- I saw that your name on the Indian wikiprojects. Your userpage said you knew vietnamese. So I thought I'd ask if you could translate since it was sort of Indian and vietnamese related. If there are any other Hindu temples in Vietnam articles, please translate the. If you want, you could also expand Champa. Hinduism in Vietnam could also use an expansion.

- I'm looking into it. Sorry, seems like I've caught myself into a moderation of a messy personal attack campaign on some Indian religious articles, I was mentioned in a bogus arbitration case (though not named as a party), and also had to resign from Esperanza, and reply to a complaint as to my comment on an RfA. Esperanza with out you
Blnguyen, I was really sorry to see your comments on the esperanza talk page (i'm posting here in case you wish to leave quitley, as Redvers did a while back). I know that on the talk page we disagreed, but that doens't mean that I don't have lots of respect for you and think that you're a great, kind, committed user. I for one am sorry to see that you thought it best to leave Esperanza, and I would love to see you back, if or when you feel you would want to come back. And if you do start up a project with the ideas about protection and help you outlined on the talk page, I would be glad to help you with it.
I really do look up to editors like you, those who are so committed and good at making this project better, and I really hope that you know that I don't think you were trying to push POV, as I hope you know I wasn't. We were just both being bold in our edits, and had conflicting views. I am sorry if I was the main cause for you leaving, because Esperanza needs good, caring editors like you, and more importantly, I think you're a good person.

Hello there, I'm curious as to why you deleted the Connecticut state seal. It is clearly public domain since it is over 400 years old. It seems a bit hostile to delete an image instead of simply changing the licence. Páll (Die pienk olifant) 14:42, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
A sad day
Blnguyen, my friend, I'm so sorry if I've caused you to leave Esperanza! (A fat lot of good I'm doing as AG so far). It was never my intention to alienate you, and I never felt like I was being undermined - nor should it have mattered anyway! You were letting us know your opinion, and should not feel attacked for it, and I'm very sorry that you do, especially if I've caused it in any way. I never meant for my comment to cause you to think that you were undermining Esperanza or weren't wanted here, because that's simply not true. I was attempting to help and diffuse the situation, though it seems I've just made it worse. You have always been a model Esperanzian, going above and beyond the rest of us in recognizing quality editors and brining them some happiness. I am so sorry that you are leaving, and hope that you may reconsider. And if not reconsider, at least except my most humble apologies. Your friend always, -- Natalya 16:50, 21 July 2006 (UTC)

Pronounciation of Duong Trieu Vu
I like the idea of a pronounciation sound file for a Vietnamese name. Do we have one for Nguyen, which I assume is your surname? Kimchi.sg 10:01, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
By the way, I cannot find the Duong Trieu Vu picture (Image:DuongTrieuvu.jpg) anywhere on [5] and it was not being used to illustrate a music video, so I tagged it with {{nsd}} and {{nrd}}. Sorry I made that template in midle of the night! I will correct it now!--Alexandru Busa 09:27, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
- I'd still say that the Ruslana entry is misleading as all the songs were selected irrespective of what the artist's attitude to appearing was, and I don't think that she was selected and refused her song also. Blnguyen | rant-line 02:44, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello BigHaz. Can you look at this template that User:Alexandru Busa created please? I think that Alexandru is a big Ruslana fan judging by his contribs and the POV is shown in this template. AFAIK, the 14 most popular songs were selected irrespective of whether the artist was dead (Domenico Modugno), in seclusion/refused (ABBA and France Gall), so I feel that Alexandru gives us the impression that Ruslana snubbed the show when she was in fact not selected for the show. I feel she should not be there as she was not even selected and I think the template gives us the false impression that she was...unless I'm wrong and she was selected and refused them permission to use her song...Blnguyen | rant-line 02:55, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
- It certainly looks that way to me. A reading of the article would of course show that Ruslana wasn't involved in the show, but the template itself seems a trifle POV as written. I'd make the following changes to it:
- Not all the "participants" participated anyway - Nicole, Celine and Cliff were physically not there (Celine didn't even do a prerecorded message as far as I remember) and Domenico is of course dead and thus couldn't do anything
- The middle category should be reworded to something less ungainly in English - I know what it means and so do you, but the average punter probably won't
- The final category is superfluous - France Gall and ABBA are already mentioned and Ruslana wasn't involved at all. If all non-participants are eligible for that list (they shouldn't be, but the presence of one of them suggests that they could be), we'd have one of the largest templates in history.
If Alexandru does have proof that Ruslana was selected but turned them down (I can't find any with a quick skim around the net, and it seems odd since she then appeared at Best of Eurovision AFAIK), then we'd need that category to cover every winner - and possibly every participant who was selected but turned them down. I don't know about you, but I'd be hoping there was a central repository of names on this one if we went down that road. BigHaz 03:44, 21 July 2006 (UTC)
Hello again,
I know from sure sources that Svante Stockhelius called Ruslana and invited her to perform some seconds of her song playback (like Helena paparizou and Sertab Erener) but she refused because she wanted to perform her entire song LIVE. If you saw Congratulations maybe you remember that they didn't show a video with Ruslana like they showed with all the winners of ESC. Do you remember that petition of Ruslana's fans???
Sorry if I'm jumping the gun here, but I just saw the comments that Alexandru (presumably) left on your page here about the sources to do with Svante inviting Ruslana to give her permission for some of her song to be performed. In order to pre-empt you asking me if I know anything about it, which I rather thought you might, here's my take on it:
- Obviously if these sources can be cited, they trump anything I say here
- As far as the petition he mentions, I've certainly never heard anything about it and I keep my ear relatively close to the ground when it comes to the ESC. Certainly in the leadup to the special, I never heard anything about a petition about this or that thing.
- I have the special on tape and will re-watch it at some point to confirm my suspicions, but certainly as broadcast in Oz it didn't have this montage of winners he mentions.
- Even if what Alexandru claims is in fact true, there's the world of difference between having a few seconds of the song played as part of a montage and having the song played with full orchestra and dancers as one of the 14 greatest entries. If we want to identify every single performer featured in a montage, I guess we could, but it'd be a massive template. As currently written, there is a strong implication that Ruslana was in fact named in this top 14 - which can only be POV if the only issue up for debate is whether or not she had her song played briefly in a montage. BigHaz 11:49, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
- Svante (in his capacity as the EBU chief - his smiling face turns up at least in the final of the ESC2004, can't think of any other appearances) may have been responsible for signing off on the final vote counts and things, but I doubt he has the power to invite or uninvite performers. Truyện Kiều recitation
I listened to your recitation and had several problems with it. Firstly, it's done by a male in a Southern accent, not very apt for this poem. However, what made it unacceptable to me was that it sounded like somebody was just reading the poem word-by-word, and was not pausing at the right places (it sounded like you recorded each word individually, then pieced them together). I feel that leaving that clip there will give the reader a bad impression of the poem. DHN 01:42, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- Ok, sorry, that was me, and yes, unfortunately, I would like to be able to speak English, Vietnamese and French in the proper orthodox accents, which I can't do. Also I did record it continuously, but I don't think I understood the trhythm properly. Should I proceed with the recitations for the people, towns and provinces, etc?:(. Possible revert war brewing on 2002 Gujarat Violence
- User Hornplease is trying to make POV edits aggressively. It's not a problem yet but could degenerate into a revert war. I have provided reasons for my previous edits (to which I have reverted) on his talk page [6], but I believe that he will refuse to listen. Converts to Hinduism
User:Bakasuprman has been making a few edits repeatedly that are very difficult. In particular, he has edited the 'converts to Hinduism' category to include Andre Beteille, which he has repeatedly reinsterted without citation; and Tillakaratne Dilshan, who converted to Buddhism. When I have pointed out that conversion to Buddhism is not the same as conversion to Hinduism, and that he should justify his edits on the talk page before he reinserts them, he continues to revert without further explanation. Can something be done? Hornplease 22:43, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Use of abusive terminology Paki variant Pak
User Subhash Bose has been testing the limits of civility. In the section below he uses the word Pak very similar to the derogatory word Paki to name some users including me.[7] You might want to see what Paki means [8] His contention would be to say that he wrote Pak and not Paki but the way it has been used repeatedly is clear.Secondly, I dont belong to that nationality - to be ascribed one , this is a racist slur and in the UK could possibly land one into prison.I condemn the leeway accorded to him to continually harass other editors . Also, I have strong reasons to suspect Bakasuprman and Subhash Bose to be sock Puppets or acting in concert. Lkadvani 15:25, 30 July 2006 (UTC)

Advance notification: Request for later arbitration
Hi,
I'm writing to you because you have been objective and unbiased in many matters on wikipedia in the past and I trust your judgement. I believe that I am being harassed by an admin who is abusing his powers to make POV edits on the articles on Michael Witzel and the California Hindu Textbook Controversy (he has admitted that he is a student researching such issues and so has a partisan bias on this matter). He has threatened me with blocks and bans and, based on his past history, may do so very soon. Right now, he has only made empty threats in my talk page, so i's not a problem. However, if he blocks me, then I request you to arbitrate this issue. I am informing you in advance because I will not be able to contact you if I am blocked by this admin. His name is dbachman and his user page is : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dbachmann.
The threats are on: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Subhash_bose#Michael_Witzel
His accusations are baseless as all my edits are directly quoted from references I have cited.

The heading says it all, really. I try my best. Stifle (talk) 02:36, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Barnstar
Thanks for the star. I haven't been doing it for a while because it's not the most fun job on Wikipedia but I may return to it now. Cheers. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 02:38, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Thank you for the notice. That's all I ask for. User:Zoe|(talk) 03:04, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Shooting stars!
I'm quite curious to know which edits you noticed, but I must admit - that was a very nice surprise - thank you! :-) --HappyCamper 03:19, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Userpage reversion
Ay, thanks for the fix. I didn't even see it :) Teke 04:17, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Barnstar thanks
Many thanks for the barnstar—only the second I've received with respect to actual Wiki work!
I was especially happy to create the golf, ice hockey, and tennis portals, inasmuch as they permitted me blank slates on which to foist my obsessive and perfectionist tendencies, which tendencies don't auger well a Wikipedian in any case—how else to explain that, instead of going to the gym as I ought, I edit portals for hours and hours (which editing, incidentally, does not improve one's abs; who knew?)? Thanks once more, and, as should go without saying, many compliments on your continued work at Portal:Swimming. :) Joe 05:40, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
Re: your message
Re your message: You're welcome. I'm always happy to help out a busy admin who always seems to be there when a user block is needed. By the way, your user page photo is one of my favorites. -- Gogo Dodo 06:46, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
