Hey, thanks for notifying me about the discussion at Wikipedia:Biographies_of_living_persons/Noticeboard#Labeling_or_categorizing_BLP_subjects_as_TERFs_or_trans-exclusionary_radical_feminists, but in the future, I think it would be much preferrable to do so publicly, on-wiki (via my user talk page, or a username ping at the RfC). Using e-mail could be seen as a form of WP:STEALTH canvassing. For the sake of transparency, you might want to even add a comment to the RfC listing users you invited to participate, or giving the criteria you used when selecting users to notify. (Sorry, I should have brought this up sooner, but it didn't occur to me until just now. I'm not used to getting wiki messages via e-mail.) :Yo, Colin M, I didn't email you to that RfC. I think you should clarify that at the noticeboard, like I did. I emailed you about the discussion, remember? I did so because you hadn't been on Wikipedia since August 1st, and I didn't know when you'd be back on. I realize now that I should have left the message on your talk page for transparency. Thanks. ::Sorry, I shouldn't have used 'RfC' in the section heading - I meant it as a shorthand for the BLP/N discussion that eventually evolved into an RfC, but of course no RfC existed at the time you e-mailed me. Still, I think the same principles apply, re canvassing. Colin M (talk) 16:58, 5 August 2019 (UTC) |

Invitation to RfC via e-mail
- Yo, Colin M, I didn't email you to that RfC. I think you should clarify that at the noticeboard, like I did.[1] I emailed you about the discussion, remember? I did so because you hadn't been on Wikipedia since August 1st, and I didn't know when you'd be back on. I realize now that I should have left the message on your talk page for transparency. Thanks.
