To give my Third Opinion on the topic, I think that the picture is appropriate for the section's contents; however, the title ("Combat maneuver organizations") should be changed. As a layperson, I find it misleading and unclear when coupled with the section's content. Based on the title, the picture seems inappropriate (once again, I am not entirely clear on the title's meaning, as neither a Google search or a Wikipedia search yielded any telling results). I do not see it as any more biased to show one division of soldiers next to the list than it is to show only one specific high school band in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade article in the "Performers" section. I don't see this as a violation of NPOV as it is not a viewpoint and is merely giving an example of one group mentioned in the article. If you have a specific section of the NPOV policy that you feel supports your point, please let me know, but based on my understanding of NPOV, this is not a violation. To reiterate my recommendation: I would keep the image and change the section's title. I sincerely hope that this gets resolved. --Peacheshead (talk) 01:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC) |

Image copyright problem with Image:Vcvg2.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Vcvg2.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Image copyright problem with Image:AVG-Tigers.jpg
If you are still active, please have a look at commons:Image:AVG-Tigers.jpg. The image was originally uploaded by you on English Wikipedia, and you provided the license as public domain. However, a person claiming to be the copyright holder of the image has filed an OTRS request, stating that the image is not public domain. The source link provided by you doesn't have any such image. utcursch | talk 10:05, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Shirleytemple2.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Shirleytemple2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:57, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Unspecified source for Image:Flying tigers pilot.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Flying tigers pilot.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the GFDL-self tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as article name or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 17:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. TabooTikiGod 17:57, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Copyright Status in Question
I have noticed that you have uploaded many images directly from the website WWII in Color, however, many of the images which you loaded failed to cite the exact website. I saw that there was an old template used for licensing for the use of the images from the WWII in Color website but I can see that this was overturned by Wikipedia. It is fair to say that at least some of the images were indeed copyrighted from various websites and the copyright which you provided on several of the images were made-up license templates.
FAQ for WWII in Color
Most of the images stored on ww2incolor.com were collected from government sources or submitted by their respective owners. This does not mean that all images on this site are in the public domain. The majority of the images, unfortunately, have an unknown copyright status and therefore it is recommended that you do not distribute or copy them for any commercial purposes unless they are specifically stated to be in the public domain (some images have a “public domain” notice in their captions).
Most of the images in the gallery are products of government works and therefore are required to be in the public domain by copyright law. However, some of the images were photographed by private individuals, media or other government entities (such as the United Kingdom) that do not fall under public domain law.

Fair use rationale for Image:Vc37.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Vc37.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. P51 Mustang - NA73X photo
I noticed that you uploaded the photo Image:NA-73X.jpg under PD-USGov-Military-Army - stating that "Source does not credit or list United States Army for author, however, the image appears to be old, circa 1940 and is most likely taken by a United States government or United States Army employee"
I'm not sure that "Most likely" is good enough to justify this copyright tag- Other photos I have seen of the Mustang in its initial unmarked state have been credited to North American Aviation. If we cannot find a definative source for this photo, it may be better to replace it with a photo of the prototype with known provence - such as the ones [1], which are credited as US Army.Nigel Ish (talk) 18:32, 15 March 2008 (UTC)

Nice work on USACE
I like the additions you've been making to the USACE page. If you're not careful (grin), Sheldonville might accuse you of using Wikipedia to promote USACE! LMAO He's really got an ax to grind; I'm assuming he was affected by Katrina. Anyway, I agree with you about Wikipedia being a kind of crack! I'd definitely consider myself to be a newbie Wikiholic! Flag officer Images
Signaleer -
I was just editing flag officer and thought it was a rather a bland page. I'm not much up on images, but thought of you. My foray into adding images hasn't been to great to date. I'll try more as I get more experience; but until then, I figured you'd be a good resource based on what you've done for USACE's page. Thanks. Don'tKnowItAtAll (talk) 12:39, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- There probably won't be too many images that display just the rank of Admirals or General Officers which are from government websites. This particular subject is hard to show without actually displaying individuals but since the topic encompasses a global outreach, not just about the United States, it would be difficult to track down just the rank from other nations. That would be my recommendation, as a rule of thumb I try to use images which are public domain so it doesn't violate Wikipedia copyright policies. -Signaleer (talk) 12:49, 11 June 2008 (UTC)
- Understood. I'm just not good at figuring out which images are public domain without doing a lot of research that I don't really have time for. Is there a place where I can learn more about how to determine licensing on images? I know a lot of people use google but that doesn't mean a thing. Thanks. Don'tKnowItAtAll (talk) 14:57, 11 June 2008 (UTC)

- I understand the policy but trying to find images outside of Wikipedia and figuring out if they are public domain or copyright is where I get slowed down. I guess I'm just impatient. LOL

June 30th
In a recent edit, you changed one or more words from one international variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.
For subjects exclusively related to Britain (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to other English-speaking countries, such as Canada, Australia, or New Zealand, use the appropriate variety of English used there. If it is an international topic, use the same form of English the original author used.
In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to the other, even if you don't normally use the version the article is written in. Respect other people's versions of English. They in turn should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Wikipedia:Manual of Style. If you have any queries about all this, you can ask me on my talk page or you can visit the help desk. Thank you. 216.163.254.1 (talk) 13:41, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- The english used throughout the article is American-English, therefore I changed the word "Theatre" to "Theater". The logic, if the entire article was written in proper English or British English, then I would have not made any edits. See the policy [2] Please do not revert your changes. -Signaleer (talk) 18:17, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Image:A-26B in Flight.jpg
A tag has been placed on Image:A-26B in Flight.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Sdrtirs (talk) 07:46, 10 July 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Publicity_Photograph_of_Dorothy_wearing_the_Rubby_Slippers.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Publicity_Photograph_of_Dorothy_wearing_the_Rubby_Slippers.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
1st Cav photo
I'm curious as to why you removed the photograph of 1st Cav member on horseback from the US Army article, with the edit summary stating that it was biased. It doesn't seem like a particularly biased photograph to me. I didn't feel like simply reverting without asking for an explanation first. I'll have your page watched, so you can reply here if you like. Parsecboy (talk) 18:26, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- I should have referenced the Wikipedia Policy of Neutral Point of View, listing an image representing the 1st Cavalry Division and not of every unit is bias, where as if every unit had representation; which it does, showing the unit patches. That wouldn't be an issue. -Signaleer (talk) 18:26, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- I don't follow your logic; it's not as though the 1st Cav is presented as more important than the other units. It's just a photo of 1st Cav soldiers dressed in ceremonial uniforms. There's a photo of 2ID infantrymen during the Korean War, and two from the war in Iraq, a 1ID infantryman with the SAW. If anything, there should be more diversity amongst the IDs; 3 of 2nd and 1 of 1st, but none of 3rd, 4th, 10, 101st, or 82nd. Also, I'm not sure how I signed as as you. Odd. Ahh, you accidentally replaced my sig with yours:[3] Parsecboy (talk) 18:33, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
- There was no --> at the end of my section so there by when you signed your signature it did not show up. The main concern is the placement of the image in the article, since it is located in the section of maneuver elements. Since there is only one photograph representing it seems strangely bias. -Signaleer (talk) 18:39, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
--Peacheshead (talk) 01:16, 2 August 2008 (UTC)
