Revision as of 13:44, 6 March 2013
Kumioko is not my real name it is the name that I have chosen to use here. I am divorced and have 2 children, 1 boy and 1 girl and I live in Virginia near Washington DC. I was in the Marine Corps for over 13 years and am now in the Virginia Army National Guard. I was going to list what states, countries and cities they have visited after seeing this done by other users but after I determined that I had been to all 50 states, most major US Cities and several countries including Japan, Okinawa (I count this as being separate from Japan), Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Norway and Puerto Rico I decided to just say it this way. I primarily edit US military biographies, especially Medal of Honor recipients but sometimes my ADD kicks in and I wander off and do other things from time to time. I submitted a request to be an admin a couple years ago and the experience left me with an extremly poor impression of the RFA process so I have not reapplied. This is also why I have chosen not to run for the various roles available in Wikipedia. To hold these roles I feel, requires admin rights and so I have opted to pass on them. Although I do appreciate the e-mails and messages I have received swaying me in that direction. As of January 2012 I have exceeded User:Kumioko/editcount edits globally. This includes the creation of over 380 pages (not counting talk pages) and over 500 redirects on the English Wikipedia, over 100 entries in Wiktionary and several dozen articles on Simple English Wikipedia I have also done some edits to WikiSpecies, Commons, Meta and others. The Douglas fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) is an evergreen conifer species in the pine family, Pinaceae, which is native to western North America. The trees grow to a height of around 20 to 100 metres (70 to 330 feet) and commonly reach 2.4 metres (8 feet) in diameter. The largest coast Douglas firs regularly live for more than 500 years, with the oldest specimens more than 1,300 years old. The cones are pendulous and differ from true firs as they have persistent scales. The cones have distinctive long, trifid (three-pointed) bracts, which protrude prominently above each scale. The cones become tan when mature, measuring 6 to 10 centimetres (2+1⁄2 to 4 inches) long for coastal Douglas firs. This photograph shows a young female cone of the variety Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca (Rocky Mountain Douglas-fir), cultivated near Keila, Estonia.Photograph credit: Ivar Leidus
