Since WikiProject Women as proposed at the IdeaLab may take some time to realize, and based on a discussion on the proposal's talk page, I have started a test Kaffeeklatsch area for women only (cisgender or transgender, lesbian or straight). |

It is a place where women can go and be sure they'll be able to participate in discussions without being dominated by men's advice, criticism, and explanations. If interested, your participation would be most welcome. Lightbreather (talk) 23:06, 16 January 2015 (UTC) |

Hello, I heard about your project on twitter. I have started a number of pages about 16th-century Scotland. This one, burning of Edinburgh (1544), mentions a discrete collection of books in National Library under 'Looting.' I wonder if you think a picture of these books, or of their inscriptions could be added to wikicommons for this article, or indeed future articles about the Norris of Speke family. Similarly, articles like this, Mariotta Haliburton, quote from letters in the library, and so it might be possible to get images of the signature of personalities like hers. Is this beyond your remit? 15:52, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- Hello! This is absolutely within my remit - I don't know the collections well enough myself to be able to confirm yes or no, but will absolutely put some enquiries throughout staff at the NLS who would know more about these items within the collection and what their possibility of release is. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, and I will ask around this month to see what I can find out. I'd point out that it's a busy month though, so if you don't hear anything in the next couple of weeks, give me another ping as I may have gotten a bit distracted and I am keen to get as many relevant items released as I can, especially if they can be added to specific articles! I would also encourage you, if you are interested, to add these same points to the NLS/Wikimedia project page, perhaps under the participate or discussion tabs, so that members of NLS staff who have been or are trained in future will also see it and be able to respond. added and sorted
have dabbled in a small effort at commons re the building at G IV bridge - by any chance if you ever come across anybody who has good sources on the building of the building (sic) and the 'sculptures' on the facade - would appreciate a clue or two... sats 15:12, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello, ACrockford, and thank you for your contributions!
I wanted to let you know it seems an article you worked on, Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland, is copied from another Wikipedia page, Chartered Institutue of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland. It's fine to do this as long as you provide the following information in the edit summary:
- a link to the article you copied from
- the date you copied it
You can do this now by , making any minor edit to the article, and adding the above information into the edit summary.
If you're still not sure how to fix the problem, please leave a message at the help desk. It's possible that I made a mistake, so feel free to remove the tag I placed on the article.
Thanks again for helping build the free encyclopedia!Template:Z126 MadmanBot (talk) 17:04, 5 November 2013 (UTC)

June 8 Meetup
I'd love to come, but I have a somewhat packed day; any idea how late the meetup's likely to last? Because I probably can't come before 4. Adam Cuerden (talk) 05:24, 27 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'm not sure - if past meetups are anything to go by they can go until about 5 but I suppose it depends on how many people show up and how long they are able to stay! Would you be near enough that you could stop in without going out of your way? Otherwise we should try and find a way to let you know if we'll still be around. ACrockford (talk) 01:04, 28 May 2014 (UTC)
- I'll be up at Ferry Road, so I can probably make it over easily enough. Adam Cuerden (talk) 06:43, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
- Okay! Also knowing that you wouldn't be there before 4, I can stick around even if others have to go. ACrockford (talk) 14:01, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

Pleasure working with you :)
Hi Ally, Just wanted to let you know that I've truly enjoyed working with you on arrangements for the Wikipedia Education Collaborative's next meetup in Edinburgh. I've no idea where we'd be without you! Also wanted to say that I like your copyeditor and researcher badges from The Wikipedia Adventure. Almost makes me want to return to the mission to get those myself! :) All the best, Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 22:44, 29 July 2014 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland
The article Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals in Scotland has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- No evidence of meeting WP:NOTABILITY
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Boleyn (talk) 20:06, 9 August 2014 (UTC)

University of Edinburgh: Wikipedia Teaching Assignments in the School of Social and Political Science
Hi Ally, This semester (Sept-Sec, 2014) have a class of 30 MSc students (Rethinking Development Economics) who have just completed a 1000 writing assignment - that involves them writing a wikipedia entry. I am now trying to run a short lunchtime workshop to encourage people to upload them to wikipedia. It would be great if we could invite you to come and talk to them, or even help run a brief training session. It would be great if we could use this as a pilot for other courses/colleagues across the School of Social and Political Science. Please send me an email or give me a call (numbers on my homepage: www.sps.ed.ac.uk/cross)

- Hi Jamie - sorry not to get back to you sooner. This weekend was EduWiki and Train the Trainers, and I'm in London this week until Thursday night. I'll try and send you an e-mail today, but otherwise I'll be in touch on Monday if that's not too late? ACrockford (talk) 16:13, 5 November 2014 (UTC)
