Hi there Hammersfan, could I ask that you remove the link to the blog, which I presume is written by you, from your userpage? I don't feel it is appropriate to link to the blog where you say that [[User:Chriscf]] "is a fucking cock - a close minded tosser who I'd very much like to hurt by inserting a cricket bat into his rectum and twisting very slowly. Tosspot Welsh arsehole".[http://pipster4.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!67D2DB0AB34B0F73!1464.entry] Thanks. [[User:Adambro|Adambro]] 09:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC) |

Hello Hammersfan, welcome to Wikipedia.
You might find these links helpful: How to edit a page, How to write a great article, Naming conventions, Manual of Style. You should read our policies at some point too.
If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the Wikipedia:Help desk or (if you want a broader audience) the village pump, or ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!
- You can introduce yourself on the new users page.
- You can find lots more information, including open tasks and daily tips, at the community portal.
- You can sign your name using three tildes, like this: ~~~. If you use four, you can add a datestamp as well.
- Before saving a page, it's a good idea to use the Show preview button to review your edits. Also, consider writing a summary for each edit.
- The Tutorial is a great way to learn the basics in a more perspicuous fashion.
Again, welcome! Chris Roy 00:33, 3 May 2004 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Cheshire-Cap-Badge.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Cheshire-Cap-Badge.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

AfD Nomination: Maasai national football team
I've nominated the article Maasai national football team for deletion under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that Maasai national football team satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion. I have explained why in the nomination space (see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Maasai national football team. Don't forget to add four tildes (~~~~) at the end of each of your comments to sign them. You are free to edit the content of Maasai national football team during the discussion, but please do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top). Doing so will not end the discussion. Sandstein 22:55, 8 January 2007 (UTC)

Canadian regiments
Hi. I have noticed you are changing the infoboxes on some Canadian regiments, changing the "command structure" data from "Land Force Command" to "Royal Canadian Infantry Corps". Might I ask your rationale in this instance? Thanks. --SigPig |SEND - OVER 15:58, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- There may be a slight diff here. I'm looking at the Yorkshire Regiment, which is "part of" (same infobox field) the King's Division, an actual formation. There is no formation known as the RCIC in Canada; RCIC is a personnel branch (like the Military Police or Communications and Electronics). RNfldR's formation, for example, 37 Brigade Group, which in turn is part of Land Force Area Atlantic (area), part of LFC (command). --SigPig |SEND - OVER 16:28, 17 February 2007 (UTC)
- RCIC is not an administrative apparatus in that sense. "Personnel Branches were created to enable members of the Canadian Forces in related occupations to identify with each other in cohesive professional groups. These groups are based on similarity of military roles, customs and traditions." Branches are identified with individual personnel, not units; units are not members of personnel branches. The RCIC has no control, administrative or otherwise, over any of the units that are designated infantry. Soldiers are members of branches; units are not. RNfldR for example is not a unit of the branch; not even all the members of the regiment are members of the branch (the orderly room clerks, for instance, are all members of the Logistics branch).
- Side question: If a unit article was created for 36 Service Battalion (primarily clerks, cooks, supply technicians, vehicle and weapons techs, and drivers), a unit part of the same brigade as 1RNfldR, what would you put them as "part of"? --SigPig |SEND - OVER 17:46, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

French Regiments
The "command_structure/Part of" section should be the larger unit the it is a part of. In the French Army that is the brigades, not the Foreign Legion or the Arme blindée cavalerie that is only administrative and not fighting units. Carl Logan 08:26, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

- Not the American regiments, they follow the guidelines given. Carl Logan 20:17, 28 February 2007 (UTC)
- No, but I wouldn't class the Arme blindée cavalerie as a military unit, maybe we should ask the Lead Coordinator for the WikiProject Military history: Kirill Lokshin? Carl Logan 21:07, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

National Rail
Responded on my talk page. Mackensen (talk) 23:57, 4 March 2007 (UTC)
- I agree with your view, Hammersfan. This was a massive change to make without agreement. Who wants to know about each VT service that they can chang with every new timetable? - it gets close to breaking the "WP is not a timetable" rule. I only reverted your change to Euston because it left a mess, not becuase I thought that Mackensen's version is better (I don't). But we need to find a forum somewhere to debate this properly rather than engage in edit wars. Is there anywhere better than talk:West Coast Main Line? --Concrete Cowboy 13:17, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have willingly discussed the matter in numerous places. I was completely unprepared for the open hostility I encountered on my talk page, as though I'd been going around vandalizing or something. There's been ample discussion on the talk page of WikiProject Trains, which seemed to me the logical location. Mackensen (talk) 18:29, 10 March 2007 (UTC)
Why you're claiming that I've ignored you is utterly beyond me. I responded on my talk page at once and you never answered my question. You then proceeded to revert me en masse without edit summary or justification. Why? Mackensen (talk) 19:07, 10 March 2007 (UTC)

Your comments on User talk:Chriscf regarding British Rail Class 378 AfD
Whilst I do in fact agree with your view that the article should be kept, I do wonder if the siginificant contributions you have made might be clouding your judgement and leading you into conflicts such as with Chriscf. I appreicate that Chris might have acted unreasonably in your view but it is important that we can ignore any such issues and remain civil at all times. To do so is good for Wikipedia and is also good for whatever issue is being debated. Other editors may look upon your opinons with less value if you have been rude to others. It is in this respect that I'd urge you to "give a hoot about WP:NPA". If you don't do this you will struggle to engage with other users in constructive debates. Adambro 08:55, 12 March 2007 (UTC)
Crossrail
I've had two moans at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_London_Transport#Future_transport_nav_boxes, but nobody seems to care. MRSC • Talk 15:24, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
- Consensus is against adding these boxes. I have removed them once more. Repeatedly replacing them is not the way to get them included. Chris cheese 22:47, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Please calm down
Regarding the ongoing issues about Crossrail previous/next station boxes and the AfD debate about British Rail Class 378, please just take a deep breath and calm down. Remember not to descend into silly edit wars (such as that with the Crossrail templates) and also remember WP:NPA. Edits like this really don't help anyone, least of all you.
As for the previous/next templates, my personal view is that they should only be used for current services, because future services are subject to change (if they ever happen at all), and details of former services need to be clear about which period of history they are referring to (I don't like having "Disused Railways" in these templates at all). --RFBailey 00:59, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
- I would urge you to follow the advice of RFBailey, as I've previously asked. Wikipedia requires us to remain civil to facilitate the objective we are all working towards and develop a great encyclopedia. I appreciate this can be difficult if you feel subject to abuse from other editors. If you continue to ignore these suggestions, your going to find it difficult to work with other editors and your time on Wikipedia will be just one conflict after another. If you are struggling, perhaps you should consider taking some time out and have a wikibreak, but most of all I would ask that you don't feel you have to reply to comments immediately and give yourself time to carefully consider the best way to say things.
- There seems to be a clear consensus for delaying adding the Crossrail info until closer to the time of the service starting when more details will be available and less subject to change. I hope you will respect the opinions of other members of the Wikipedia community and not add this back in. Adambro 09:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Colours
Hi Hammersfan! I mentioned a while back about the DWR laying up some colours in Halifax. They are going to lay up the old colours in the church and replaced the current set of colours on display with the ones taken out of service in 2002, in Osnabruck. This event is to take place on Saturday the 31st of March. Starting at 11am, the Colour party, with 2 escorts of 40 troops, plus the Regimental drums and the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band will form up at the Town hall and march through the town to the Parish Church. The ususual inspection of troops by the Mayor and Lord Lt of West Yorkshire will then be followed by a church service. Richard Harvey 12:29, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Railway Station Boxes
Hi Hammersfan. I see you reverted edits of mine to putting the "Station Box" for the articles Dublin Heuston railway station and Dublin Connolly railway station on top. Maybe we should chat before you continue, because I've just put the boxes on top on half the Railway Stations in Ireland and was about to start on the other half! My reasoning is that the 'boxes on top' style makes navigation from station to station much easier....with articles varying form a single line (in most cases) to hundreds of lines for the major city centre stations it becomes messy following a line. (Sarah777 13:49, 6 April 2007 (UTC))
The reason I've reverted them is because the standard layout for all stations is to have the route boxes at the bottom of the page rather than the top. This is the case for railway/metro/light rail networks from all countries. Sorry for not leaving an explanation when I reverted, but I'm having a frustrating time trying to get the line templates I've created right. Hammersfan 06/04/07, 14.55 BST
OK. Didn't realise there was a standard - obviously I should have checked before wasting all that Wikitime! Regards (Sarah777 13:59, 6 April 2007 (UTC))
- Will do Hammer. I have peppered some stations with photos already - I don't know a lot about the technical issues or engine types etcetera - my interest is mainly because trains and stations are very photogenic. However when you add railways to roads, rivers, villages and canals you start build an encyclopedic database of the countryside. Brilliant work you are doing on the stations I must say. (Sarah777 14:17, 6 April 2007 (UTC))

I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MECU≈talk 21:44, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Concern about inappropriate link on your userpage
Hi there Hammersfan, could I ask that you remove the link to the blog, which I presume is written by you, from your userpage? I don't feel it is appropriate to link to the blog where you say that User:Chriscf "is a fucking cock - a close minded tosser who I'd very much like to hurt by inserting a cricket bat into his rectum and twisting very slowly. Tosspot Welsh arsehole".[1] Thanks. Adambro 09:38, 22 April 2007 (UTC)
