WB Map
Sure, Antorjal. png is fine. My laptop crashed, so I can take a look at the svg only after my new one arrives. Thanks, deeptrivia (talk) 17:49, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
WB map fixed
Hey, the svg map has also been fixed, thanks to Planemad (talk · contribs). So now, the locator map and the district map - both are perfect. Now, before going for an FAC, certain stuffs need care. First, there should be NO red links in the article. I'll work on some red links, please try to cover others. Then, I have doubts on some section. Especially culture needs some work. I doubt if folk culture has been covered perfectly. Let's review the section. I will also ask Ragib (talk · contribs) and ppm to have a look. P.K.Niyogi (talk · contribs) should be a great source also. Again, History needs a re-check if something important has been omitted/ something has got undue coverage. One more thing, the daughter article Culture of West Bengal is virtually non-existent! Have to work on it, at least make it somewhat respectable. Whatever we wish to say about the culture (usually Bengalis brag about their culture!) we should write there. Then, as and if necessary, gist can be shifted to West Bengal. Daughter articles are very important in case of FACs. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 18:12, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks
Thanks. I was really not aware of DYK. While going through your page I started browsing and then suddenly decided on an entry. Please see my nomination of Birbhum District for Portal West Bengal. I want to improve on that. Any suggestions? -- P.K.Niyogi 05:22, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for your note. Please keep in touch.Regards.--Iball 08:52, 9 October 2006 (UTC)

Its funny how all the actual Hindi & Bengali users compromised a long time ago and how now Marathis and Kannada(ese) are duking it out.Bakaman Bakatalk 02:11, 10 October 2006 (UTC)
Portal West Bengal
Please have a look at the Wikquote West Bengal page linked through Portal:West Bengal. Add interesting current news to the news page whenever you feel like it. Thanks for adding the pic to the Krishna Mohan Banerjee page. - P.K.Niyogi 13:00, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

Nidhu Babu/Ramnidhi Gupta
I got a book on Bengali music in my search for Ananta Das Gaswami, and it has a whole essay on Nidhu Babu. I'm hoping we can collaborate so the article can have more sources. Ashibaka tock 17:29, 11 October 2006 (UTC)
thanks!
Many thanks for your kind words. You might speak as if I'm some sorta success, but believe me there are far greater ones around here. One dude has written close to 60 FAs and another has contributed more than 500 featured pictures! Its just satisfying to work with such brilliant people like yourself from all over the world - the might of WP and the internet! If I can ever be of assistance, just give me a buzz. I'm Back! (For a Little While)
Sorry, I'm getting busier and busier nowadays. But I do make sure to watch one Satyajit Ray movie every now and then. By now, I've seen all of the following: the Apu Trilogy, Pratidwandi, Seemabaddha, Asani Sanket, Sonar Kella...PLUS Parash Pathar, Jalsaghar, Devi, Teen Kanya, and Kanchenjungha! (After seeing Sonar Kella, I decided to watch the other films in chronological order...:)). Ray's works are all really, really interesting (though of course I can't say anything less about Shyam Benegal!).
Whenever I get the opportunity, I'll try to add stuff to the corresponding pages of each film. I'm also learning Bengali (my father is absolutely certain that I'll speak it fluently by the time we finish watching our entire collection of Satyajit Ray movies). For now, though...aami maathro olpo olpo Baangla bolte paari! --Kuaichik 02:22, 14 October 2006 (UTC)

Map
I think you have done a great job in fixing up the West Bengal map. Why don't you remove the map help note from Portal:West Bengal? I also find that one more article of yours has come in for DYK. Great job done. Congratulations. Keep on going. -- P.K.Niyogi 03:54, 15 October 2006 (UTC)

One more vote for the coordinator of the Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject
Since two of the three editors nominated for Coordinator of the MCB Wikiproject declined their nominations, one more vote has been posted: should the remaining nominee, ClockworkSoul, be named as the coordinator, or should nominations be reopened? Every opinion counts, so please vote! – ClockworkSoul 17:46, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

Molecular and Cellular Biology Wikiproject Newsletter
The project main page has gotten a facelift!
|
---|
When people visit the project, the very first thing that they see tends to be the project's main page, and with this in mind, the main page has been completely overhauled. To enhance readability the various "goals" sections have been merged, and a detailed "how you can help" section has been added. To increase accessibility for more established members, the links to any resources that were in the main body text have been moved onto the navigation bar on the right. Finally, the whole page has been nicely laid out and given a nice attractive look. |
New project feature: peer review
|
I'm proud to announce the addition of out newest feature: peer review! The MCB peer review feature aims serve as a stepping stone to improve articles to featured article status by allowing editors to request the opinions of other members about articles that they might not otherwise see or contribute to. |
Project progress
|
The article worklist
|
We’ve had quite a bit of progress on the worklist article in the past month. Not only has the list itself nearly doubled in size from 143 to 365 entries, but an amazing three articles have been advanced to FA status, thanks in great part to the efforts of our very own TimVickers! Remember, the state of the worklist is the closest thing we have to quantifying the progress of the project, so if you get the chance, please take a look at the list, pick a favorite article, and improve it! |
Collaboration of the Month
|
Last month's Collaboration of the Month, cell nucleus, was a terrific success! In one month, the article went from a dismal stub to an A-class article. Many thanks to all of the collaborators who contributed, especially ShaiM, who took on the greatest part of the burden. This month's Collaboration of the Month, adenosine triphosphate, isn't getting nearly the attention of its predecessor, so if you can, please lend a hand! |
Finally...
|
The project has a new coordinator, ClockworkSoul! The role - my role - of coordinator will be to harmonize the project's common efforts, in part by organizing the various tasks required to make the project run as smoothly and completely as possible. Many thanks to those who supported me and those participated in the selection process. |

Map request
Hi! Can you please do a map for Birbhum District? The article has taken a really good shape. I saw the map of east and west Midnapur u did. A map of Birbhum would help it become a selected article in West Bengal portal. Thanks.--Dwaipayan (talk) 10:23, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
