Constructive comments are welcome. Assume Good Faith of Editors is not. Let me explain how wikipedia works. You make a statement, you back it up with a reference. Always use good quality refrences. Editors do not pursue other editors, by try and encourage them to write better articles. The article Khaira for example would rank very low on the wiki scale. If Editors are tagging articles, it is to improve them. Editors do not own articles. Regards Sikh-history (talk) 15:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC) |

Welcome!

June 2009
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Sikh extremism, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. Thank you. At 1st. this appeared to be wp:good faith, but following the trail of edits, there is a pattern of editing cited material to say things that the sources do not say. Do not introduce wp:original research into articles. Most especially, one must not introduce wp:OR in such a way that it seems to be sourced. - sinneed (talk) 01:05, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Please remember to mark your edits, such as your recent edits to your contributions, as minor if (and only if) they genuinely are minor edits (see Help:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearranging of text without modifying content should be flagged as a 'minor edit.' Thank you. Please do not mark your changes as minor. They are not. A minor change would be, say, adding a comma... not changing a date. - sinneed (talk) 01:11, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Please either uncheck the "minor" box, or change your default to unset it. You are abusing the "minor" edit box. Those are NOT all minor edits. - sinneed (talk) 03:32, 3 June 2009 (UTC)
Persistent unexplained changes to Jat people and Demographics of Punjab (India)
You appear to be engaing in an edit war in Jat people in which you are repeatedly changing long-established content which cites supporting references, without offering any explanation or support. As such your changes appear to be original research and your persisting in them looks like vandalism which can lead to you being reported and blocked. Please stop: it isn't getting you anywhere because other editors revert your changes.
Similar unexplained changes to Demographics of Punjab (India) have also been reverted. You may have access to more up-to-date information than previous editors, and feel that this justifies your actions; indeed, it would, were you to cite the appropriate sources. However, without citations your action creates a conflict between the article's content and the sources already cited by the article; this has the appearance of an attempt to deceive the reader and is considered to be vandalism.
A more constructive approach would include any combination of the following:
- Explain your reasons in the "edit summary" just above the button you click to save your changes.
- Discuss your concerns and proposed changes in the article's discussion page. In this way other editors will understand your motives and consensus can be achieved.
- Cite reliable sources which support your changes.

Indian census: religion
In your edit summary you said "Please check the indian census link and you may see these are the valid figure". But none of the links given as references for religious demographics in Demographics of Punjab (India) works: it seems that the relevant page on the Indian census website is not accessible via the links in the article, so you can't cite them as justification for changing the article.
The link you cite in the edit summary (http://www.punenvis.nic.in/demo_trends.htm) for your change to Punjab (India) does not mention religion and certainly doesn't support your changes to the religious breakdown of the population. I've looked around the site and can't see any mention of religious demographics.
The onus is on you to provide a reliable source to support the change you want to make. If you are unsure how to do this, I'd be happy to help; just add a response here with the URL (address of the web page) for your source and I'll show you how to incorporate it. Best regards -- Timberframe (talk) 20:03, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Update: I've found a breakdown of populations by state and religion on the Indian census site, and used it to correct the articles. If you can find different figures in a reliable source then the correct way forward would be to quote them as well as, not instead of, the census figures; we and other interested editors can then investigate any differences in discussion on the article's discussion page. Please don't simply change the existing figures; I will regard that as vandalism. -- Timberframe (talk) 20:50, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Sikh Regiment
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sikh_Regiment&diff=295867056&oldid=295745004, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Sikh-history (talk) 06:53, 12 June 2009 (UTC)
- You stated I should do my own research. The onness is on editors to back up statements. Incidentaly, the Sikh Pioneers (forerunners to the Sikh LI), was recruited excluiseively from the Mazbhi Community/Ravidas as stated here.--Sikh-history (talk) 07:16, 12 June 2009 (UTC)

Comments On My Talk Page
Constructive comments are welcome. Assume Good Faith of Editors is not. Let me explain how wikipedia works. You make a statement, you back it up with a reference. Always use good quality refrences. Editors do not pursue other editors, by try and encourage them to write better articles. The article Khaira for example would rank very low on the wiki scale. If Editors are tagging articles, it is to improve them. Editors do not own articles. Regards Sikh-history (talk) 15:56, 16 June 2009 (UTC)
