Thanks for your clear guidance on Edit Summaries!
As a 'newbie' I did not know about this. I edited most of my contribution - removing the content - as it may have some inaccuracies and I have asked someone with greater knowledge to review before I reinstate.

Removal of erroneous edits by Bruce1ee.
_ Racing Club is a historic team in world football, and its coronation as world champion is an important part of the sport's history. I don't understand the reason for the deletion in the events edition of November 4. _ Becky Hill and Adriana Chechik are two celebrities who were not listed with their date of birth between the births of their respective dates (February 14 and November 4) and I placed them. I don't understand why you deleted my edits.

Question
Hi, sorry to bother you. Noticed that you have previously reverted this user for adding links that are not RS. However, it looks like they kept adding them over and over again 1 and 2. I'm not very familiari with the process, so I was wondering what's the best way to go about this? --Citizensadvice11 (talk) 13:52, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- What you did was correct. That user is repeatedly adding inappropriate external links, which should be removed. But the user should be warned on their talk page, and action taken against them if they persist. —Bruce1ee 14:27, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your advice. I just left a note (assuming good faith) in the user's talk page, as per Wikipedia:Spam. --Citizensadvice11 (talk) 14:33, 19 January 2021 (UTC)

Peer review
Hello Bruce1ee, I keep running into you at the AIV and UAA, and noticed that you have written several FAs. I wanted to drop by and ask if you'd be willing to leave comments at Wikipedia:Peer review/Lights Up/archive1? The article passed GA a week ago, and my GA reviewer has made comments on how to improve the page, which I've implemented. I would really appreciate if you could leave some additional comments, and provide advice and suggestions on how to improve it. Thank you. --Ashleyyoursmile! 13:03, 28 January 2021 (UTC)
- Sure, I'll have a look at it over the next few days. It's been a while since I've done a peer review. —Bruce1ee 13:40, 28 January 2021 (UTC)

- @Barkeep49: Thank you for your offer to nominate me for RfA, but I'm going to decline. I don't want to commit myself to the responsibilities of an admin – I'm quite happy "gnoming" about at my own pace with no pressure or expectations. But thanks again. —Bruce1ee 07:04, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response. As an administrator you remain 100% a volunteer. You can and should continue to do whatever work you desire as an admin. It does, however, give you the ability to just act on things rather than reporting them to AIV, UAA, and other places. It makes it more efficient for you and makes for one less report that some other admin needs to act on. Win/win. Best, Barkeep49 (talk) 15:59, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Feb 3 edit
Hello Bruce1ee, I just re-added the 1963 entry to the page August 27 along with two citations. I was not aware that citations were now expected for those; I fully support that improvement since I always wondered why those entries were -not- cited. In addition I think this event (18 men killed) was noteworthy as an example of the spate of mining disasters (there were many) in that era which led to more stringent safety requirements. Twang (talk) 16:26, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thanks for the references. The missing citations for the older entries are slowing been added. BTW I added an endash after the year, which all entries require. —Bruce1ee 17:12, 3 February 2021 (UTC)
- Sure. In future I'll consider adding a cite or two when visiting date pages. Some dates can take a lot time to verify; researchers should appreciate. Twang (talk) 03:08, 6 February 2021 (UTC)
- Yes, looking for references can be very time-consuming. The linked articles should already have references, but you need to make sure they are correct and are reliable, third party sources. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. —Bruce1ee 07:27, 6 February 2021 (UTC)

Edit to page
Hello,
You have just left a message on an edit I made "Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Marist College Ashgrove. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. —Bruce1eetalk 10:07, 15 February 2021 (UTC)"
The updated text I put in is no way promotional. It is about the past sexual abuse of students from members of the Catholic Church. Marist College Ashgrove accepts that in the past there have been members of the school community that have behaved inappropriately so the statement I want to includes acknowledges that and informs people who to contact if they are a victim.
Can you please allow this edit.
The Marist Brothers Australia are committed to helping those who have suffered abuse in the past, find healing in their lives today. To that end, we encourage anyone who may have suffered past abuse to contact the Professional Standards Office of the Marist Brothers on +612 9218 4000 or at pso@marists.org.au for assistance from our skilled team.

- Are you SERIOUS? In NO way is that statement a means of promotion. It is about sexual abuse and it is a statement that the company has set up a Professional Standards Department that helps victims.

Request for interview
Hello there!
My name is AVardhana (WMF) (talk) 19:24, 3 March 2021 (UTC), and I recently joined The Wikipedia Library team to help with design work. I noticed you've been very generous with your input to our team so I thought I would reach out! I'm writing to invite you to participate in an interview study that I'm currently conducting.
This would involve us meeting via Google meets where I will ask you a few questions and then have you test a prototype with me. For the interview, I'd be recording your screen as well as audio. The purpose of the study is to get a better understanding of who is using The Wikipedia Library for the purposes of making the right improvements!
If you're interested, please email me at avardhana@wikimedia.org, and I'll send a copy of the privacy statement to you. If you have any questions, I am happy to answer them.
Thank you, Aishwarya
Removal of 'Tanita Tikaram' from On this day's Birth list
Hi Bruce1ee - I see you've removed my adding of Tanita Tikaram from the Birth list of August 12. I'm totally used to things being challenged on Wikipedia, and I fully accept the caution needed to keep the encyclopedia trustworthy. But, just so I understand it correctly - you removed the entry because the attached reference was "user generated". What is not considered user generated? Most content online is generated by human hand. So what would qualify as a reliable source for this sort of thing? Where would I look?
I see that the online music service Last.fm has an entry too, where mrs. Tikaram's birthday is listed (https://www.last.fm/music/Tanita+Tikaram/+wiki). But that too is written by a human being - not a machine. Does that mean, that Last.fm is not a trustworthy source too?
Finally, on the WP-article about 'Tanita Tikaram' there's another reference to a printed media (I think it is). Can that reference be re-used in anyway on the Birth-list? I tried to attach it too, but the system called an 'Error'. Maybe you can have a look?
Please advise - Cheers and thanks for your help -- Kmilling (talk) 15:00, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Kmilling: Have a look at the Discogs listing in Wikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources. It is not considered reliable because its content is user generated (see user-generated content). The content in all sources is generated by humans, but a reliable source is written by someone who is "regarded as authoritative in relation to the subject" (see definition of a source). That's why Discogs doesn't qualify – anyone can create an account and add content. References to printed media can be used, provided they are reliable. Just copy the reference as it is cited in the article. —Bruce1ee 16:59, 4 March 2021 (UTC)
- Hi @Bruce1ee: - Please check the Tanita Tikaram entry now under Births and 12 August 1969. I've copied the reference from the article as suggested, but it doesn't seem to work that way. That's why I didn't use it in the first place. Please advise (and thanks) -- Kmilling (talk) 10:39, 5 March 2021 (UTC)

August 16 edit
I have resubmitted the edit to the August 16 page, this time including a citation (same citation as the one provided in the Principality of Transylvania (1570-1711) article which I am paraphrasing).
I have a question regarding the WP:DOYCITE policy: is the citation supposed to be permanent? I ask because most of the other events included on that page do not have one, and I feel it (unjustly) implies that the Treaty of Speyer is less significant or less relevant. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A04:2413:8003:B380:ADE4:95D4:3B2F:B835 (talk) 11:53, 19 March 2021 (UTC)
- The rule that all entries require an inline citation only applies to new entries. It has nothing to do with how significant or relevant the topic is. Citations for existing entries are being added for all day-of-year pages, but it is a big job and will take time. —Bruce1ee 13:34, 19 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi Bruce,
I notice that you are fixing things on old pages. Thanks. However, you you please use a bot to do these things, to avoid filling watchlists, and other benefits. —SmokeyJoe (talk) 23:01, 19 May 2021 (UTC)
- @SmokeyJoe: I've been fixing lint errors manually as suggested by Wikipedia:Linter#How you can help, but I can see that it's going to fill watchlists. Which bot should I be using? I see there is Wikipedia:WPCleaner, but that's a tool, not a bot. There's also LintHint, but that, as I understand it, only identifies lint errors. —Bruce1ee 06:56, 20 May 2021 (UTC)

Notice on January 22 page
Hi there! You probably know that you reverted my edit on the January 22 page (where I added Étienne Bacrot on the births list) that I redid and changed the citation for. You said that you undid the edit because the source doesn't give his full DoB (date of birth). However, from the date in the title, and the given year of his birth, you can pretty much infer that Bacrot was born on January 22, 1983. Therefore, I don't know if the reversion was necessary. Zikrsaloncom (talk) 16:56, 15 June 2021 (UTC)
- I don't see any date in the title of the original ref you used. All I see is his year of birth (1983). But the new ref you used does give his full DoB, so that looks fine. —Bruce1ee 18:19, 15 June 2021 (UTC)

Notice on June 28 page
So could you perhaps elucidate on what exactly DOES constitute an "inline citation", because for every other birthday on that list, all I see is just a link to the name, which is apparently not acceptable? I'm confused. DiScOrD tHe LuNaTiC (talk) 13:27, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
- All new additions to days-of-the-year pages now require an inline citation from a reliable source. See the June 28 edit notice and DOY style. The reason why many of the existing entries have no inline citations is because they are old. There is a project underway to added inline citations to all entries. —Bruce1ee 13:47, 28 June 2021 (UTC)
