rough check before nominating. Cheers, Mikenorton (talk) 11:19, 4 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well I've expanded it further, possibly sufficient for the 5x required. I would appreciate it if you would add me as joint expander with Tuscumbia. Thanks, Mikenorton (talk) 12:50, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for that, appreciated. Mikenorton (talk) 17:04, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Call it irrelevant...
...but I've got a brilliant idea! Has a the retirement of a user you knew well ever bothered you? Made you sad? Well, with the brand-new un-patented User:Spongefrog/Vicenarian userbox, you can keep this user's memory alive! Simply copy-paste the text, figure out the ridiculously complicated parameters, replace User:Vicenarian with the name of the user you want to commemorate, and add the date they retired on, and voila! Hello Coldplay Expert, and thanks for your work patrolling new changes. I am just informing you that I contested the speedy deletion of Smoothe da Hustler - a page you tagged - because: A charting album is a "claim to significance/importance" Take it to AfD if you'd like. Please review the criteria for speedy deletion before tagging further pages. If you have any questions or problems, please let me know. @Kate(talk) 00:45, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!
To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! On behalf of the WikiCup judges, iMatthewtalk at 03:42, 5 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Oseberg oil field
On December 7, 2009, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Oseberg oil field, which you recently nominated. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.
Hey man,
Let me introduce myself. I am Twilight's adoptee. I saw your page on her talk and was intrigued. When I saw your to-do list on your front page I immediately got a bit nervous. You see, I am in high school. Last year, I wrote an 8 page essay on the Battle of Stalingrad. Now, of course Wikipedia was not my only source, but it was a sizable chunk of my research. What exactly do you mean by saying that the Stalingrad article is not a "good article"???
Haha, I'm sorta kidding. My name's Mark. You seem like a cool guy, so...Hi! :D
Well hello mark. Me and Twilight Helryx (I call her Twilight for short) sort of know each other on wikipedia. (As in we work together on several articles) And Its nice to know that she is good at adoption. And when I say that the Battle of Stalingrad is not a WP:Good article, its not the best article on the site. However it is ranked as B-Class by the said wikiprojects. (If you what you can help me down the road at getting this to GA class). Theres nothing to be worried about. Im sure you got an A. (Wow. the last time I wrote an essay-on Utopia by Thomas More-it was 6 1/2 pages!)--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 02:23, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Number of legs on a dog
There's a famous story about Abraham Lincoln. If you call a tail a leg, how many legs does a dog have? Four, because calling a tail a leg don't make it a leg. Wikipedia is like that sometimes. Sometimes if someone is saying the dog has five legs and everyone else who's been watching knows it only has four, it's pretty obvious what's what. So when someone tells me the dogs has five legs I find it easiest simply to ignore 'em. Gerardw (talk) 03:34, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

@Jade: Don't really know. Maybe it's because I don't want the indentations to get too long? =P --TwilightHelryx 22:18, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
To be honest. I like the eye for an eye one but its your choice.--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 22:19, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Use the ← coding when it gets long then. :P And, yeah, I like it as it is. Needs to be expanded on though. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 22:22, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I myself find "eye for an eye" catchier, probably because it is briefer and well known. I just asked that because it's a fire themed article. So, do you think it's ready to be officially published?--TwilightHelryx 22:26, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Should I add a neutral version of my anecdote?--TwilightHelryx 22:27, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Well in order. No I dont think that its ready just yet. And yes you should add the neutral version. We need more than just two paraghraphs though.--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 22:29, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I just tagged the article and gave some redirect ideas for when it moves into the proper place. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 23:06, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Great Idea. Can we also user "Fire Fight"? It seems to fit in. Or is it too lnog and we already have too many ideas?--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 23:08, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm doing some very amusing with my anecdote, but I'm keeping it a surprise. Stay tuned to see how it turns out.--TwilightHelryx 23:09, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
It's ready. Some details were altered somewhat for the sake of creativity and anonymity. Please feel free to modify it. =) --TwilightHelryx 23:40, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, guys. I thought a fairy tale format would be more memorable. =3 Okay, now on to the Edit war section!--TwilightHelryx 23:49, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Just wondering: do you think the essay is sufficient enough to get away without the edit war part? Because, so far, it doesn't seem like any of us here has any idea on what to write in that section. After all, we could always add it at a later point. ;) --TwilightHelryx 18:01, 14 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you rolled back 2 versions of the aforementioned article, probably without looking at the result. Would you mind removing the vandalizm caused by User:77.86.117.43 at the top of the page? Thanks. Jared Preston (talk) 22:55, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Never! I need just as many edits as you. Look at my editcounter for crying out loud. 44% to talk pages!--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 00:37, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Just a quick note that this is the sort of discussion you should try to avoid. –Juliancolton | Talk 02:34, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
stricked it out, thanks Julian. And why do you keep on looking out for me? (please dont let this be a myspace violation. This is a real question)--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 02:37, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, from my point of view, this was relevant to the encyclopaedia. I'd gone on a rampage of article moving and Coldplay chipped in. This was a jokey way of telling him not to bother, to leave it all to me and to find something more productive to do (he probably saw me talk about it on my talk page, correct?). Therefore, while I can see how it might be mistaken for MySpacing (and for that I apologise), it wasn't. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 02:44, 12 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How can you help?
Do you like bacon?
I've recently become an active part of a little group project called the Bacon Challenge. Bacon Challenge 2010 is basically a bacon-fest – the goal is to create and expand articles about or relating to bacon, and if possible getting them to DYK, GA, or FA. The same thing goes with pictures uploaded (one photo that I uploaded, for instance, was File:Pig candy.jpg). (I recommend that with any pictures you upload, use Flickr upload bot over at Wikimedia Commons - it's the only sure-fire way I know of that prevents any possible copyright violations from occurring.) There's also a Bacon WikiCup accompanying the Bacon Challenge.
To sign up, just click Of course, you may ask me for help, though I would personally recommend that you direct help queries to the Bacon Challenge's proprietor, ChildofMidnight (talk· contribs). Cheers, Dylan620 (contribs, logs) 02:59, 15 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If people think you're a single-purpose account, then why don't you get a name change? --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:47, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Because I dont really care what other people think about my name. I know that im not a SPA; thats good enough for me.--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 17:11, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Fair enough, though I would have thought it would be nice not to have to counter accusations like that. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 17:12, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
If someone has an accusation..I ill just tell them what I always tell people. It was a good idea at the time but not ist not. I dont really want to change my name. Oh well. I think that thats a good reply dont you? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coldplay Expert (talk • contribs)

Coldplay, that's the point. SuggestBot sends you to articles that you haven't edited but are somehow connected to things you've edited. December21st2012Freak got the same page (along with a few other... interesting ones) and thinks it had to do with editing this page. Go and leave some feedback on the talk page. --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 16:06, 18 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Coldplay Expert! I just wanted to let you know that I have declined your speedy deletion of Lincoln Consolidated Schools. There is enough context to identify the subject, especially with the website link in the article. If you feel it is not notable, or there is some other reason why the article is not appropriate, please consider an alternative CSD, PROD the article, or nominate it for AfD. Thanks! i love coldplay, did u just pick this as a random name and has nothing to do with the UK band, Coldplay or u really like the band? I like yellow, trouble, and etc from all their albums. --Huik01 (talk) 03:09, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
(I get this all the time) No its a real name based off of the band. (See my userpage) I do like the band. (However I shouldnt have made my name Coldplay Expert) Most people just call me CE or Coldplay. I answer to both. Thanks for asking though!--Coldplay ExpértLet's talk 03:12, 28 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
