Photos by Alfred Harth
Sorry, I just do not understand what is going on that Explicit has deleted so many photos of mine in different articles! They were all made by myself, are from my ow archive (Harth archive) and I tried to give them a fair licence here before. This is all very irritating!Harth23 (talk) 12:14, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- Looking at the deletion of "File:Alfred 23 Harth 2009.8.15.JPG" here, I see it was deleted because of "F4: Lack of licensing information". I can't see what licensing information you had supplied because it's been deleted, so I can't comment. I'd suggest that you ask User:Explicit what his reasons for deleting your pictures were. —Bruce1ee 12:45, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
Online Ambassadors
I saw the quality of your contributions at DYK and clicked on over to your user page and was pretty impressed. Would you be interested in helping with the WP:Online_Ambassadors program? It's really a great opportunity to help university students become Wikipedia contributers. I hope you apply to become an ambassador, Sadads (talk) 02:47, 21 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the vote of confidence, but unfortunately my work here is sporadic and I don't want to commit myself to something I won't always have the time for. —Bruce1ee 05:52, 21 January 2011 (UTC)

DYK hook, punctuation error
Bruce, in this edit you introduced a punctuation error by adding a comma to my hook. This is how it shows up on the front page right now, and that's kind of embarrassing for me and for Wikipedia. Will you please not add punctuation to hooks that, one can assume, have been vetted on the Suggestions page? I've asked HJMitchell if they can remove the comma, but it might well be too late. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 18:21, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
DYK hook, incorrect fact
In this edit you added the hook for Gris-gris, but it's the wrong hook, as the discussion on the topic had pointed out--you moved that discussion to the prep area, apparently without noticing that a. I pointed out that the hook was not supported by the article (far from it!) b. the creator agreed with that c. an alternate hook was proposed b. the alternate hook was approved. I take no pleasure in saying this, since I appreciate all the good work done by the volunteers at DYK, but you dropped the ball twice in the same batch, and both errors make us look bad--in fact, the gris-gris error is precisely the sort of thing that give Wikipedia a bad name. I urge you to be more careful, much more careful. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 18:25, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Hey, my apologies if my messages are too terse, but I panicked a bit when I saw two errors in the hooks. I know you're doing a lot of good work, but I hope you understand also where I'm coming from. Thanks, Drmies (talk) 19:00, 5 February 2011 (UTC)
- Drmies, I'm sorry about loading the wrong Gris-gris hook, that was a rare slipup on my part. It was discussed here sometime last year that rejected hooks should be
struck-outto make sure that they are not selected for prep areas. Nonetheless, it was my fault. - Regarding the comma I added to your Nine to the Universe hook, I don't see anything wrong with that. Have a look at this hook from January:
- ... that Britney Spears' 2011 comeback single, "Hold It Against Me", broke the U.S. airplay record for the most number of radio plays in one day?
- There is a comma before "Hold It Against Me". Is that wrong? Note also rule A1 here. I did what I thought was correct, but if I got it wrong, once again, I'm sorry. —Bruce1ee 08:55, 6 February 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia Ambassador Program is looking for new Online Ambassadors
Hi Bruce! Since you're a very accomplished content contributor and experienced Wikipedian, I wanted to let you know about the Wikipedia Ambassador Program, and specifically the role of Online Ambassador. We're looking for friendly Wikipedians who are good at reviewing articles and giving feedback to serve as mentors for students who are assigned to write for Wikipedia in their classes.
If that sounds like you and you're interested, I encourage you to take a look at the Online Ambassador guidelines; the "mentorship process" describes roughly what will be expected of mentors during the current term, which started in January and goes through early May. If that's something you want to do, please apply!
You can find instructions for applying at WP:ONLINE.
I hope to hear from you soon.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 19:10, 10 February 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invitation and the vote of confidence, but as I said to Sadads last month, I don't want to commit myself to something I won't always have the time for. —Bruce1ee 05:24, 11 February 2011 (UTC)
DYK for The Meaning of It All

Orphaned non-free image File:Feynman MeaningOfItAll.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Feynman MeaningOfItAll.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.
- If you receive this notice after the image is deleted, and you want to restore the image, click to file an un-delete request.
- To opt out of these bot messages, add
{{bots|deny=DASHBot}}

Thank you. DASHBot (talk) 05:45, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
"Waxes philosophical[ly]"
"Waxes philosopical" is correct. The verb "wax" is equivalent to "become" when used in this idiom. As such, it is followed by either a noun (predicate nominative) or adjective (predicate adjective). It is not followed by an adverb because the verb is not being modified. SDCHS (talk) 08:03, 23 February 2011 (UTC)
- You're right, I missed that change you made. Why I reverted your edit was because you, probably inadvertently, broke the "image" parameter in the {{infobox}} which meant that the book cover (File:Feynman MeaningOfItAll.jpg) was no longer used. This rendered the image an "orphan" (see previous message). I've corrected "waxes philosophical[ly]" in the article. —Bruce1ee 08:27, 23 February 2011 (UTC)

Casper
There goes my article. If you need any sources, i have a page on a few. Note to self: stop procrastinaating and putting everyone's worries on it. Write something. Simply south...... 21:47, 2 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'm sorry I undermined your efforts, I had no idea someone else here was also preparing an article on Casper. Of course I don't have to tell you this, but feel free to jump in and add/correct anything I may have missed. —Bruce1ee 06:06, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- The article i would have come up with was much shorter. Never mind. I put it off for quite a while. If you need the sources, check out User talk:simply south/Archway. However, the other article is soon to be more active. You've done a better job on them. Simply south...... 10:54, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'll keep a lookout. —Bruce1ee 11:56, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- I've just realised what I've said might be a bit misleading. There is another article which i am hoping to make my mark properly (not related to feline fare evaders) which, when i have time, i will expand a lot. I suppose my biggest worry is that with the sources i have I might repeat citations. Simply south...... 23:36, 3 March 2011 (UTC)
- Actually, could i just give you the sources that i had on the cat articles so that i can leave space for another article? Simply south...... 13:04, 7 March 2011 (UTC)
