== Ran a Mac System OS? == |
|||
Christ, you REALLY don't know what the hell you're talking about, do you |
|||
The BeBox didn't use the PowerPC until 1995. Apple didn't use the PowerPC until the same year. |
|||
From 1990-1994 the BeBox used AT&T Hobbit processors. These were PHYSICALLY INCAPABLE of running a MacOS. |
|||
The first demonstration of BeOS on Hobbit with a FULL GUI was in 1993. The first Hobbit DEVELOPER SYSTEMS shipped in 1994 |
|||
If you actually had the OS installed, you could just grep your headers for "1991". Be dated their headers only with the years they were actually worked on in. BeOS began development in 1990, was released to developers in 1994 and was released to public, on PowerPC, in 1996. |
|||
Oh, and NONE of the names you gave me are in the R5.1 credits. And wheter you did write any of the text editor or not, it was all thrown out and is not and never has been the default text editor in a public BeOS. |
|||
Oh, and it was never cloned off Minix. Whatever you're smoking, I want some. Alternate histories can be useful. |

I'd be willing to scan just about all of the NASA stuff if it's really only 500 pages or so. Do you want me to send it back when I am done? I was thinking some of the documents might be better OCR'd and converted to wikitext articles, if they are predominantly textual. My scanner can scan up to legal size. For anything larger, I have a hand scanner that scans a path 4 inches wide, can stitch those scans together for larger images. please delete my email address when you are done with it. Pedant 17:54, 2004 Oct 16 (UTC)
- pages are in the mail you should recieve them soon. Alkivar 04:18, 21 Oct 2004 (UTC)
The package of NASA material has arrived. It appears to have survived the trip well. I haven't opened it yet, will try to start tonight.Pedant 22:34, 2004 Oct 26 (UTC)
I'm stuck for a bit on scanning, the computer the scanner is connected to has had the RAM removed, I'm waiting to get it back from Kingston. They received it on the 22nd of November, so I expect it back in a matter of days. Pedant 07:23, 2004 Nov 29 (UTC) OK, I have the scanner running, trying to figure out the OCR thing. I uploaded this one file for test purposes. I'd like to convert this kind of thing to wikitext rather than keep them as jpgs, cause they get pretty big. If you know of any resources to help me figure out optical character recognition, I'd be grateful. Pedant 22:12, 2004 Dec 29 (UTC)
- all right, I have worked a bit at it,and looks like I'm started. The front page for the archive, at present is at this page on wikisource Pedant 06:55, 2004 Dec 30 (UTC)
- EXCELLENT! Alkivar 01:24, 31 Dec 2004 (UTC)
A quick note to say thanks
I just wanted to drop you a quick note to thank you for your support in my request for adminship. It was certainly a wild ride, and I really appreciate you taking some time out to contribute. ClockworkSoul 16:26, 24 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Spam protection filter
(CC'd to my talk page)
Here's the skinny on the spam filter. As you can imagine, we often get spammers in here pushing products and websites. Occasionally, they keep coming back despite repeated blocks. When that happens, they get added to the spam filter, which prevents anyone from saving a page with that term. However, if the term is added and then someone tries to save a page on which the term already exists, then they will be prevented from saving, even if they are not spamming. You can get to (and modify) the list of blocked terms at m:Spam blacklist, just be careful not to break the formatting. →Raul654 05:56, Dec 21, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your work on the Jew template
I know it's a bit frustrating now, but in the end I think it's going to be vastly improved, and most of the credit goes to you. Jayjg | (Talk) 02:54, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)

By the way I added in a bunch of academic references for the graffiti article but I didn't add much else. I wrote a paper on graffiti over a decade ago and I'm sure not even Infotrac would have discovered all of those periodicals I researched way back when. :) I'll add more to it as time goes on... —RaD Man (talk) [[User:Radman1|RaD Man (talk)]] 07:20, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Signatures
Heya. Have you seen Wikipedia:Username#Signatures? You're free to use images in your sig if you want to ofcourse, but it is perceived as unpleasant by some people (if you'd already read that and decided to anyway, please ignore this message). ----fvw* 15:43, 2005 Jan 3 (UTC)
- Yeah I read that but it said its not official policy as of yet. So I figured this might spur someone to finally get that decision made; Its meant to be slightly annoying yet not too obtrusive. That and the radioactive unicode symbol isnt as pretty ;) User:Alkivar/sig 20:15, 3 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- You're trying to force people to make a strict policy? What are you hoping for, to have it explicity allowed or explicitly disallowed? If the latter, see Don't disrupt Wikipedia to illustrate a point; If the former: It is allowed now. Making it allowed explicitly in policy isn't going to change the fact that it annoys a lot of people. --fvw* 20:40, 2005 Jan 3 (UTC)
Thanks for the heads up on the sig. I thought I had fixed whatever problem the developers made, I might be mistaken. I mean don't they look alright now, they do to me?
In any case, I don't think the use of the "Raw" setting will work on the sigs I left already.--metta, The Sunborn ☥ 23:28, 6 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Removal of QuakeAID from TakingITGlobal
I have been following your work on the QuakeAID article and wanted to congratulate you on having them delisted from TakingITGlobal's website. Based on your talk page you seem to have an interest in NASA as well, do you think you could see that they are delisted from NASA's Disaster Finder page as well? [2] --GRider\talk 19:00, 7 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- One other information conflict I came across was that QuakeAID claims to have been started in 1998, in response to the aftermath of an earthquake near Greece. The only quake of significance I can locate during the mid to late 1990s is one on September 7, 1999 (magnitute of 5.9 on richter scale) near Athens, Greece (38.13N 23.55E), which killed at least 143 people. [3]. An interesting footnote, should it be incorporated somewhere? --GRider\talk 00:46, 12 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Thank you, and thank all others.
It's been inspiring to experience the open and collaborative spirit here at Wikipedia. Thanks to all others, equally, who contributed to the QuakeAID effort. It's team work at its best, and I still have much to learn from all the spirited editors here. Pardon my ever so generic thank you message here and now, let the real thank-you be expressed in our future edits. Regards, --Godric 08:52, Jan 9, 2005 (UTC)
Nice work, and thanks

I just wanted to thank you for coming up with the idea for the The Defender of the Wiki Barnstar, which evolved into the finest (and in my opinion highest) award that we have here at the 'pedia.
Oh, and by the way (for what it's worth) I like your orange sig and the associate image. It adds a bit of flavor to sometimes bland pages. – ClockworkSoul 14:07, 10 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Everyking arbitration
I've filed an arbitration request against Everyking. Please comment; brickbats for my foolhardiness are more than welcome. Johnleemk | Talk 07:56, 16 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- Hey, you endorsed the RfC on Everyking, and as you know, it's gone to arbitration. Some of us feel that the proposed decision against Everyking is insufficient and too weak for a user who has abused Wikipedia so badly. I hope you can weigh in at Wikipedia talk:Requests for arbitration/Everyking/Proposed decision having read the proposed decision and discussion and share your opinion with us, whether it's that the decision is too strong, just right, or too weak. Just because you weren't involved as deeply as some of us shouldn't prevent you from sharing your opinion. Johnleemk | Talk 06:16, 21 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Steve Dalkowski FAC
Thanks for your comments... I'm working on finding a decent picture (I've even purchased the Topps card shown in the article :-)) - contacting Topps is a good idea but I don't know how responsive they will be. Still waiting on the Orioles to get back to me. Unfortunately, he's not very well known outside of minor league enthusiasts. Zerbey 18:40, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Colourblindness and the Periodic Table
If you're worried about how viewers with impaired colour vision will see the Periodic Table colours, you might want to check out Vischeck and see how the colour scheme looks to people with various colour vision deficiencies. I did a lot with Vischeck when I was working on a couple sites about a year ago, and found it immensely helpful. -- Chris Lawson 21:08, 25 Jan 2005 (UTC) (EDIT: just fixed a spelling error. It's "Vischeck", without the second "i".)
Yutake Ishinabe?
Do you think that it is really necessary for the Yutake Ishinabe stub to have three different templates (cleanup, japan-stub, and bio-stub)? The cleanup template, for example, is really more useful for larger Wikipedia articles that need some work or organizing and structure. BlankVerse 13:00, 28 Jan 2005 (UTC)
- I did not place the cleanup tag on the article... merely moved it to the top rather than the bottom. I only added the bio-stub, the japan stup was there. User:Alkivar/sig 03:21, 29 Jan 2005 (UTC)
Greetings. I just started the Wikipedia:Image recreation requests project, and I thought you might be interested. Your help would be greatly appreciated. (I got your name from the list at Wikipedia:Wikipedians/Graphic Artists.) Best regards, – Quadell (talk) (sleuth) 03:10, Jan 30, 2005 (UTC)
