Speed Demon (Marvel Comics)
What I upgraded was a choppy and often factually inaccurate list. Please do not get into another one of your edit wars. You have come close to being censured and blocked from Wikipedia, and I'm not sure the WPC community would want to see another edit war from you. --Tenebrae 16:16, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Avengers-45.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Avengers-45.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Blocked
I've blocked you for one week for edit warring. You've been advised numerous timed to discuss edits you disagree with rather than simply reverting, and your recent edit history shows edit warring at Speed Demon (Marvel Comics), Thor (Marvel Comics), and Thanos over text and image usage. Use the talk page to discuss such issues, not edit summaries, and do not use articles as a battleground. Wikipedia is not a battleground. Steve block Talk 10:51, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Lifted
It has been pointed out to me that you did discuss the issues regarding the image at Thor, and therefore I've reviewed the situation more fully. I apologise, I only looked to the bottom of the talk page and not the history of it. I also note discussion at Speed Demon (Marvel Comics), therefore I will lift the block. That said, given past situations, I think you need to consider in the future that you make a bold edit, and then discuss if it is reverted or amended, rather than reinstating. That may allow for a more harmonious editing experience for yourself and others. Steve block Talk 11:59, 22 October 2007 (UTC)
Squadron Supreme
Thanks for the note. On the "sock puppet" issue I am only going by what it says on [[User:203.46.189.91]. Of course, it might be coincidence that the most drastic and sweeping edit of the entry [1] was done under your IP, but given flags raised over your general editing such things can be a cause for concern. Removing the bibliography was the biggest change of the edit I reverted but it was the one you didn't mention in your edit summary. This is another issue as your summaries have, in some cases, been misleading and I notice you are making large edits to Marvel Zombies with no summary (or one that doesn't explain your actions) and the edits don't seem to be based on your discussing this issue on the talk page so editors are going to struggle to work out why you are doing what you are doing (which can only lead to further misunderstandings). Nothing that isn't fixable - see WP:ES and WP:CONSENSUS for tips. (Emperor 02:36, 25 October 2007 (UTC))
- No problem - I do think a lot of problems could be ironed out with more use of summaries and consensus and it is an angle I've been working on and it came up when giving another editor feedback recently [2] - it can just be a bit tricky saying it without coming across as condescending, so I'm glad you took it in the spirit it was intended. As I say on the other editor's talk page the big help is switching on the preference that always reminds you to add an edit summary - it gets to be second nature after that. Editing style
I would merely like to remind you that several times in the past you have agreed to use edit summaries clearly identifying your edits, and to not do huge block edits to a whole article, as that has been found to be disruptively confusing. This is merely a reminder at this time, no response (by you or others) is necessary. - jc37 14:41, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

I'm looking through the edit history of the above article and I'm seeing the same two names reverting each other over the last couple of days. That's an edit war, and that's damaging to Wikipedia as our page on edit wars makes plain. Specifically:
Most users consider sustained episodes of unproductive but animated cut-and-thrust editing to be undesirable. If objectively-minded users observe such an ongoing exchange and cannot "talk down" the involved parties, or encourage them to enter the dispute resolution process, users may request protection of the disputed article to enforce a cool down period. In severe cases of abuse, warring parties who persist in punitive editing may be subject to arbitration.
Now I'm looking around and I can see two pages protected already, this would be a third. So I'm asking myself, are we in a severe case of abuse? There needs to be some thinking about how we all approach Wikipedia. Are we here to collaborate for the benefit of the encyclopedia, or enforce our own opinion? Steve block Talk 15:05, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
Arbitration case opened
I have made a request for arbitration which lists you as an involved party. Please see Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration#Comic book characters, and make a statement if you desire. Steve block Talk 16:19, 31 October 2007 (UTC)
- I've been asked to consider commenting as I was a little involved at one point. Can you translate all the abbreviations you've used in your statement? All the AAs and FCBs and Ts and PHs are hard to follow. Neil ☎ 09:48, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
Clarification
At the arbitration request, you make a couple of assertions regarding myself, and although I may be misreading you, it appears to me that you seem to feel there may be underlying motivations behind my filing this request. I would like to clear up any confusion, as well as clarify my intentions, since it appears to me that you may be viewing this as further evidence of persecution. My intention is to have neutral parties, namely the arbitration committee, examine events and work out what action should be taken. I think that step is needed because the situation has escalated to the point where confrontation is the default position on a number of editors, and that is not good for Wikipedia or for individual editors. No editor should have to read the sorts of comments that have been made. I do not seek to lay blame, or to point the finger at any one user as the sole cause of this situation, I merely want to show that the situation has escalated to a point where it is no longer constructive for it to continue. This is why I point out your recent incivility, not to show you in a bad light, but to show how bad the situation has become. It is indeed my opinion that there is no sign at all that this hostility is going to cease without outside influence, but that is not an assertion that you are the sole cause. It is rather a recognition of the way events are unfolding. If the case is opened, the committee will examine all evidence brought before it, so there is scope to present all relevant issues and the concerns of all users. The arbitration committee will make their decisions based upon the evidence shown. I hope that clarifies some issues you may have. As to my objectivity or lack of it, that will not be an issue in determining the resolution of this case, if it is accepted. Steve block Talk 21:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Camp David
I would e-mail this to you so that maybe we could talk without others interrupting, but "e-mail this user" says you haven't registered an e-mail. You don't have to give them your preferred e-mail, of course. The Yahoo account I've listed is something I got just to register with Wikipedia. I only check it once in a long while, but it's useful for the occasionally needed one-on-one exchange.
On the one hand, I'm not party to the arbitration case, so maybe I shouldn't butt in, but then again, maybe someone not party to it is exactly who ought to butt in.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm skeptical about whether the arbitration case will accomplish much. At a glance, it probably looks like the situation jumped from a handful of reverts and right into arbitration. How could someone not already familiar with the history see what the big deal is? It's hard for anybody who has been involved in these recurring edit wars to be objective, but it has also proven to be hard for anybody who hasn't been involved to see the overall pattern of what's wrong. (Maybe you all should have provided more links to back up the points you were each trying to make.)
So . . . where do you see this recurring mess going? Things have vastly improved, but it's still a hassle for each of you and for a lot of other folks. Everyone has gotten so frustrated by all the skirmishing that it has kept them away from Wikipedia for periods of time, whether they've stayed away for days or, in at least one editor's case, months. People can have differences of opinion and even heated exchanges over them without escalation to another level, if they agree on ground rules. Realistically, what do you think will have to happen to keep these differences of opinion from leading to more blocks, more admin board notices, etc.? I think I have a better idea of how T. would answer than how you will, which is why I'm asking you first.
Yours,
"Doc" Doczilla 09:26, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
- You're both getting this message, so neither of you should feel singled out.
- So when asked what needs to happen, Tenebrae says more people need to step up and comment whereas Asgardian says he needs more civility from others.
- Re: People stepping up and commenting. Actually, so many comments have been made at so many times that it would only take one person (or two opposing people for balance) to link to the specific past discussions. I wouldn't mind contributing to the discussion, but I don't really see what I can add right now that I haven't said before. (I notice that a couple of people have agreed to arbitrate. I have no idea how that works.)
- Re: Civility. After 14 months or so of these recurrent edit wars, so often over the same handful of articles, people will tend to chalk their own and others' less than civil remarks up to prolonged frustration, so it just becomes a case of finger pointing as to who's to blame regardless of who made the uncivil remarks. Yeah, CovenantD can say some unnecessarily obnoxious stuff to people.
- Asgardian has said numerous times that people hurt their own cases when they side with CovenantD or even quote that person, but consider this: That can actually make outsiders wonder why so many people would side with somebody who can be that obnoxious instead of backing the person striving to use calmer language. Besides, calm is not always good. We need some emotive language at times. Don't let the language someone else uses blind you to that person's message. Expressing your feelings is at least honest.
- Tenebrae, you know you're ready to see the worst sometimes. Whether you're right to feel that way based on the history is a separate issue, but you can hurt your own case when you use more "emotive language" that might make an outsider ready to dismiss you as overemotional. You could blind arbitrators and other administrators to the point behind your message (see above).
- Asgardian, after 14 months in which it's been you against a continually growing "anti-Asgardian bandwagon," you're going to have a hard time convincing outsiders that you're right and all those other people are wrong. You've acknowledged that you have ego issues involved in this (and, to be fair, you've said you're working on them).
- Ah . . . I have no idea if I've accomplished anything with this. Having said that I don't what new remarks I could possibly add to the arbitration discussion, I look this over now and I'm not sure if I've said anything helpful here either.
- When I asked you both about what needs to happen, you both talked about what other people need to do and not what you personally can do differently in the future. Plus, the things you mentioned that other people need to do are short-term actions, not long-term goals. Without some real changes in behavior, it really looks like these things will end only if someone gets banned. Now, we're not talking about an anti-Tenebrae bandwagon, so banning Tenebrae won't stop this. You know who that leaves. Please do not think I'm advocating for anyone to get banned, but 14 months of feuding make it hard to imagine that these edit wars will end any other way. Is this really how any of you want to spend your time?
- Anyone who wants things to improve needs to talk about their own behavior and what they're going to do differently. Doczilla 06:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Personally, unless the person who called me an asshole (as you mentioned CovenantD said of you) had directly contributed to the discussion, I don't think I would mentioned that a third party had said that because, as badly as that reflects on the person who said it, it can make people wonder what in the world I'd done to make someone say that. I'm not saying that's fair, but it is how people often think. Doczilla 06:27, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:TheWhizzer.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:TheWhizzer.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Image advice
On Image:JLAA-1.jpg, you probably ought to tweak the wording in the rationale. It says, "Meets WP:COMIC Guidelines for a character's infobox portrait. Classic look, frontal position, full body, clear and unobscured by other character" even though the picture is not full body for anyone and characters are obscured by other characters (which would probably fall under "not applicable" for a group picture anyway). It's just a thought, given how many images have gotten deleted lately. Doczilla 01:02, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
Volume
"Vol" is one issue where I've always seen a plus and minus to every view. Since I haven't had a particularly strong thought either way, I've just waited to let other people settle that one and I'll follow whatever consensus emerges. Since you asked, though, I'll take a peek at the discussion anyway in case I at least think of a meaningful remark to throw into the mix. Doczilla 01:23, 1 December 2007 (UTC)
This arbitration case has closed and the final decision is available at the link above. User:Asgardian is subject to an editing restriction for one year. He is limited to one revert per page per week (excepting obvious vandalism), and is required to discuss any content reversions on the page's talk page. This notice is given by a Clerk on behalf of the Arbitration Committee. Newyorkbrad 01:55, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I've read the outcome. Could have gone better. Could have gone worse. You should be able to manage that, though. Doczilla 08:40, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- I hope the closure of the case will bring closure to the whole situation. Everyone had their chance to air whatever grievances they had, they've all been considered and it is now time to move on. Hiding T 09:45, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. We seem to be making progress.

Thanks for weighing in. It sounds like this might be one area the WP:COMICS regulars can largely agree on. Doczilla 08:41, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
On The Topic Of Alternate Versions
There is a HUGE to-do on the WikiProjects discussion page on just what to do about alternate versions. Some are suggesting on holding off deleting information on alternate versions until the discussion is done; something I hope you will do. You may noticed I deleted a sentence out of the Ultimate Quicksilver section; this was unsourced, unverified info about Quicksilver's closeness with Wanda that was accidentally left in (speculation is never good in any Wiki article). Orphaned non-free media (Image:Thor-334.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Thor-334.jpg.
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:49, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Revert warning
On Vision (Marvel Comics), this and this are both reversions in the broad sense of the term, since they discard the majority of changes introduced by other editors and revert to a version that is substantially identical to the previous version in the diff. I'm not finding any reversions (as distinguished from normal collaborative editing) in the Quicksilver article. Many people assume that editors on restriction are allowed to edit an article only once a week, this is not true. A reversion is distinguished from an edit by discarding most or all of the intervening contributions without making an attempt to edit collaboratively. The edits I cite on the Vision article are reversions and this is a violation. Since this is the first reported violation I will issue a warning only, but it will be logged. - You additionally did a revert here, of both image and jargon, on 22 December 2007. --Tenebrae (talk) 16:33, 22 December 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm not so sure that your 2nd instance qualifies, Tenebrae. With this edit, he changed the infobox image to a picture recently uploaded (December 21) by another editor. To my mind, that seems like working towards consensus, not revert warring. I'd be more concerned if he had changed back to an image which he had personally uploaded or that only he seemed to prefer. --GentlemanGhost (talk) 17:01, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

Energy projection question
I noticed in most of your edits, that the characters who are capable of projecting energy as well creating force fields, you only add "energy projection" in the P&A section. Does that mean force fields are part of that ability? DCincarnate (talk) 07:28, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- I realize that very few writers understand the literal meaning of the term force field, but in physics, force is not the same thing as energy. I would love to see language that would get that right without confusing those who don't understand the difference. Doczilla (talk) 09:09, 19 December 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed. They are not the same. I suppose if reaching for a technical explanation those that can generate force fields tap into hyperspace energy - a la the Invisible Woman - but this is not the same as energy projection, as this can be from any number of sources. They need to be separate in a P & A, and if they aren't somewhere, by all means go ahead and change it.

Marvel Response
I would, but some people wanted to know what resulted in Mephisto's cause upon those he has plagued, who participated in Acts of Vengeance, and a promotional image of a future I found on Marvel.com to describe Abomination's latest appearance that involves the Red Hulk. I see you have been removing the {{Thor}} template from Thor-related articles, saying they were "not approved". Blocked
Blocked: 24 hours for 3 reverts in 8 days of the {Hulk} template on Abomination (comics). [3] [4] [5] From the talk page it is apparent this is a content dispute, not vandalism, and the appropriate way to handle it is with discussion, not reverting. Since your objection is relatively broad, suggest you discuss it at Wikipedia:WikiProject Comics. Thatcher 19:42, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
