User:Greenock125
Hi Stewart, There is no doubt now as to whether User:Greenock125 is reading his talkpage or not, as he is deleting comments on his talkpage that he does not like; and it strongly appears that none of the images are his. The Geograph ones that I have looked at do have Creative Commons Licenses; and they appear to be correctly attributed in wikipedia to the photographer(s). Some are from Wiki Commons; and others appear to be from RAILSCOT and these are not covered by Creative Commons Licenses. A pity, Greenock125 appeared to be doing a good job, apart from not understanding copyright licensing; now I'm having difficultly working out why he is so insular. I see that User:Signalhead is also keeping an eye on Greenock125.Pyrotec (talk) 20:55, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
You know, I have a sneaking suspicion that User:Greenock125 ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs) might be yet another account of our friend 'Farlack'. Consider the evidence:
- Username ends with a number.
- Obviously based in Scotland.
- Obsessed with providing photographs for railway station articles / gets angry when such photographs are removed.
- Failure to use the 'preview' button.
- Messes up templates.
- Blanks or doesn't respond to warnings on talk page.
User:Rydo12345678 ( | talk | history | links | watch | logs) could be him as well. Signalhead (talk) 15:36, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Stewart. I very recently edited this disambig page and added a few more stations. I see that a template will follow later. Just a comment, all the stations on it are passenger stations (more precisely passenger stations that may or may not have had an attached goods station). There were a few goods only stations: Paisley Greenlaw goods (G&PJR) was one, but there were others. Sorry if this messes up your progress: I assume the template was only going to cover only (passenger) stations? I'm not sure whether there is enough material to do individual goods-only station articles - this probably would be original research (which is not allowed in Wikipedia), but should we ignore their (previous) existence?Pyrotec (talk) 21:33, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- Template still in production, however I will upload the current work. --Stewart (talk) 21:35, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- Template added, but Paisley and Renfrew Railway still to be added. Not sure about Dykebar, Glennifer and Stanley - possibly they should be not be there. --Stewart (talk) 21:56, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
- They were part of Paisley's urban railway network - even if they never had any paying passengers; and they are part of Paisley.Pyrotec (talk) 16:14, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

- Re the cross-edit, I was wondering how you managed to edit my change to the template so quickly. I like your version better as you have included Paisley Greenlaw goods. My suggestion now would be to place Paisley Hamilton Street above Greenlaw Goods, which means that Gilmour street either needs to move up a row, or one column across (or both). But I'm will not be doing any more work tonight.Pyrotec (talk) 22:41, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
pbdr stations
Thanks for all your help. Wikipedia can be a real fankle.
There was a discussion on the PBDR and it was agreed that we thought Foxbar station never existed despite it being mentioned on railscot. Neither Wham nor Gammel mention it. I asked on a local forum and no one had heard of it despite knowing about Glenfield and Stanely. I think it has been confused with Stanely which is in the Foxbar housing scheme. The discussion is at the bottom of this page.

pbdr stations
Cheers. I will edit the other stations later. I am doing this because I asked permission to use these wonderful old photographs and it's good to have them linked from Wikipedia although I wouldn't upload them directly because I wouldn't know how to get through the copyright minefield.

Thanks, creating the stubs is at least half the work.

Hi Stewart, Thanks for your note. I have commented further on the WCML talk page. The article is far from perfect, as it fails the test of verifiability due to lack of references; but I reject the description of it as some made-up romantic notion of how it used to be in the glory days of steam? I would like to see the article improved - by adding inline citations - and am willing to contribute. If that editor wants to make an article on Network Rail Route 16 then he is entitled to do so; but not by destroying the existing WCML article.Pyrotec (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 19:17, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Highland Railway Review
- Request to Dreamer84, Pyrotec and Simply south (on 29/30 December 2007)
I think we now have a complete set of articles for the Highland Railway. Some are still stub articles, but this is a milestone completed. This evening I have trawled through all the articles and templates. One thing I started doing recently is adding sources to the templates.
My working table of lines that became part of the Highland Railway will help.
There are also other associated lines (worked by the Highland Railway). This second table also includes the Cromarty and Dingwall Light Railway for completeness.
I have also adjusted the Template:Historical Scottish railway companies to reflect the worked by companies.
Your review of this would be much appreciated.
The CR, G&SWR and NBR will take quite a bit longer to reach the same state. I will see if I can make major inroads into the GNoSR lines over the remainder of the holiday period.

Hey, sorry for the late reply not been on here much lately. Don't really have much more to add beyond what Pyrotec and Simply south have said, its all good work. My only related concern is that Template:Historical Scottish railway companies is perhaps starting to look a little bloated. Not sure what the answer would be, aside from splitting them into seperate templates for each 'big' company, but then the new categories such as [[Category:Glasgow and South Western Railway]] cover that pretty well. --Dreamer84 (talk) 11:27, 11 January 2008 (UTC)

OK. It's not an area I know well, but I have a copy (unopened) of Vallance (4th Ed, 1985)) and Heap & van Riemsdijk, so I'll work my way through them. I'm back at work on Wednesday, so not much is going to happen over the next few days, but I'll do a bit at a time.Pyrotec (talk) 23:51, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

- I'm not really sure what to give as a review. Here is a starter. It would be good if the History sections in many were not just given as chrnological lists and there was more text and expansion on these points. It may be good to also reference the books in the text as well as giving them at the end. Also, don't just use Railscot as a source, use others as well. Maybe on the lines talk about current and future uses, if any.
- It looks good that you've compiled all\most of the branches.
- I wish i knew more on Scottish rail history! Simply south (talk) 17:45, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- Response
- Thanks for this - now the stub articles are in place I hope this will act as a catalyst (not just for myself, but others) to improve the articles (especially the history sections). One thing I have found is that RAILSCOT is not 100% accurate; however Jowett does have its own errors with junctions / lines not always shown.
- Any help you can provide will be very helpful --Stewart (talk) 18:03, 31 December 2007 (UTC)

- Looking at a fellow project, i have found a cite template which may be good {{cite book}} which has all the usual parameters. If not, then use the harvard system. Simply south (talk) 21:14, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
User:Fila3466757
Thanks for your message on my talk page about User:Fila3466757 and socks, sorry to be so slow to respond, I've been a bit snowed under. The various similar pages suggest sockpuppetry, you could consider filing a Suspected sock puppet report or possibly a Request for checkuser. There don't seem to be many warnings on the talk pages, it will help if, whenever appropriate, you can add warnings, possibly using the templates from WP:VAND or making appropriate reference to WP:DE. If disruption gets excessive, file a report at WP:AN/I. Again, sorry that I don't have time to go into detail on this just now, all the best, ... dave souza, talk 13:13, 5 January 2008 (UTC)

- Your previous response to a query from Admin User:John indicates that you are using multiple accounts. Please read notes for the suspect for further information. --Stewart (talk) 21:39, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
If you did this, why did you revert this railway station????????? Alresford and Winchester are open and why does it say they are closed. Keep it open,OK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!!
- If you had taken the time to look at the revision history for this page you would have identified who had editted the page. Your reversion is incorrect as the line is closed. I have revised the page as you should have done to reflect the current information. --Stewart (talk) 21:31, 7 January 2008 (UTC)
