Service awards proposal
I noticed that you are participating in the 2010 WikiCup. I have been working on the Bolognia push which is a project to make sure Wikipedia has an article (or redirect) on every know cutaneous condition. With that being said, there are still many cutaneous condition stubs to be made, and Bolognia could be a source for a lot of DYK articles, etc. Therefore, I was thinking maybe we could help one another... a competative WikiCup that also serves to improve dermatologic content on Wikipedia. I could e-mail you the Bolognia login information if you have any interest? ---kilbad (talk) 03:19, 12 January 2010 (UTC)
Quick question...
I hope you don't mind me asking (I know I could dig through your archives and find the answer myself, but...) I noted that you have a "lynched admin" status ... what the heck happened? (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 21:28, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
In my screen this looks to be really messed up by User:Marcus334. Can you take a look and work accordingly as this is an article you have had an interest in, in the past. Is this one of the articles we worked to good article? Thanks for looking into this, as maybe my screen looks at this article a little different (for whatever reason).--Doug Coldwell talk 21:59, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Compare to my version of 20:28, 23 January 2010 and see which layout looks better to you.--Doug Coldwell talk 22:38, 23 January 2010 (UTC)
Compare also my version of 23:07, 24 January 2010 and see which layout looks better to you. I'm trying to get it to look good with good natural text flow, howerver User:Marcus334 leaves large white spaces just to get the picture to match EXACTLY with the text, which I feel is not necessary (as long as it is somewhere close). Perhaps you would like to have some input to the article.--Doug Coldwell talk 12:55, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
About the Camp Morton IN photo
The current caption of the photo Camp_Morton_1.JPGMedia:Camp_Morton_1.JPG reads "Camp Morton, where 1,700 Confederate were martyred while prisoners of war." Is the use of such a term as 'martyred' consistent with Wikipedia's goal of a 'neutral point of view?' Just for information: I noticed the caption when looking at the article on Camp Morton, where my 3greats-grandmother's brother was a PoW. I have at least one PoW on each side & am relatively new to the wiki-world. I hope this is the appropriate place for posting such an inquiry, if not, please advise.--Cmissy (talk) 16:41, 31 January 2010 (UTC)
WikiCup 2010 January newsletter
We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. We've had some shakeups regarding late entries, flag changes and early dropouts, but the competition is now established- there will be no more flag changes or new competitors. Congratulations to Sasata (submissions), our current leader, who, at the time of writing, has more listed points than Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (second and third place respectively) combined. A special well done also goes to Fetchcomms (submissions)- his artcle Jewel Box (St. Louis, Missouri) was the first content to score points in the competition.
Around half of competitors are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. 64 of the 149 current competitors will advance to round 2- if you currently have no points, do not worry, as over half of the current top 64 have under 50 points. Everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places in round 2! If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! WikiCup 2010 February newsletter
Round one is over, and round two has begun! Congratulations to the 64 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our first round. A special well done goes to Sasata (submissions), our round one winner (1010 points), and to Hunter Kahn (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions), who were second and third respectively (640 points/605 points). Sasata was awarded the most points for both good articles (300 points) and featured articles (600 points), and TonyTheTiger was awarded the most for featured topics (225 points), while Hunter Kahn claimed the most for good topics (70). Staxringold (submissions) claimed the most featured lists (240 points) and featured pictures (35 points), Geschichte (submissions) claimed the most for Did you know? entries (490 points), Jujutacular (submissions) claimed the most for featured sounds (70 points) and Candlewicke (submissions) claimed the most for In the news entries (40 points). No one claimed a featured portal or valued picture.
Credits awarded after the end of round one but before round two may be claimed in round two, but remember the rule that content must have been worked on in some significant way during 2010 by you for you to claim points. The groups for round two will be placed up shortly, and the submissions' pages will be blanked. This round will continue until 28 April, when the top two users from each group, as well as 16 wildcards, will progress to round three. Please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup; thank you to all doing this last round, and particularly to those helping at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, by email or on IRC. Good luck! File source problem with File:Pike county courthouse.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Pike county courthouse.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Hi Bedford! I'm working on List of Indiana state parks, and I'd like to know what sources you used for the park areas and establishment dates. We're half way through round two, and everything is running smoothly. Hunter Kahn (submissions) leads overall with 650 points this round, and heads pool B. TonyTheTiger (submissions) currently leads pool C, dubbed the "Group of Death", which has a only a single contestant yet to score this round (the fewest of any group), as well five contestants over 100 points (the most). With a month still to go, as well as 16 wildcard places, everything is still to play for. Round two is over, and we are down to our final 32. For anyone interested in the final standings (though not arranged by group) this page has been compiled. Congratulations to Hunter Kahn (submissions), our clear overall round winner, and to ThinkBlue (submissions) and Arsenikk (submissions), who were solidly second and third respectively. There were a good number of high scorers this round- competition was certainly tough! Round three begins tomorrow, but anything promoted after the end of round two is eligible for points. 16 contestants (eight pool leaders and eight wildcards) will progress to round four in two months- things are really starting to get competitive. Anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. You are now a Reviewer
Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, will be commencing a two-month trial at approximately 23:00, 2010 June 15 (UTC).
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under flagged protection. Flagged protection is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 18:54, 15 June 2010 (UTC)

We're half way through 2010, and the end of the WikiCup is in sight! Round 3 is over, and we're down to our final 16. Our pool winners were Ian Rose (submissions) (A), Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) (B, and the round's overall leader), ThinkBlue (submissions) (C) Casliber (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions) (D, joint), but, with the scores reset, everything is to play for in our last pooled round. The pools will be up before midnight tonight, and have been selected randomly by J Milburn. This will be the toughest round yet, and so, as ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. As always, the judges are available to contact via email, IRC or their talk pages, and general discussion about the Cup is welcome on the WikiCup talk page.
Though unaffiliated with the WikiCup, July sees the third Great Wikipedia Dramaout- a project with not dissimilar goals to the WikiCup. Everyone is welcome to take part and do their bit to contribute to the encyclopedia itself.
If you're interested in the scores for the last round of the Cup, please take a look at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Round 3 and Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Full/Round 3. Our thanks go to Stone (submissions) for compiling these. As was predicted, Group C ended up the "Group of Death", with 670 points required for second place, and, therefore, automatic promotion. This round will probably be even tougher- again, the top two from each of the two groups will make it through, while the twelve remaining participants will compete for four wildcard places- good luck everyone! We are half-way through our penultimate round, and nothing is yet certain. Pool A, currently led by Sasata (submissions) has ended up the more competitive, with three contestants ( Sasata (submissions), Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) and TonyTheTiger (submissions)) scoring over 500 points already. Pool B is led by Casliber (submissions), who has also scored well over 500. The top two from each pool, as well as the next four highest scorers regardless of pool, will make it through to our final eight. As ever, anything you worry may not receive the necessary attention before the end of the round (such as outstanding GA or FA nominations) is welcome at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, and please remember to continue offering reviews yourself where possible. Planning has begun for the 2011 WikiCup, with open discussions concerning scoring and flags for next year's competition. Contributions to those discussions would be appreciated, especially concerning the flags, as next year's signups cannot begin until the flag issue has been resolved. Signups will hopefully open at some point in this round, with discussion about possible changing in the scoring/process opening some time afterwards.
Earlier this round, we said goodbye to Hunter Kahn (submissions), who has bowed out to spend more time on the book he is authoring with his wife. We wish him all the best. In other news, the start of this round also saw some WikiCup awards sent out by Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions). We appreciate his enthusiasm, and contestants are of course welcome to award each other prizes as they see fit, but rest assured that we will be sending out "official" awards at the end of the competition. Hey, there was some discussion leading to the rules for flag choice being changed in an attempt to avoid some of the drama that came about last year. Would it be possible for you to choose a different place to represent? The rules are explained on the signup page. J Milburn (talk) 16:14, 17 August 2010 (UTC)

WikiCup 2010 August newsletter
We have our final eight! The best of luck to those who remain. A bumper newsletter this week as we start our home straight.
- Pool A's winner was Sturmvogel_66 (submissions). Awarded the top score overall this round, Sturmvogel_66 writes primarily on military history, favouring Naval warfare.
- Pool B's winner was Casliber (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured articles this round, Casliber writes primarily on natural sciences, especially botany and ornithology.
- Pool A's close second was Sasata (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured pictures this round, Sasata writes primarily on natural sciences, favouring mycology.
- Pool B's close second was ThinkBlue (submissions). Awarded the top score for good articles and topics this round, ThinkBlue primarily writes content related to television and film, including 30 Rock.
- The first wildcard was TonyTheTiger (submissions). Awarded the top score for did you knows and valued pictures this round, TonyTheTiger writes on a number of topics, including baseball, American football and Chicago.
- The second wildcard was White Shadows (submissions). Someone who has helped the Cup behind the scenes all year, White Shadows said "I'm still in shock that I made it this far" and writes primarily on Naval warfare, especially U-boats.
- The third wildcard was Staxringold (submissions). Awarded the top score for featured lists and topics this round, Staxringold primarily writes on sport and television, including baseball and 30 Rock.
- The fourth wildcard was William S. Saturn (submissions). Entering the final eight only on the final day of the round, William S. Saturn writes on a number of topics, mostly related to Texas.
We say goodbye to the six who fell at the final hurdle. Geschichte (submissions) only just missed out on a place in the final eight. Resolute (submissions) was not far behind. Candlewicke (submissions) was awarded top points for in the news this round. Gary King (submissions) contributed a variety of did you know articles. Suomi Finland 2009 (submissions) said "I'm surprised to have survived so far into the competition", but was extactic to see Finland in the semi-finals. Arsenikk (submissions) did not score this round, but has scored highly in previous rounds. We also say goodbye to Ian Rose (submissions), who withdrew earlier this month after spending six weeks overseas. Anyone interested in this round's results can see them here and here. Thank you to Stone (submissions) for these.
Signups for next year's competition are now open. Planning is ongoing, with a key discussion about judges for next year open. Discussion about how next year's scoring will work is ongoing, and thoughts are more than welcome at Wikipedia talk:WikiCup/Scoring. Also, TonyTheTiger is compiling some information and statistics on the finalists here- the final eight are encouraged to add themselves to the list.
Our final eight will play it out for two months, after which we will know 2010's WikiCup winner, and a variety of prizes will be awarded. The Military history WikiProject coordinator election has started. You are cordially invited to help pick fourteen new coordinators from a pool of twenty candidates. This time round, the term has increased from six to twelve months so it is doubly important that you have your say! Please cast your vote here no later than 23:59 (UTC) on Tuesday, 28 September 2010.

Rollback
Hi Bedford, I happened to notice that one of your edits [1] used Rollback to revert a non-vandalism edit. As I'm sure you are aware, the Rollback tool really isn't supposed to be used for that, since it doesn't give you the option to use an edit summary. Please be more careful with this in the future. Thanks, The WordsmithCommunicate 20:58, 21 September 2010 (UTC)
WikiCup 2010 September newsletter
We are half-way through our final round, entering the home straight. TonyTheTiger (submissions) leads at the time of writing with 1180 points, immediately followed by Sasata (submissions) with 1175 points. Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) closely follows in third place with 1100 points. For those who are interested, data about the finalists has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/finalists, while a list of content submitted by all WikiCup contestants prior to this round has been compiled at Wikipedia:WikiCup/History/2010/Submissions. File:Hillbillyjim2005.JPG listed for deletion
A file that you uploaded or altered, File:Hillbillyjim2005.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Files for deletion. Please see the discussion to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you. I don't have any complaints with the image itself; it's just that it's significantly smaller than another image of the same guy, so I don't believe that it's useful anymore. WikiCup 2010 October newsletter
The 2010 WikiCup is over! It has been a long journey, but what has been achieved is impressive: combined, participants have produced over seventy featured articles, over five hundred good articles, over fifty featured lists, over one thousand one hundred "did you know" entries, in addition to various other pieces of recognised content. A full list (which has yet to be updated to reflect the scores in the final round) can be found here. Perhaps more importantly, we have our winner! The 2010 WikiCup champion is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), with an unbelievable 4220 points in the final round. Second place goes to TonyTheTiger (submissions), with 2260, and third to Casliber (submissions), with 560. Congratulations to our other four finalists – White Shadows (submissions), William S. Saturn (submissions), Staxringold (submissions) and ThinkBlue (submissions). Also, congratulations to Sasata (submissions), who withdrew from the competition with an impressive 2685 points earlier in this round.
Prizes will also be going to those who claimed the most points for different types of content in a single round. It was decided that the prizes would be awarded for those with the highest in a round, rather than overall, so that the finalists did not have an unfair advantage. Winning the featured article prize is Casliber (submissions), for five featured articles in round 4. Winning the good article prize is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for eighty-one good articles in round 5. Winning the featured list prize is Staxringold (submissions), for six featured lists in round 1. Winning the picture and sound award is Jujutacular (submissions), for four featured pictures in round 3. Winning the topic award is Sturmvogel_66 (submissions), for forty-seven articles in various good topics in round 5. Winning the "did you know" award is TonyTheTiger (submissions), for over one hundred did you knows is round 5. Finally, winning the in the news award is Candlewicke (submissions), for nineteen articles in the news in round three.
The WikiCup has faced criticism in the last month – hopefully, we will take something positive from it and create a better contest for next year. Like Wikipedia itself, the Cup is a work in progress, and ideas for how it should work are more than welcome on the WikiCup talk page and on the scoring talk page. Also, people are more than welcome to sign up for next year's competition on the signup page. Well done and thank you to everyone involved – the Cup has been a pleasure to run, and we, as judges, have been proud to be a part of it. We hope that next year, however the Cup is working, and whoever is running it, it will be back, stronger and more popular than ever. Until then, goodbye and happy editing! Fair use rationale for File:James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home bust.JPG
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:James Whitcomb Riley Museum Home bust.JPG. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you..
This image has been tagged with the no rationale warning tag due to the fact there is no freedom of panorama in the United States for 3D works of art, and as such your photograph constitutes a derivative work and is not free of copyright from the original creator of the sculpture. --Hammersoft (talk) 13:10, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Amusement Park WikiProject
Hello Bedford. Recently, the Amusement Parks WikiProject was reformatted and revived. As part of this process other related WikiProjects (such as Disneyland, Herschend Family Entertainment, Universal Parks & Resorts and Walt Disney World) were also revived and have now become part of the Amusement Park WikiProject as task forces. If you would like to remain listed as a member on these WikiProjects please re-add your name to the appropriate lists at the participants page. All names currently on the list have been cleared. If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Thank you for your cooperation, Themeparkgc Talk 08:13, 6 November 2010 (UTC).
New Steamboat Page Chautauqua Belle
Hello Bedford. I read you are interested in American Steamboats and well I just created a new page for our companies steamboat the Chautauqua Belle, which operates over in Western New York on Chautauqua Lake, and was designed by someone I'm sure you're familiar with if your a steamboat fan there in Louisville, Captain Alan Bates. I have a huge collection of information about the ships history, the history of her equipment, etc, but I am just starting to use wiki and could use some expertise. (Stage079 (talk) 04:47, 27 December 2010 (UTC))
I though that you might like to know
that I discovered your pictures of the sculptures at the Louisville Water Tower while working on this project http://www.archsculptbooks.com/home.htm and am planning on using them there at least until I get back to Louisville. My folks, generations ago are here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Smyser_Memorial.jpg and also here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:CaveHill2.jpg. Looking over your user page I'd guess that we do not have a lot in common, but we do appear to have a Louisville connection. For Sure. Einar aka Carptrash (talk) 03:43, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
- As long as you credit me as the source for pictures, go ahead and use them and thank you for doing so.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 05:59, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Absolutely credit. I am going with the C.B.C. version of your name. Carptrash (talk) 16:00, 31 December 2010 (UTC)
Welcome to the 2011 WikiCup!
Hello, happy new year and welcome to the 2011 WikiCup! Your submissions' page can be found here and instructions of how to update the page can be found here and on the submissions' page itself. From the submissions' page, a bot will update the main scoresheet. Our rules have been very slightly updated from last year; the full rules can be found here. Please remember that you can only receive points for content on which you have done significant work in 2011; nominations of work from last year and "drive-by" nominations will not be awarded points. Signups are going to remain open through January, so if you know of anyone who would like to take part, please direct them to Wikipedia:WikiCup/2011 signups. The judges can be contacted on the WikiCup talk page, on their respective talk pages, or by email. Other than that, we will be in contact at the end of every month with the newsletter. If you want to stop or start receiving newsletters, please remove your name from or add your name to this list. Good luck! J Milburn and The ed17 12:55, 1 January 2011 (UTC)

Jenny Cross
Hi Bedford, can you look back through the history on this one. I have reverted the work of the recent author and warned him/her on their talk page. They are stealing a bio for one person and relabelling it as a living for a bio reality TV person. I didn't want to revert your work too. OK? No kidding
No, I wasn't "friggin' kidding". And I don't think there's any need for that sort of post. I'll admit that at 450px, the photo I appended to the article Camp Nelson National Cemetery was a little larger than usual, but not overly so. I've seen a 700px photo in another article. It seemed appropriate for that article, and at its place in the article. I felt the same about the photo I added to the Camp Nelson NC article, mostly since I thought the photo had some good background details that a reader couldn't appreciate at a smaller size. It's certainly more informative to the reader than the photo that was origianlly posted (now in the infobox). But, the issue is not important enough to pursue, and I'm not going to revert your edit. Just wanted to respond to your question. Have a nice day. Boneyard90 (talk) 03:07, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 January newsletter
We are half way through round one of the WikiCup. Signups are now closed, and we have 129 listed competitors, 64 of whom will make it to round two. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions), who, at the time of writing, has a comfortable lead with 228 points, followed by Hurricanehink (submissions), with 144 points. Four others have over 100 points. Congratulations also go to Yellow Evan (submissions), who scored the first points in the competition, claiming for Talk:Hurricane King/GA1, Miyagawa (submissions), who scored the first non-review points in the competition, claiming for Dognapping, and Jarry1250 (submissions) who was the first in the competition to use our new "multiplier" mechanic (explanation), claiming for Grigory Potemkin, a subject covered on numerous Wikipedias. Thanks must also go to Jarry1250 for dealing with all bot work- without you, the competition wouldn't be happening!
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round two is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! DYK on article you created
Four years ago, you created Swan's Landing Archeological Site; it sat as a stub until my recent expansion of it. You may be interested to know that it's now at DYK. If you'd not created it, I might not have noticed it; thanks for your work! Nyttend (talk) 18:06, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, congrats. I guess you got ahold of the nomination document?--King Bedford I Seek his grace 19:03, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
- No, I've never seen it. I'm now an IU-Bloomington student; among their journal subscriptions is one to the Midcontinental Journal of Archaeology, which published a detailed paper on the site in 1995. The only nomination form that I used for the site is the one for the Houserville Site in Pennsylvania, which was roughly contemporaneous and used for similar purposes. I've been looking for similar documents about the Potts Creek Rockshelter Archeological Site, but haven't been able to find anything yet. Nyttend (talk) 19:41, 26 February 2011 (UTC)
WikiCup 2011 February newsletter
So begins round two of the WikiCup! We now have eight pools, each with eight random contestants. This round will continue until the end of April, when the top two of each pool, as well as the next 16 highest scorers of those remaining, will make it to round three. Congratulations to The Bushranger (submissions) (first, with 487 points) and Hurricanehink (submissions) (second, with 459), who stormed the first round. Casliber (submissions) finished third with 223. Twelve others finished with over 100 points- well done to all of you! The final standings in round one can be seen here. A mere 8 points were required to reach round two; competition will no doubt be much more fierce this round, so be ready for a challenge! A special thanks goes, again, to Jarry1250 (submissions) for dealing with all bot work. This year's bot, as well as running smoothly, is doing some very helpful things that last year's did not. Also, thanks to Stone (submissions) for some helpful behind-the-scenes updating and number crunching.
Some news for those who are interested- March will see a GAN backlog elimination drive, which you are still free to join. Organised by WikiProject Good articles, the drive aims to minimise the GAN backlog and offers prizes to those who help out. Of course, you may well be able to claim WikiCup points for the articles you review as part of the drive. Also ongoing is the Great Backlog Drive, looking to work on clearing all of the backlogs on Wikipedia; again, incentives are offered, and the spirit of friendly competition is alive, while helping the encyclopedia is the ultimate aim. Though unrelated to the WikiCup, these may well be of interest to some of you.
Just a reminder of the rules; if you have done significant work on content this year and it is promoted in this round, you may claim for it. Also, anything that was promoted after the end of round one but before the beginning of round two may be claimed for in round two. Details of the rules can be found on this page. For those interested in statistics, a running total of claims can be seen here, and a very interesting table of that information (along with the highest scorers in each category) can be seen here. Photo question
I'm thinking of heading down to the far south tomorrow: I don't have work, and I've wanted to see Corydon for a long time. One question — I notice that you never photographed the Kintner-Withers House; do you remember if it's visible from the road at all? Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 03:13, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I've tried, and it looks like it's too far off the road. I was by the driveway once, and didn't feel comfortable driving that far in. There have been times I've dreamed of riding a boar down the Ohio River just to take a pic of it thro.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 04:19, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- So I suspected; I guess I'll have to settle for a photo of the driveway and the farm, similar to what I got for the Applethorpe Farm in southern Ohio. I hope you mean a boat; you might have a hard time getting a boar to stay calm enough for a good picture :-) Anyway, Google satellite view makes me wonder if you'd be able to see the house through the trees along the riverbank. Nyttend (talk) 04:49, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I dunno...Motorcycle gangs have no troubles riding hogs. :P --King Bedford I Seek his grace 06:52, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I've proven you wrong: I saw the house today, and I never left the roadway. The house is located at 37°58′28″N 86°3′36″W / 37.97444°N 86.06000°W, and the end of the driveway is at 37°58′48″N 86°3′24″W / 37.98000°N 86.05667°W, but you have to go to about37°58′35″N 86°2′56″W / 37.97639°N 86.04889°W to see the house, and that's dreadfully far away — about 3,000 feet according to Wikimapia. So the picture came out, but it's hard to see even at the best resolution, and I think your swimming pig might work better :-) On the other hand, I wasn't able to get out to Swan's Landing: the dead-end road to the site crosses Indian Creek at 38°7′32.7″N 86°14′51.6″W / 38.125750°N 86.247667°W, and the flooding was bad enough that the surface of the water was literally several inches above the bridge's deck. Do you know if you might be able to get out there at any time? The southern end of the site is at the road, so you'd not need to go walking in the woods to get a picture. Nyttend (talk) 02:27, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- It's at least 45 miles away in a place I never have a need to be near. Besides, with all the BS on WIkipedia, including regarding some of pics (as you see on my talk page as well), I'm not really interested in takign the pic.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 04:31, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- Okay, didn't know, especially since you'd gone a similar distance to the K-W House; thanks for explaining. Part of my reason for visiting these sites is scholastic — I'm hoping to do a historic preservation concentration for my history master's program, and I suspect that familiarity with specific sites would help in that. I'm hoping to get the Perry County sites at some point, so I suspect that I could go east and get Swan's Landing on the same trip. Nyttend (talk) 04:41, 4 March 2011 (UTC)
- By the way — seeing the picture notices on your talk page, I've advocated keeping the statue images, since they're obviously too old for copyright. I'm inclined to think that the other ones (especially the parrot) are de minimis, but since that's not such a clear-cut issue, I'm not going to leave that opinion at the discussions. Nyttend (talk) 05:27, 4 March 2011 (UTC)

- I dunno...Motorcycle gangs have no troubles riding hogs. :P --King Bedford I Seek his grace 06:52, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
Personal attacks caution
After reviewing our conversation on Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:Bedford/userboxes/America Held Hostage, it is my painful duty to issue you a warning for making personal attacks. Although I understand why you did it, comments such as the one you made contribute to a hostile editing environment and damage the Wikipedia community. I've redacted your comment, and hope we can leave this behind us. You're welcome to continue participating in the discussion, and I look forward to resolving the issue amicably. With best regards, Feezo (Talk) 10:13, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- I reject your warning. It is those like you who make a "hostile editing environment" and you just didn't like being called on it.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 14:50, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
- Of course you're free to ignore whatever does not suit you. But, as WP:NPA is an official policy here on Wikipedia, I must ask that you obey it. If you feel rhe need to "call someone" on something, you should do so in a civil manner. By the way, what do you mean "those like me"? :) Do you have something you'd like to share? Fair use rationale for File:Orderamaranth.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Orderamaranth.jpg.
If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Please do not attack other editors. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:35, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
- To clarify: Statements such as, "If you ever tried to add stuff to Wikipedia instead of urinating on other people's efforts, you might know this stuff," is unbecoming of a Wikipedia editor, and considered uncivil. Please stop focusing on personalities, and discuss the content, since I personally am not up for deletion at FFD. SchuminWeb (Talk) 04:38, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Jim Limber.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Jim Limber.jpg.
You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. SchuminWeb (Talk) 23:46, 25 March 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 March newsletter
We are half way through round two of the WikiCup, which will end on 28 April. Of the 64 current contestants, 32 will make it through to the next round; the two highest in each pool, and the 16 next highest scorers. At the time of writing, our current overall leader is Hurricanehink (submissions) with 231 points, who leads Pool H. Piotrus (submissions) (Pool G) also has over 200 points, while 9 others (three of whom are in Pool D) have over 100 points. Remember that certain content (specifically, articles/portals included in at least 20 Wikipedias as of 31 December 2010 or articles which are considered "vital") is worth double points if promoted to good or featured status, or if it appears on the main page in the Did You Know column. There were some articles last round which were eligible for double points, but which were not claimed for. For more details, see Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring.
A running total of claims can be seen here. However, numerous competitors are yet to score at all- please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. The number of points that will be needed to reach round three is not clear- everyone needs to get their entries in now to guarantee their places! As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 00:52, 1 April 2011 (UTC)
April 2011
This is your last warning; the next time you make personal attacks on other people, as you did at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2011 March 27, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. SchuminWeb (Talk) 01:07, 3 April 2011 (UTC)
- Now lets not abuse power here, you should not be blocking or threatening to block in this case as you are a participant in it. It is unethical. You are also subject to the rules, you should find an uninvolved admin to determine if blocking is warranted. You have been on a recent deletion spree of photo's taken by Bedford and uploaded. And given that for the last at least twenty times you've attempted to delete a file his upload, consensus was to keep, this can easily be interpreted as uncivil too. Policies have changed since those files were originally uploaded, and you should understand that the problem with the first one (or at least the first ten) was the same problem with all. But rather than do a little extra work to try and save an image, you just keep attempting to delete them. Why? A subsequent block could also be interpreted as an attempt to suppress opposition to the deletion attempts. Please reconsider your current course of action. —Charles Edward (Talk | Contribs) 02:17, 3 April 2011 (UTC)

interview request
Hello, My name is Natalia Ioana Olaru and I am a final year master student in the Corporate Communication programme at the Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University, Denmark. I am currently working on my final paper on the topic of user motivation to create content on collaborative media websites, the focus being Wikipedia. As a sample I chose the English and Danish portals. I would like to invite you for an online interview on the topic of what motivates you, to participate in editing and creating articles for this platform. I plan on doing the actual interviews in the period between 1st and the 15th of May via Skype, MSN or Yahoo Messenger. I am, however, open to other channels of communication too. Please let me know if you would like to participate in this interview and the preferred channel.

WikiCup 2011 April newsletter
Round 2 of the 2011 WikiCup is over, and the new round will begin on 1 May. Note that any points scored in the interim (that is, for content promoted or reviews completed on 29-30 April) can be claimed in the next round, but please do not start updating your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. Fewer than a quarter of our original contestants remain; 32 enter round 3, and, in two months' time, only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), who led Pool F, was our round champion, with 411 points, while 7 contestants scored between 200 and 300 points. At the other end of the scale, a score of 41 was high enough to reach round 3; more than five times the score required to reach round 2, and competition will no doubt become tighter now we're approaching the later rounds. Those progressing to round 3 were spread fairly evenly across the pools; 4 progressed from each of pools A, B, E and H, while 3 progressed from both pools C and F. Pools D and G were the most successful; each had 5 contestants advancing.
This round saw our first good topic points this year; congratulations to Hurricanehink (submissions) and Nergaal (submissions) who also led pool H and pool B respectively. However, there remain content types for which no points have yet been scored; featured sounds, featured portals and featured topics. In addition to prizes for leaderboard positions, the WikiCup awards other prizes; for instance, last year, a prize was awarded to Candlewicke (submissions) (who has been eliminated) for his work on In The News. For this reason, working on more unusual content could be even more rewarding than usual!
Sorry this newsletter is going out a little earlier than expected- there is a busy weekend coming up! A running total of claims can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. WikiCup 2011 May newsletter
We're half way through round 3 of the 2011 WikiCup. There are currently 32 remaining in the competition, but only 16 will progress to our penultimate round. Casliber (submissions), of pool D, is our overall leader with nearly 200 points, while pools A, B and C are led by Racepacket (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Canada Hky (submissions) respectively. The score required to reach the next round is 35, though this will no doubt go up significantly as the round progresses. We have a good number of high scorers, but also a considerable number who are yet to score. Please remember to submit content soon after it is promoted, so that the judges are able to review entries. Also, an important note concerning nominations at featured article candidates: if you are nominating content for which you intend to claim WikiCup points, please make this clear in the nomination statement so that the FAC director and his delegates are aware of the fact.
A running total of claims can be seen here. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. WikiCup 2011 June newsletter
We are half way through 2011, and entering the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; the semi-finals are upon us! Points scored in the interim (29/30 June) may be counted towards next round, but please do not update your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. 16 contestants remain, and all have shown dedication to the project to reach this far. Our round leader was Casliber (submissions) who, among other things, successfully passed three articles through featured article candidates and claimed an impressive 29 articles at Did You Know, scoring 555 points. Casliber led pool D. Pool A was led by Wizardman (submissions), claiming points for a featured article, a featured list and seven good article reviews, while pool C was led by Eisfbnore (submissions), who claimed for two good articles, ten articles at Did You Know and four good article reviews. They scored 154 and 118 respectively. Pool B was by far our most competitive pool; six of the eight competitors made it through to round 4, with all of them scoring over 100 points. The pool was led by Hurricanehink (submissions), who claimed for, among other things, three featured articles and five good articles. In addition to the four pool leaders, 12 others (the four second places, and the 8 next highest overall) make up our final 16. The lowest scorer who reached round 4 scored 76 points; a significant increase on the 41 needed to reach round 3. Eight of our semi-finalists scored at least twice as much as this.
No points were awarded this round for featured pictures, good topics or In the News, and no points have been awarded in the whole competition for featured topics, featured portals or featured sounds. Instead, the highest percentage of points has come from good articles. Featured articles, despite their high point cost, are low in number, and so, overall, share a comparable number of points with Did You Know, which are high in number but low in cost. A comparatively small but still considerable number of points come from featured lists and good article reviews, rounding out this round's overall scores.
We would again like to thank Jarry1250 (submissions) and Stone (submissions) for invaluable background work, as well as all of those helping to provide reviews for the articles listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Please do keep using it, and please do help by providing reviews for the articles listed there. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews generally at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup.
Two final notes: Firstly, please remember to state your participation in the WikiCup when nominating articles at FAC. Finally, some WikiCup-related statistics can be seen here and here, for those interested, though it appears that neither are completely accurate at this time. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! Can You Weight In On Leal?
Hi. There's been a discussion about sourcing the claim that Humberto Leal Garcia, Jr. was an illegal immigrent. I know you found a source, but per WP:REDFLAG I don't think that's good enough. I've spent several hours attempting to locate another reliable source that confirms he was illegal, including looking through court records. Can you please weigh in on the post recent points in Talk:Humberto Leal Garcia, Jr.#Status_as_an_Immigrant? Thanks! Sailing to Byzantium (talk) 05:19, 13 July 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 July newsletter
We are half way through the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; there is less than a month to go before we have our final 8. Our pool leaders are Adabow (submissions) (Pool A, 189 points) and PresN (submissions) (Pool B, 165 points). The number of points required to reach the next round is not clear at this time; there are some users who still do not have any recorded points. Please remember to update your submissions' pages promptly. In addition, congratulations to PresN, who scored the first featured topic points in the competition for his work on Thatgamecompany related articles. Most points this round generally have, so far, come from good articles, with only one featured article (White-bellied Sea Eagle, from Casliber (submissions)) and two featured lists (Hugo Award for Best Graphic Story, from PresN and Grammy Award for Best Native American Music Album, from Another Believer (submissions)). Points for Did You Know and good article reviews round out the scoring. No points have been awarded for In the News, good topics or featured pictures this round, and no points for featured sounds or portals have been awarded in the entire competition. On an unrelated note, preparation will be beginning soon for next year's WikiCup- watch this space!
There is little else to be said beyond the usual. Please list anything you need reviewing on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews, so others following the WikiCup can help, and please do help if you can by providing reviews for the articles listed there. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews generally at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup- points are, of course, offered for reviews at GAC. Two final notes: Firstly, please remember to state your participation in the WikiCup when nominating articles at FAC. Finally, some WikiCup-related statistics can be seen here and here. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! Tunnel Mill photos
I just came across your June photos of the John Work House and Mill. Since I hope to visit the area eventually, I was curious — during the daytime, are any of these sites typically accessible without first getting permission from the Hoosier Trails Council office? If not, is it generally difficult to get permission to enter? Thanks! Nyttend (talk) 14:03, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- I took the advantage of an open house to go see them. As I am severely out-of-shape, I didn't go far into the camp to take pictures. The main caretakers anymore are Taylor Rose Historical Outfitters, who are fanatical about keeping ghost hunters away. They'd be the ones to contact. Find them at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Taylor-Rose-Historical-Outfitters/241417365414 --King Bedford I Seek his grace 17:52, 2 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the link. Using the Clark County Interim Report, I just learned that the house itself is on the opposite side of the road from Fourteen Mile Creek. It looks to me that the house at 38°28′54″N 85°37′34″W / 38.48167°N 85.62611°W (Street View) is the same as in your photo; am I correct? Since I just want a quick photo, I'll not bother the BSA people or the outfitters if I can easily get a picture without leaving the public roadway. Nyttend (talk) 21:52, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- Yep, that is the house. Wish we could get a better pic of the mill, but then we would have to bother them. :) --King Bedford I Seek his grace 21:59, 3 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the confirmation! Since I generally don't like asking for permission, and since I'll definitely not go onto private property without permission, I often have to settle for meagre images of faraway sites (e.g. File:Kintner-Withers House from the road.jpg, south of Corydon), so it's good to know that I'll not need to do that with this place. Nyttend (talk) 22:14, 3 August 2011 (UTC)

WikiCup 2011 July newsletter
The finals are upon us; we're down to the last few. One of the eight remaining contestants will be this year's WikiCup champion! 150 was the score needed to progress to the final; just under double the 76 required to reach round 4, and more than triple the 41 required to reach round 3. Our eight finalists are:
- Casliber (submissions), Pool A's winner. Casliber has the highest total score in the competition, with 1528, the bulk of which is made up of 8 featured articles. He has the highest number of total featured articles (8, 1 of which was eligible for double points) and total did you knows (72) of any finalist. Casliber writes mostly on biology, including ornithology, botany and mycology.
- PresN (submissions), Pool B's winner and the highest scorer this round. PresN is the only finalist who has scored featured topic points, and he has gathered an impressive 330, but most of his points come from his 4 featured articles, one of which scored double. PresN writes mostly on video games and the Hugo Awards.
- Hurricanehink (submissions), Pool A's runner-up. Hurricanehink's points are mostly from his 30 good articles, more than any other finalist, and he is also the only finalist to score good topic points. Hurricanehink, as his name suggests, writes mostly on meteorology.
- Wizardman (submissions), Pool B's runner-up. Wizardman has completed 86 good article reviews, more than any other finalist, but most of his points come from his 2 featured articles. Wizardman writes mostly on American sport, especially baseball.
- Miyagawa (submissions), the "fastest loser" (Pool A). Miyagawa has written 3 featured lists, one of which was awarded double points, more than any other finalist, but he was awarded points mostly for his 68 did you knows. Miyagawa writes on a variety of topics, including dogs, military history and sport.
- Resolute (submissions), the second "fastest loser" (Pool B). Most of Resolute's points come from his 9 good articles. He writes mostly on Canadian topics, including ice hockey.
- Yellow Evan (submissions), who was joint third "fastest loser" (Pool A). Most of Evan's points come from his 10 good articles, and he writes mostly on meteorology.
- Sp33dyphil (submissions), who was joint third "fastest loser" (Pool B). Most of Phil's points come from his 9 good articles, 4 of which (more than any other finalist) were eligible for double points. He writes mostly on aeronautics.
We say goodbye to our seven other semi-finalists, Another Believer (submissions), Piotrus (submissions), Grandiose (submissions), Stone (submissions), Eisfbnore (submissions), Canada Hky (submissions) and MuZemike (submissions). Everyone still in the competition at this stage has done fantastically well, and contributed greatly to Wikipedia. We're on the home straight now, and we will know our winner in two months.
In other news, preparations for next year's competition have begun with a brainstorming thread. Please, feel free to drop by and share any thoughts you have about how the competition should work next year. Sign ups are not yet open, but will be opened in due course. Watch this space. Further, there has been a discussion about the rule whereby those in the WikiCup must delcare their participation when nominating articles at featured article candidates. This has resulted in a bot being created by new featured article delegate Ucucha (talk · contribs). The bot will leave a message on FAC pages if the nominator is a participant in the WikiCup.
A reminder of the rules: any points scored after August 29 may be claimed for the final round, and please remember to update submission pages promptly. If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. WikiCup 2011 September newsletter
We are on this year's home straight, with less than a month to go until the winner of the 2011 WikiCup will be decided. The fight for first place is currently being contested by Miyagawa (submissions), Hurricanehink (submissions) and Sp33dyphil (submissions), all of whom have over 200 points. This round has already seen multiple featured articles (1991 Atlantic hurricane season from Hurricanehink and Northrop YF-23 from Sp33dyphil) and a double-scoring featured list (Miyagawa's 1948 Summer Olympics medal table). The scores will likely increase far further before the end of the round on October 31 as everyone ups their pace. There is not much more to say- thoughts about next year's competition are welcome on the WikiCup talk page or the scoring talk page, and signups will open once a few things have been sorted out.
If you are concerned that your nomination, be it at good article candidates, a featured process or anywhere else, will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. WikiCup 2011 October newsletter
The 2011 WikiCup is now over, and our new champion is Hurricanehink (submissions), who joins the exclusive club of the previous winners: Dreamafter (2007), jj137 (2008), Durova (2009) and Sturmvogel_66 (2010). The final standings were as follows:
- Hurricanehink (submissions)
- Sp33dyphil (submissions)
- Yellow Evan (submissions)
- Miyagawa (submissions)
- Wizardman (submissions)
- Casliber (submissions)
- Resolute (submissions)
- PresN (submissions)
Prizes for first, second, third and fourth will be awarded, as will prizes for all those who reached the final eight. Every participant who scored in the competition will receive a ribbon of participation. In addition to the prizes based on placement, the following special prizes will be awarded based on high performance in particular areas of content creation. So that the finalists do not have an undue advantage, the prize is awarded to the competitor who scored the highest in any particular field in a single round.
- The Featured Article Award: Casliber (submissions), for his performance in round 2. Hurricanehink (submissions) matched the score, but Casliber won the tiebreaker.
- The Good Article Award: Yellow Evan (submissions), for his performance in round 4.
- The Featured List Award: Miyagawa (submissions), for his performance in round 4. PresN (submissions) matched the score, but Miyagawa won the tiebreaker.
- The Recognised Topic Award (for good and featured topics): PresN (submissions), for his performance in round 3.
- The Did You Know Award: The Bushranger (submissions), for his performance in round 1.
- The In the News Award: Candlewicke (submissions), for his performance in round 1.
- The Reviewer Award (for good article reviews): Wizardman (submissions), for his performance in round 3.
No prize was awarded for featured pictures, sounds or portals, as none were claimed throughout the competition. The awards will be handed out over the next few days. Congratulations to all our participants, and especially our winners; we've all had fun, and Wikipedia has benefitted massively from our content work.
Preparation for next year's WikiCup is ongoing. Interested parties are invited to sign up and participate in our straw polls. Crawford-Gilpin House
Just wanted to let you know that I've gotten a photo for your Crawford-Gilpin House article. Thanks very much for bringing up Scott County, as well. Nyttend (talk) 01:54, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- Excellent. Have a Merry Christmas.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 03:09, 24 December 2011 (UTC)
- As well, I wanted to let you know that I'm compiling an Indiana equivalent to the List of Pennsylvania state historical markers; to avoid copyright issues, I'm only using images of the subjects of the markers (rather than the markers themselves), but I'm definitely using images such as File:Jonathan Jennings gravestone 002.JPG. Thanks, and happy Christmas! Nyttend (talk) 17:21, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

Welcome to the 2012 WikiCup
Hello, and welcome to the 2012 WikiCup! The competition officially begins at the start of 2012 (UTC) after which time you may begin to claim points. Your submission page, where you must note any content for which you wish to claim points, can be found here, and formatting instructions can be found in hidden comments on the page. A bot will then update the main table, which can be seen on the WikiCup page. The full rules for what will and will not be awarded points can be found at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. There's also a section on that page listing the changes that have been made to the rules this year, so that experienced participants can get up-to-date in a few seconds. One point of which we must remind everyone; you may only claim points for content upon which you have done significant work, and which you have nominated, in 2012. For instance, articles written or good article reviews started in 2011 are not eligible for points.
This round will last until late February, and signups will remain open until the middle of February. If you know of anyone who may like to take part, please let them know about the comeptition; the more the merrier! At the end of this round, the top 64 scorers will progress to the next round, where their scores will reset, and they will be split into pools. Note that, by default, you have been added to our newsletter list; we will be in contact at the end of every month with news. You're welcome to remove yourself from this list if you do not wish to hear from us. Conversely, those interested in following the competition are more than welcome to add themselves to the list. Please direct any questions towards the judges, or on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck! J Milburn (talk) and The ed17 (talk) 17:50, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Confederate monuments
Hi Bedford--I just wrote up Ladies Memorial Association, and one thing led to another. So I saw all those Confederate Monument articles you created: that's a hell of a job you did. Thanks, on behalf of the world, Jimbo Wales, and the Lost Cause! Drmies (talk) 16:26, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
- I won't do anything for Jimbo Wales except recommend to him Dr. Kevorkian's successor, but for the Lost Cause I will do a lot. Congrats on starting that article, and I'll go look for it now.--King Bedford I Seek his grace 19:55, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
