I think humility and the capacity to accept when you were wrong are important qualities for Wikipedia editors to have. As such, here are times when I was substantially wrong or against community consensus on a topic and have since changed my behaviour or opinion on a topic. |

*Template talk:Tailor-surname - About a year after I started editing Wikipedia I came across WP:3O and decided to help out with a dispute. In doing so I gave my opinion on a topic I knew very little about and provided approximately zero help. Since then I've stayed away from dispute resolution for the most part, and have made sure to make sure I know what I'm talking about before giving my opinion. |

*Andrew Davidson and RfA - In part as a good faith attempt to improve the atmosphere at RfA and partly because I had lost my patience with Andrew Davidson's commonly refuted/debated RfA votes, I wrote a proposal for topic banning him from RfA voting. While my opinion of many of his votes hasn't changed, the resulting opposition did make me realise that RfA voters are a spectrum; there will be people who vote exactly in line with general community expectations on one end and those who choose any reason that occurs to them to vote a particular way on the other. While it's probably obvious which end of that spectrum I think the user in question tends to fall on, that doesn't necessarily mean that they shouldn't participate. We elect bureaucrats to judge vote merits for a reason, after all, and if voting opinion was so clear cut that everyone voted the same way, there would be no point opening requests up to the community. I wouldn't make the same proposal again. |

I'm an astrophysics postgraduate research student in the UK. On Wikipedia my contributions are primarily to articles on video games and scientists, you can find a list of the articles I've created or done any major work on below. Besides those topics I edit assorted articles which take my interest. As an admin I tend to work at AfD, CSD, and on Edit Filters. I am also partnerships coordinator for The Wikipedia Library, for which I may edit from Samwalton9 (WMF).
If you want to ask me a question or otherwise speak to me please feel free to post on my talk page. If you think there is an obvious (policy based!) reason to revert an admin action I've taken then go ahead - don't feel required to notify me first, but please let me know if you've done so.
I have some alternative accounts; Samwalton9TWA, Samwalton9Testing, SamWaltonTest&, Samwalton9EFTest and Samwalton9API which I use(d) for various testing purposes, and a doppelgänger account Sam Walton.

Things I've got wrong
I think humility and the capacity to accept when you were wrong are important qualities for Wikipedia editors to have. As such, here are times when I was substantially wrong or against community consensus on a topic and have since changed my behaviour or opinion on a topic.
- Template talk:Tailor-surname - About a year after I started editing Wikipedia I came across WP:3O and decided to help out with a dispute. In doing so I gave my opinion on a topic I knew very little about and provided approximately zero help. Since then I've stayed away from dispute resolution for the most part, and have made sure to make sure I know what I'm talking about before giving my opinion.
- Andrew Davidson and RfA - In part as a good faith attempt to improve the atmosphere at RfA and partly because I had lost my patience with Andrew Davidson's commonly refuted/debated RfA votes, I wrote a proposal for topic banning him from RfA voting.
